Is there a reason he was going to be tried first? I dont know why hers would have to be postponed. Maybe thats why he is doing all this crazy stuff. So she would be tried first.
JMHO, and I only say it from my opinion from being in court that day. I didn't get the feeling he was trying to postpone anything, (at least at the hearing).

BBM, I not sure what crazy stuff your talking about. (lol he is nuts for sure ;) ) But honestly I don't think he has done legal wise too much that's crazy. From what I read, the fact that AL was found competent to assist in his case, is what the Judge used as one of the decisions to allow him to proceed Pro Se. The whole issue of not allowing him to use a pencil to take notes when he viewed evidence... well to me that was just adding fuel to the fire. He said he doesn't trust LEO and Lawyers... as he put he came to this feeling From his long criminal career... SMH....

But having said that, and his distrust, he said he needs the 4 videos from his cell phone to be able to defend himself. He said that to lawyers he is just a job (paraphrasing) but to him its his freedom and his life on the line. I can understand that.

I also think the Pros office felt that the trial would be postponed and conveyed that to the family. Carl Carter Jr also said that in so many words, or rather that's how I took it.

Now, I don't understand honestly why CL trial appears to be postponed also tho. Especially since they are having separate trials. JMHO, I took it as AL and CL would have had the same trial dates, but when the Judge granted them to be severed, they just made CLs after AL trial date. I remb after they did that, that CL lawyer asked that her next court date coincide with AL's to see what the Mental Exam was going to say so they would know how to proceed. On the docket it shows 2 separate events canceled, and with looking at the current docket it looks like the events canceled were the 2 trials.

The judge may not let him fire any more. JA tried to get KN removed several times and the judge wouldnt allow it. IDK how that works.

I may be wrong, but I don't think Judge Wright will allow him to fire this lawyer either. He already explained (multi times) that the AR Constitution and the US Constitution didn't allow him to have a mouth piece. Unless the Lawyer does something way crazy I don't see him being removed. JMHO. And one of the hardest things for AL is going to be.... not being able to file all his motions.

And JMHO, Jan 12th at 9 am.... with Arkansas winters, that could very well not be a true trial date. June 8 was last day of school for many kids because of so many snow days. Have to be able to have all 12 jurors plus alt jurors and witnesses there.

Im lost. So they both are going to trial Jan 12th now? So they must have decided to try them together?
Guess no one is going to roll. Honey, if you go down, Im going down with you.

I am lost with you ;) The Judge severed their case so they will be having separate trials. The Pros was in agreement with CL Public Defense attorney. That's what I was saying up thread, had they not been severed then they would have had trial same time (jmho) But then CL trial date was set after AL. So I don't know how this works. Also there wasn't (so far) anything filed from CL attorney since he filed Motion for Discovery. Generic 1 page form. She has a hearing on July 7th (per Judges notes)

Looks to me like there may be some testimony that the perpetrator was Crystal by some of the evidence that the new attorney Bill James has requested. He's all over the evidence already.
GOOD TO SEE YOU Beaglebrd!!!!

Looking back over the Motions for Discovery that Hensley filed it looks to me that its same stuff requested, just diff format and all on one doc instead of 3 iirc that Hensley filed. I think they do this filing right away (from what I have read). But I am curious as to what is on the 4 videos that AL needs for his defense. To be a fly on the wall c:thinking: and out of reach of a fly swatter lol

Bill James was Curtis Vance attorney in the Rape case in Marianna AR. Curtis Vance was later convicted of killing KATV 7 Anchor Anne Presley.

"You may not care about Curtis Vance," James said. "You may not give a crap about him one way or the other. But the bottom line is: [if] we protect his rights, we protect everybody's. Everyone has the right to be presumed innocent, and we're not just going to just find people guilty because we think they're guilty." http://www.arktimes.com/arkansas/for-the-defense/Content?oid=

Interesting article.... I do think this is going to get very heated, very soon... JMHO

Bill James also the Attorney for Josh Hastings former Little Rock officer http://www.katv.com/story/22665255/josh-hastings-verdict

Same Pros too "You want things to be finished for the family, you want there to be completion for the community and everyone else, but we knew this was going to be a very challenging trial," said John Johnson with the Pulaski County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

Looks like he doesnt care to break the rules. lol

I have to go back and refresh on that lol, iirc he got off on the contempt. Josh Hastings Daddy was a Police Officer for LR also. Also thinking there were a couple mistrials in this case. I would like to have listened to testimony in that case.

I thinking that Bill James has been attorney for a lot of "high" profile or media cases rather. Should be pretty interesting, to say the least. If you go on the court docket and click on the # by the attorney name, it will show you their cases. HE HAS A TON of cases current.

Andrea Davis, 36, has been charged with manslaughter concerning a 2012 death at her Hot Springs home that authorities say was related to a planned drug purchase, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports. During a Friday court hearing, she pleaded not guilty, and in a matter unrelated to the manslaughter case was sentenced to 15 days for contempt of court stemming from her failure to appear for a Garland County court hearing on the day the AG announced their involvement.

AG Dustin McDaniel was a candidate for Arkansas governor but dropped out of the race over the issue of his relationship with Davis.

“I’m really disappointed with having to do this,” Garland County District Judge David Switzer told Davis on Friday as he sentenced her for misdemeanor contempt. “All these years on the bench and you’re the first lawyer I’ve ever had to hold in contempt. I shouldn’t have to be in that position. I find it distasteful for me to be in that position.”

Davis is expected to appeal the contempt sentence.

She and her brother, Matthew Davis, 32, were both charged with manslaughter in the Feb. 29, 2012 shooting of Maxwell Anderson, Arrest affidavits say Anderson was shot by Matthew Davis in “a drug transaction gone bad” that involved a planned purchase by the Davises of $1,200 in methamphetamine, the newspaper reports.

Attorney Bill James, who represents Matthew Davis, said his client has a strong case for self-defense. Attorney Jeff Rosenzweig represents Andrea Davis. He said he expects her to be acquitted.

“The fact is, the evidence clearly supports a self-defense issue and the evidence is also of course that Andi Davis was not the person who fired the shot,” Rosenzweig told the newspaper. “And there’s some I think significant legal question as to whether you can be an accomplice to a negligent act.” http://www.abajournal.com/news/arti...se_gets_time_for_court_no-show_on_day_ark._ag

I wouldn't be surprised if Bill James vol for this case. But Judge Wright could have appointed him.

Other than Arron Lewis, curious to who else that has spoken or been interviewed and so forth listed in the Discovery Motion, that has a criminal past?

This reporter was the only Reporter I saw sitting in the courtroom the whole hearing June 1.

Snip: June 10
Information on his cellphone will clear him, but he doesn't trust anyone in law enforcement to preserve the information if he surrenders his pass code to retrieve it, Lewis told the judge. Authorities say they can't examine the phone without the code. He said he wanted his own representative to be present if he allowed the information to be extracted.

The judge warned Lewis that those problems were the perils of going it alone and urged him to accept legal representation. Wright told Lewis he would appoint the state Public Defender Commission to represent him as soon as he asked.
>>>

The commission has retained James, who has one of the state's largest defense firms. James is the new president of the Arkansas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and has had many high-profile cases, representing a man accused of killing a Russellville beauty queen; a Little Rock police officer who killed a teenage car burglary suspect; a Little Rock woman who fatally stabbed and slashed her mother 70 times; and an Alexander police officer who shot a handcuffed prisoner in the back. A judge last year told a capital-murder defendant who fired James that the lawyer is one of the best in the state. more...http://www.arkansasonline.com/news/2015/jun/10/suspect-in-realtor-s-slaying-asks-for-h/

Lewis' wife, Crystal Hope Lowery, 42, was arrested a month after her husband. She is being represented by public defenders and has filed for divorce from Lewis, her third husband, whom she married five months before the slaying.

Her lawyers have not filed any motions beyond a routine December filing seeking access to evidence in the case. She will be tried separately from Lewis but has not received a trial date. She complained that she did not know about Lewis' criminal history when they got married in April 2014.http://www.arkansasonline.com/news/2015/jun/10/suspect-in-realtor-s-slaying-asks-for-h/

 She HAD been given a Trial Date.. July 14th iirc, but now its removed. I guess her hearing will be interesting.

OT but this makes me go hmmm

Bill James was attorney for Curtis Vance.... Curtis Vance is allegedly cousin of Boxer Jermain Taylor's exwife. NOW he is the attorney for guy that Jermain Taylor beat up while in rehab center!

LITTLE ROCK, AR -- A man hospitalized after being beaten at a West Little Rock rehab center now says he's certain Boxer Jermain Taylor was the person who assaulted him.

Attorney Bill James says his client at first was unsure whether or not the boxer attacked him in the hallway at Oasis Renewal Center Wednesday night. But after taking a couple of days to heal, James say his client is able to think clearly and claims Taylor was the man who was behind the attack.

"Jermain Taylor pummeled him. There's really no other way around it," said Attorney Bill James.

James says his client - whose name is not being released - is in the hospital because of Taylor put him there.

"He got stitches, broken bones in his face, it's pretty bad," said James.

Authorities say a patient at the renewal center was rushed to the hospital after an assault in the hallway.
Reports say the victim was allegedly greeting Taylor when the boxer walked by.
Then according to deputies, residents heard a loud noise.
When inspected, they found a man on the ground and witnesses' say they heard Taylor talking to he injured patient.

"It was a beat down," said James.

Deputies say they victim initially did not remember if Taylor was the one who assaulted him.
James says after a few days in the hospital his client now claims it was.

"He doesn't remember specifically what was happening right at the time," said James.

And according to James his client told people the night of the alleged attack it was the middleweight fighter.
"That night he told people it was Jermain; other people it was Jermain," said James http://www.arkansasmatters.com/stor...r-beat-up-client/13820/fX8dGH2QxkuK39rnQoHsUQ
