I read upthread that locals believe that the person responsible in this case is under lock and key. Is BR in jail? What did they drag him in on?

As I'm outside the US, a lot of public info is outside my reach and rightly so, however it does frustrate the sleuth in me. Could someone point me in the right direction as to the details of circumstances surrounding the whereabouts of BR please?

Perhaps somebody with good Arkansas religious community contacts could find a way to ask the Duggars if they would get the word out on their various social media platforms.

Are there any Arkansas celebs with a good Twitter reach?

Just curious...how many of you call your daughters "baby girl" or know someone who does? I wouldn't find it natural to call my daughter that...I call them munchkin, banana, squirrel...lol. My girls are tweens. But I know lots of people have lots of different nicknames for their kids, so I'm just asking.
My daughter is 24 and I still call her that.

I reached out to the only local media contact I know personally. It's been awhile since I've talked to her so I figured I'd email first. If I get no response over the next couple of days, I'll call her. Anyone here been reaching out to local media? There was a reporter from Fox 16 (I think?) that seemed to take up Cassie's torch in the beginning....and has since dropped it. :( I checked into billboard costs...They don't seem to be outrageously expensive. I believe Vista print can do t-shirts, pins/buttons, hats, stickers, etc. However, I don't know if that would take consent from JC or what...Has anyone from here tried to reach out to her specifically (not just local VI's)? I don't have an issue doing it at all. Anything - JC's past, anyone's past is secondary at THIS point to finding Cassie. I've now gone beyond worried, now I'm determined. I have no issue whatsoever in driving the short distance to AR from where I am (drive it many times a year).

O wise ones of this forum, tell me what I can do? Should I contact local media, the mom, the KK or any missing child org, get things printed, put up a billboard.......? Like I said, I'd be happy to do any of it, but I also don't want to be sued if I step on any legal toes. TIA

Its very speculative, Mrs g-but this is not a big community. And the current chief of police has a son who at a minimum was a material witness to a capital murder case. This may explain the speed with which the state police and the FBI entered this case. There may be some unexplored, but at WS almost unexplorable, relationships between the minors.

I am still confused. What does this have to do with Cassie? Or nothing? Did this case slow down the search for her in your opinion? I am not understanding. What does "relationships between the minors mean?"

Klaas Kids was the best interaction I have had. They took the time (over an hour with me on two dates) to ask questions (broad to narrow) and then communicate how answers related to other known information and statistics. I was bewildered that the public did not get more "situational education" or hear any news after their week-long visit. I know they are not about solving the crime, only finding the victim! But maybe KK doesn't realize the community is still so in the dark today. I think anything printed needs to have really large text at top MISSING FROM STUTTGART or it may get overlooked as a regional/national notice. What is John Walsh's organization? Must it be tied to abductions instead? Area journalists want to be fed valid information from authorities (who have given them two? one-liner leads thus far). Mistakes can be made trying to narrate a sensible story when there is no press release or conference -- easily for less-experienced or less-educated small market reporters.

Duggars are far northwest Arkansas people (affluent area), we are in the Delta (more poverty). I've even wondered about the stage actress / singer Cassie Compton from the Broadway show "Wicked" being asked to make a PSA or visit. She could grab attention.

Wish I could draw a three-ring Venn Diagram right here. The intersect is very small -- but the July case does demonstrate why some people have little faith in the SPD. Gun-toting "drug thugs" (former public school students) were involved in DR's murder (private Christian school graduate). Cassie is isolated from other teens (home schooler). Three very different social circles. Again, I have known these kids (especially Daniel) for several years.

Plainly said, Mrs g, we cant sleuth any connections between Cassie and the kids involved in the shooting on the open board because of TOS. Hypothetical-what if they knew each other and well? The crime against the victim was the kind of crime, imvho, that would be front and center in the world of their peers both before and after it. BUT, we cannot connect these kids on the open board because we dont sleuth minors.

What if the disappearance of Cassie had it's origin in another event...I mean undoubtedly it did, but what if it were tied to relationships between Cassie and other kids that came to a head at some point-I am not saying that the named suspects are not responsible, I am just trying to get to the day to day in Cassie's life and who she hung with and who she admired and who she didnt get along with and why...

It is hard because we have to do the work regarding it offline so to speak. So all I can say is I encourage all of you to follow the threads on social media and see what you might see.

Now, got4 brought up gun toting thugs and on the first thread Oriah asked about guns inside and outside of the home. Stuttgart is a small town, but what are the demographics on drugs, guns, gang activity? What are the influences on the kids-kids their age are always trying out personas. Respectfully, just because Cassie liked a Christian Rock band online doesnt mean that was her actual influence ;) Many adults had access to her FB pages. If I were friends with the adults in my life I would certainly be tempted to present one face to them and another to my peers. Instagram, snapchat, kik, ask....those are platforms that might show another side of Cassie and her peers. KWIM?

We dont have a solid timeline here, heck we dont even have a solid description of Cassie and her belongings...we have to find another way to get to her day to day activities, likes and dislikes and see how they might lead to her. JMO.

I reached out to multiple reporters & gave them info that wasn't allowed here at that time. Hoping they'd at least investigate further, even report that while Cassie was still missing there was things happening, etc But they responding basically saying it wasn't related. Even knowing the ppl were last to see her, making odd comments after she went missing etc At least something could have been researched?
As for billboards unless it's a cold case most missing billboards are donated. The wrap & the space. KK should be able to assist with that as part of their duties w Cassie registered there. As for other MPOs 1-you'd need JC to register her or another family member w her being a suspect. 2-many may not register her if KK has her registered already as not to duplicate efforts & use resources rage could be used for various cases. Not to say they'd be wasted just that a lot of these organizations work to ensure as many cases are covered as possible because there are so many that they're never all covered. Not to mention hardly many registered. Wo being registered it takes them out of being able to help legally with all the liabilities.
You may also be able to get other things like the vista print stuff donated as well. Always, always ask! & if you have to pay look for a local business looking to donate for tax write offs. I believe if they work with KK they could get a donation receipt for that. Maybe you should contact Joel (just a guess-he's on JCs FB)from there to assist if you get all the players?
I think you have a huge heart & thank you for being so willing to get out there & help! :)

OK, umm...a quick look at crime stats in Stuttgart show twice the national average??

LINK HERE

for 2007, 2009 and 2011 The overall crime rate was twice the national average. The clearance rate for crimes is horrifying. These stats were taken from FBI UCR. :thud:

  • #673
OK, hold up...I am going to do some work around the UCR from the FBI website. BRB

Ja. These are some of the 'regional issues' I've been alluding to all along. Add to that some internal issues in the local PD (no LE agency is immune, but when forces are small, a little goes a long way kwim?) And we have a very problematic and potentially complex missing person case. Now add into that heated race relation issues, proximity to Little Rock...well, let's just say Cassie may have found herself a target of crime for more than the reasons previously thought.

Has anyone looked into BR's or JC's affiliations?

ETA: working on reopening the SAR thread. Want to make sure we keep the focus on search, not obstruction, before I do so.
Oh and, awesome on the billboard/posters work being done. You guys ROCK. Please check with KK for assistance, as caring4 mentioned, they should be able to assist. If they cannot assist, come back here, and we'll make it happen.

I have been contacted by an individual officially connected with the fund set up for Cassie's benefit at Arkansas County Bank. They would like to clarify that it is still an open and active fund which still holds proceeds from the Halloween event held to raise awareness of Cassie's disappearance. The fund was created with the consent of local law enforcement before Ms. Compton became publicly active. The Find Cassie Compton FB group still wants to raise more money in the near future, but they are struggling to find a good balance of what type of activity can be done without drawing verbal backlash. These mothers have donated time and put in emotional effort behind the scenes which cannot be written in a comment on a page. To respond negatively to what one cannot see makes the already difficult situation harder for them. There was no intent to promote the idea Cassie may be deceased; they were trying to cover all needs that might arise when the flyer was made.

OK, the crime rate in Stuttgart is considerably higher than the national average. You have about 1:31 chance of being a crime victim. Here is the most succinct comparison data I could find: LINK HERE

I appreciate the information you shared. Maybe they should communicate this on the FB page?? I think it might be one of the elephants in the room tbh. So they filed all of the paperwork with the state, got4? They should probably communicate that as well. :)

Got4, superb thought on full size posters on easels during WoTP week.
Superb.
Do we have a contact person here who is in touch with the FB folks, who can help facilitate that?

Between 5 and 6 this morning, I did talk to their graphic artist person about design and content. I know who to talk to at ARCO Signs, just have to worry about timing and expense now. I would need some help with distribution on Saturday as I can't push over a leery manager . . . HBP doesn't like that conflict.
