I don't want to get in trouble for suggesting inundating LE with calls, but I did get an internal chuckle wondering what a newspaper company would say if 50 different people called them on the same day. Ha ha ha I kid.

Just for the record, FOIA requests don't have anything to do with calling local LE or anything like that. In fact, they have nothing to do with calling LE at all. They are formal written requests for information submitted to (typically) federal agencies, for specific information that is legally available to the public. All of the information for filing is available online at foia.gov.
Remember many cases have multiple jurisdictions involved, including many federal ones that may not be noted in the media, or noted only briefly.

It's been discussed in earlier threads in depth. And yes, I did. Was thinking it might be useful if more/many people did. Power of the public and all that.

Oh I'm definitely not suggesting anyone call LE was just envisioning PPP being confused since most LE these days have forms or a link online.

Tupelo was given the MP report because it was legally available to the public. We have transparency in the US when it comes to many things. FOIA permits all kinds of agencies and people to gain access to information that should be transparent. There are very specific guidelines that an agency has to follow if they are going to deny a request for records. One of the ones we see most commonly is the "active and ongoing investigation being jeopardized" if the information is distributed. Or it might be denied of an agency is protecting a source of information. If you look at the case in my siggy, you will see that we received a large number of documents from the investigating agency and the superior court. Just as an example.

I always find it interesting and relevant to see what has been with held and why. :)

In this case, anyone can do FOIA requests for documentation via online?

I don't have a media source I can link yet (and my best jail contact has not confirmed for me to where I can speak with confidence as an insider).

What I know is only hearsay right now. I've heard "possession of stolen property" with arrest by DeWitt police department. If he really is sleeping in a sleeping bag on the streets of downtown DeWitt (again, rumor), it's hard to be in possession of much of anything . . . so I am not sure. There was a break-in at Webbs Sporting Goods in DeWitt on Thursday night of last week, but I don't know if BR was connected to that specific case. That was the only crime story in DeWitt newspaper (a weekly).

If that pans out, got4, I would have to say that BR is a slow learner.

I just read that there is going to be some sort of lighting recognition on behalf of Cassie. 6 months. :(

Thats good-anything drawing a little bit of attention is a positive at this point.

I have not found anywhere that JC actually said that she knew Cassie came home, only that she heard someone and her stuff was there. And of course if we believe the story that BR was on the porch then YES it is hinky that he asked TS if Cassie was there.

However, if the story that BR was on the porch is BS, then it is reasonable that he would ask TS if Cassie was there.

IMO it's easy to finger BR because he is a dim bulb of sorts.

The "Lighting the way for Cassie" event got top billing on KTHV Channel 11 (one of the four major locals) tonight! They showed her picture and noted that it has been six months since she went missing. Prayers that someone who knows something will step up!

I guess I get to be the negative Nancy. I'm sorry but at 6 months missing for a teenage child I really did expect more. I'm in no way saying the FB group should bear that responsibility. There are at least 3 MPOs working on this case supposedly & a family. They couldn't do more than a social media campaign? There was so much more that could have been arranged-March in the St Patricks's Day parade & hand out fliers in Little Rock, or even at Walmart with green beads for the kids in the very least. I've listed many times the numerous simple things that can be done for missing people to raise awareness. NOTHING has ever been done large scale for Cassie-except for the desperation of a few moms in town through FB. Without their heart locally it's my opinion Cassie's case wouldn't even be spoken of in Stuttgart.
Yes KTHV coverage was a positive-but what kind of coverage was that? That was a no effort recycled coverage from months ago. All they did was change the date imo. They could have done much more to cover her story. WHY WILL NOT ONE NEWS OUTLET cover her story? NOT ONE. This is a missing child & the media doesn't seem to care to ask the real questions in order to cover her story the way she deserves it to be. There are no words for the lack of media & disrespect given to Cassie. If I lived in that area I would be raising hell about now with anyone that would listen that apparently missing children cases aren't important to their news outlets, better hope your children stay safe!
Too many times I've had one or another act interested only to not reply at all. I'm embarrassed for AR News to be completely honest.

I've tweeted & fb'd local media asking why Cassie's wasn't covered yesterday or recently. In addition to that I messaged each of the MPOs asking them all to please look into why Cassie is not getting the media coverage she deserves. I noted that it was her 6mth yesterday & that BR was recently arrested hoping to gain more interest.

I wish the FB group would consider doing a post asking its members to contact media outlets about an update for Cassie. I would be more than willing to make a list of FB, Twitter, website & email addresses if they did. I know they do want to keep their page a positive space but in order to fight for Cassie I believe that would help Cassie.

got4, are there missing posters around town and in nearby areas? I remember on the last thread we discussed JC being in DeWitt supposedly hanging posters. Once BR was released...it seemed odd she was there given the no contact, but I dont know bow big DeWitt is.

In any case, I wonder if there are still posters out and about?

I have been following Cassie's thread and wonder if perhaps she did want to run away, and met with someone who did her harm. I had a dear friend from high school in Md the year I lived with my dad who was murdered. Her name was Amanda Hall, and she was 15, and had ran away. I mention this because I am not convinced that her stepdad was bright enough to harm Cassie and hide her for this long. I think Cassie hated her home life, and I have yet to see a picture of her truly smiling.

Yes, there are flyers still out -- some in pretty prominent places, such as the city water department offices, the main drugstore downtown, some "sit-down" restaurants. I also want to add that JC herself was out on foot (three weeks ago? before icy weather) distributing color replacement flyers. (This may have been same batch taken to DeWitt soon after BR's January 29th release.) I was not there the day she came to the store where I work, but we've had the full-size poster in our window with the mannequins since before Wings Over the Prairie in November. I am very disappointed in media coverage also, but will say KATV has been doing a good job placing other missing person cases since Cassie's case in focus of the main leads of the news programs (not just stuck toward the end as filler.) Donna Terrell of FOX16 did a week's worth of Cold Cases features. She's a long-term anchor for Arkansas, not a field reporter who will bounce from state to state building a career. (She lost a teen daughter to colon cancer, also.) FOX16 has a full 9 p.m. hour-long newscast, so I believe they could do the most comprehensive coverage at this point. As far as getting the local residents to put more pressure on the police force, I think it will need to be a national news story that causes embarrassment for the town to the point of hurting tourism. I don't like this idea; but I know the social dynamics. We certainly aren't seeing the traffic of FBI or ASP like we used to.
