Both times the people I've been in contact with were through there Twitter accounts. The last time I actually had back & forth conversation before being told they'd call in a few days. Snow coverage was priority. This time I was asked to message them my number privately & they responded privately when they'd call. I don't see in either case how they'd be a baiting me just for me info, not sure what the point in that would be.

ETA: just saw a notification that she was "wrapped up in an assignment & will call tomorrow " Meaning today since it was 3am EST she sent the message.

My question is regarding this situation in general (not just this case). Is it the norm that a parent is charged with failure to protect and must register as a RSO if they had no knowledge? Or is this used in cases where they only have reason to believe the parent knew and did nothing? I wasn't sure if we had some LE or CPS people on here who might be able to shed some light on it. I would Google it but darling 2 year old keeps stealing my iPad and computer from me and I'm left with my tiny phone with a tiny screen lol.

My personal feelings on this - if I found out my husband and father of my child had taken indecent liberties with my other child and I had no knowledge of it prior to the child discussing it with someone and bringing police into the matter - I would think I would be a victim too. I can't imagine the court making you register as a RSO without a good reason. This is what I keep going back to. If JC has failed to protect one child, what are the chances it happened again? It says something about morals, integrity and character. If JC knew RC was "messing with" her other daughter and stood by and said/did nothing I view her very differently then a parent who was shocked when they found out and had never seen any signs. I watch the interviews and something doesn't seem sincere about JC. In the JVM interview with TS, JVM states that JC and BR declined an interview. That's a huge red flag to me - If that is true. When your child is missing I would think you would be shouting it from the rooftops to anyone that would listen, and when a NATIONAL news network has someone who would like to do a story on it you give them as much info as possible. How do we not have a verified description of her clothing? I know she was gone all weekend but I would think TS and HS would say....when I dropped her off at home she was wearing x,y,z....and then JC or LE would say those articles were not found in her room, hamper or overnight bags so that should be what she was still wearing? Why did it take excellent WS'rs to try to figure out her boots? If my daughter went missing I would be able to figure out what shoes were not at my house and tell you brand, size, color and the store they came from. Even the clothes that might be thrift store finds or goodwill - I could still tell you major details and most likely the brand. I just get so frustrated reading about this case. Is JC doped up on rx meds for her disability? JC should be CCs advocate - she should be making every detail known, every single detail. I feel like JC doesn't want Details out there.
Has any family members of BR come forward to say what an amazing citizen he is? I feel like their silence says something.
Somebody that was "known" to CC is involved IMO. Whether is was JC, BR, the S' or all 4 of them combined - I just don't feel like this was random or unplanned.

so according to and paraphrasing from, Cassie's mothers fb, there are 'rumors flying all over and there are horrible heartrending lies being spread'....

Let's use JC as an example. She took a plea deal where she pled guilty to Cause, Procure, Or Permit - Injury / Sex Abuse to her daughter. We dont know the details of the crime, but I am assuming it was permit because the other two would most likely have incurred quite a bit of jail time. I mean there is a rep who sponsored a bill in OK in 2010 to make the above crime punishable by 50-life because the people charged with the above have a duty to protect so they are even more culpable for a lifetime of pain and suffering of the victim.

The eligibility for life for the above crime was chopped out into a separate bill, 2965, which passed in March 2010.

My point is that she got a good deal. I dont know whether it was sufficient for the victim in the case, but there you go. Now, if a situation with Cassie causes her to touch on a repeat of this offense, she has a lot to lose.

I dont know if any of this touches on the lies she was referring to. We have linked the interview she gave admitting to her registry status, but she seemed to imply she unknowingly pled to something she didnt do on the advice of counsel.

and I have no idea about the rumors and lies re Cassie....that is what has me perplexed! And why I asked! Where is this being done?? Makes me WONDER if there is truth to it or not?
For example, our dear Hailey, you could find tons of stuff, good, bad & ugly, people just wouldn't be quiet about her in various places online....so unless they are burning up the phone lines and seats in the Gossip Cafe place there in town...i hear crickets

I haven't read through all these threads, but I posted on the first couple. Cassie is in my thoughts regularly, 6 months on.

I apologise if I am bringing up anything that has already been discussed, but I wonder if Cassie's home life and family history makes it too easy to focus on potential scenarios close to home. I know in the early days my suspicions were firmly pointed in a specific direction. But now that time has passed I have to consider other possibilities. Could she have ran away, or been lured away and trafficked?

I don't really need answers, as I am sure this has already been discussed, just posting my thoughts. Cassie deserves more media attention, and a more proactive LE. :gaah:

I think there are other scenarios for sure strawb93. I feel for LE though-if those closest to her wont clear themselves, LE is kind of stuck wasting resources on them rather than pursuing other avenues. Marc Klaas had the right idea when Polly disappeared-he wanted the focus off of himself ASAP so LE could catch her actual kidnapper so he took every step to make sure they crossed him off.

It is the responsible thing to do that will most help your child in the end.

Maybe they werent even in the house when she was supposed to be dropped off. Maybe she walked in on them doing something and turned and ran.

Hello straw. Those are really good thoughts and you brought up good points we did talk about.

I think, though, we are still stuck at determining whether or not she actually made it home on 9/14/14. Until we can get some proof of that, we can't really theorize at this point.
