I have nothing to add, other than I think about her all the time. I wish she knew how many people care about her.

oh I know !! that scattered/dismembered thing blew my mind!! Absolutely cray cray...and the thought of telling civilian volunteers that?!? whoa, hey y'all, by the way...
Wasn't something said, about easier to dispose of on bicycle? I 'd have to go back and find the verbiage the VI gave......I thought holy cow they have a horrible crime scene
Look at what just happened to poor Rebecca Watts. :(

I think the verbiage was more on the lines of "carried by hand" and we all instantly got an image of a bike rider.

As far as the 8pm v 8am question comes up is because JC says she "had someone" go to the police station, at which point BR was noted as being the someone.

  • #163
Yup that was my thought too....except there was no crime scene and no one asked about the other thousand and one ways those sorts of horrible crimes are committed. Did anyone search any residences at the time? Check sinks, tubs, drains, septic and sewer systems, traps, buckets, crawl spaces, chemicals etc? Did anyone check the fire report?

Runaway/missing juvenile to dismembered remains, in 0 to 60 without any evidence? What?

Who was thinking what, exactly, when doling out that info to civilian searchers?
And more importantly I guess- why was/were those person(s) of that mindset to begin with?
Doesn't it all of a sudden smell like LE cover up?

Okay, so shortly after Cassie's disappearance the PD burns down. They caught the guy. Does that person have ANY relationship with BR. How about the other 3-4 unnamed males we have questions about? Any way to find out where he's from, went to school, worked, hung out?

I think there are some things falling into place for sure.

Let's face it though-JC didnt freak out and report her daughter missing one hour after she left the house when she was known to go on long walks, kwim? If it took her months to settle on what she was actually wearing, it seems pretty likely that she didnt have a complete grasp on her child but that is just my over all impression. I could be completely wrong.

Or with Cassie. Or any of the other principals in the case.

She knows. Angels know. :)

Can we maybe bring back up the crime stats; including suspected arsons, larcenies, B/E's, felony calls, parole violations, misdemeanors, FD calls, 911 calls etc, for the purpose of condensing all that info in the same place from say... the week prior to Cassie going missing to current?
Maybe that way we can get a public running record going on that indicates any potential to harm that Cassie may have been subjected to or possibly met up with?

Clarification No. 1 -- it was not the PD that burned in arson, but the Northern District Arkansas County Courthouse Annex. The 911 call center had been housed in this building with tax assessor's office, county judge's office and had a satellite office for the sheriff on this top end of the county. (Originally, it was an Elks Lodge, then a funeral home.) Courtroom and county and circuit clerks' offices are in the main courthouse not damaged in fire. Prosecutor's office is in a two-story house turned office suite across College Street.

Don Aaron has an Ark. Dept. of Corrections record:

I am still digging for the actual date he was released. Parole eligibility was July 2011.

(I am so glad STM was able to clarify Ponder-West-Compton relationship!)

So what happened to the 911 dispatch records when the arson occurred? Were there any incident reports that might have been destroyed or dispatches? For example, JC calls wanting to report her baby missing and needs an officer ASAP...did she call 911?

Does this mean West initiated the balloon release?

I hope they have Cassie's face on them. :(

What ever happened to the person who called in the false report of Cassie being kidnapped and held some where?

ETA this link

“The caller whispers again saying they are Cassie Compton and she is kidnapped,” Campbell reported, saying the caller then ended the call again.

The person is a minor (7th grader, age 13?), so he isn't sleuthable. I physically saw him going into courthouse together with his parents soon after, so there were quite certainly some charges in juvenile court. (Again, I am not putting names out publicly.)

Re: the balloons. I hope they have some sort of safe contact info for minors in scary or high risk situations in them, or at least the # for 1-800-The-Missing, along with Cassie's pic and missing info. Sometimes those balloons show up in crazy, amazing places.

And heck- if the desire is for a simple prayer? I totally understand that. No need to separate the two. Please balloon release people... send them up to the universe with not only a prayer or a memory, but some contact info that might help Cassie- or possibly another child like Cassie.

That's what I hope, anyway.

Are 1st appearances for minors open to the public in Arkansas Co., got4?

No, they are not. I worked in Pulaski County Circuit Court for three years, where there was an entirely separate juvenile court. But here in Arkansas County, it is still the same judge and clerks as for adults. I've had a niece in juvenile court before this same judge over a two-year probationary period. You might be among a crowd of spectators arriving for the day's docket, waiting for your case of interest to be called to bench; but then courtroom is cleared before any juvenile cases are called out. I remember having to stand in hallway and then having bailiff call my family in for just our case. No press allowed.

Except he was charged with a crime, got4, so he is ok to research. :) We have a verified media report of his crime as well, so no worries on that.

Was he convicted? What was the outcome?

  • #179
Thank you got4. And this was juvenile court- not family court, correct? Are minors specifically appointed attorneys or attorney GAL's (separate from their parents/legal guardians) during that process?

  • #180
I have been curious about the outcome of that case as well, believe09. In my experience, parents/guardians/caregivers can potentially be held partially or fully culpable, at times, for the minors' actions? Depends on the case and the charge.

We never heard anything more about that.

Let me ask a verified atty about that....
