GUILTY AR - Jersey Bridgeman, 6, raped & murdered, Bentonville, 20 Nov 2012 #1

  • #181
Police on Tuesday were in the E-Z Mart nearest Jersey’s house, interviewing employees and examining items on store shelves.

Police estimate Jersey’s death took place between midnight and about 6:45 a.m. Thomas worked at the convenience store from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., an E-Z Mart employee told 5NEWS.

Haven't found link regarding BF on survellance at work yet but found the BBM portion odd. Hadn't noticed that before in the article.

I found that very peculiar too.

When asked by 5NEWS whether there is no public safety concern because police have a suspect, Simpson said, “Whenever you start answering questions like that, you’re not doing a very good job of protecting that investigation…The most important thing to recognize is, there’s not a real public safety issue here that needs to be addressed.”

Simpson continued, “Instead, there’s an issue that just needs to be taken care of and that process is already in progress.”

I read that as we have a pretty good idea of what happened and who out perp is and just need to get our ducks in a row. No public safety concern.

From that 5NEWS link:

DesaRae Bridgeman also works at the E-Z Mart, store employees said.

First time I've seen that.

I saw that the other day and my first thought was that may be how mom met the BF. Work romance blssomed.

I haven't seen an address for the specific E-Z Mart, but there is one located at 715 SW Ave. A in Bentonville.

It is no more than 3-4 blocks from the three houses on SE Ave. A.

In fact, it looks like one could short-cut behind those houses and get to that E-Z by foot in a short amount of time.

Not sayin' anything, but just sayin'.

“Today is the day that we are going to make the best use of that information by reviewing it, assembling it, documenting and observations related to that information,” Bentonville Police Chief Jon Simpson.

Snip

“All in all I think there were about 50 items of evidence and clearly a lot more items documented. In a case like this I guess you never know on the front end what might become important and that’s why that documentation comes in,” says Simpson.

Bentonville's populace should take pride in their LE; they are being particularly thorough in this investigation.

I am pretty sure I read that he was on video surveillance at work during the period of 10 to 7. Wonder what time Jersey went to bed or was last seen? LE states she went missing between the hours of midnight and 6:45 am. Whre does the midnight come from? Is that when mom.went to bed and last sww Jersey?

I am going to try to find a link about the BF on video at work.

Here's one thing strange about the claim he was on video. Long ago, my husband managed a few different EZ Marts and they all had fake cameras. So, unless EZ Mart has changed a great deal, there's not going to be any video of anything there.

Oh my--this is a sad case. I lived in BV in 1974-1975 and had a nice apartment on that street--so many years ago. Waltons was still on the square as a 5 and dime (I'm old!). I could walk to the square. I knew several LE back in the day and they were good people. I hope they solve this case soon. My oldest was Jersey's age when we moved there and I always felt so safe in Bentonville.

If you're old I'm ancient - I remember Walton's 5 and 10 from the '60s (possibly the late '50s). Also being inside Walmart Store Number 1 in Rogers, which opened in '62: Walmart "Discount City."

From all I can glean from news reports children are still safe. I don't think there is a crazy pedo on the loose. Maybe a pedo but not a random one. jmo

For anyone just coming to the case, Britain's Daily Mail has a new and fairly thorough account, with pictures.

That is WAY back! I didn't live in the area until '85, but we used to visit my grandmother in Gravette back in the '60s and '70s. I didn't even know there was a downtown Bentonville -- just thought there was nothing in the area except Fred's Hickory Inn. The changes since '85 are dramatic, especially since they built 540. I taught at the U of A, and had to take what's now Walton Blvd/Business '71 all the way down to Fayetteville. The only nice, new neighborhood then was "El Contento." Love that name!

Guess things have changed in many ways and definitely not all for the good.

Starting when I was maybe eight, I spent a week with my grandmother in Faytetteville every summer; I remember being allowed to walk downtown (nearly a mile) by myself (and barefoot, no less). Things have changed.

Still only one recent arrestee in for failure to report as a sex offender - although the newest guest of Benton County does have a rather unfortunate surname:

I saw that! But looks like he was in a domestic disturbance with his roommate.

Meanwhile, it is still unclear where Jersey's biological mother, DesaRae, was at the time of the missing persons call. Bentonville Police Department said that certain details of the case were being withheld 'to maintain the integrity of the investigation'.

Hmmm. Odd quetion to ask out of the blue and even odder to me is the withholding of an answer.

What do you guys make of it?

Article also says she was found 10 minutes after the call. Now this tells me either the person who called told them where she was or no one had even looked for her in the neighborhood. Very strange to me. jmo

Remember, Daily Mail is a UK tabloid - though they do use U.S. sources for their info, only Fox News (another red arrow) is linked in that story (though ABC News is also referred to); authorship is attributed to a "Daily Mail Reporter" - and has been known to get details wrong, so for a timeline I'd probably double-check AP sources too.
