Holly denied harming Jersey in his first 2 interviews. He said the killer better not let him find him before the police does. #HollyTrial

Holly pleaded "Not Guilty," so case goes to trial.

In most states (all?? IDK), a deal can be made until the jury goes to the jury room for verdict deliberation. Who knoze what might happen? I feel sure the trial is all about getting LWOP at the penalty trial from the defense's standpoint, IMO.

Maybe it's all about the mitigation/penalty phase then, with his childhood history, etc.

Agreed, Hoosgirl -- I think we'll see (or read!) a lot of that in the penalty phase of this trial. The DT must know that proving him NG would be a very tall order.

And I don't see this particular defendant on the witness stand....

I was this morning having a jam session with a mammogram machine... All is well, but my body is still mad as heck at me. Yes, TMI. :D

Here's some print news:

Ty, borndem, and awfully sorry to hear about your not so fun morning!

I wish the media would tell us a little more of what the defense had to say in opening arguments!

You said it, hoosgirl. For those of us who have "been in the courtroom" via live-streaming, having to rely on MSM and tweets -- as good as they are, and they're good -- is just not the same. Like kissing your brother/sister and all that, right?? Frustrating. And a bit surprising -- but if the state or the courts, etc., don't allow it, well that's that. Also, sadly it appears that this case isn't getting a lot of national attention -- especially with the theater-killer trial going on now.

Maybe MSM will be generous with what both sides said, etc., etc., after both sides are completely done with that part of the trial.

Police detective said scratch marks on Jersey's neck was from her attempting to pull on pajamas in the attack. #HollyTrial

bbbm

That's kind of odd-sounding to me. Why wouldn't the scratches on her neck be from her trying to pull the pajamas or the perp's hands off her neck and scratching herself in the process? If the defendant told them that is what happened, then I'll buy it. Just thinking out loud.

And the horror and cruelty of that act -- he strangled that little girl with her own pajamas. OMGosh. Makes me angry, angry, angry, and makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. What a neanderthal, IMO. SMH. Dammit. She was just a sweet little girl.

I don't think the lack of coverage has anything to do with the theater killer trial. That trial is hardly dominating the news. I think it is b/c there was very little national coverage when the case happened (likely due to Jersey never been a missing child where there would be pleas, searches, press conferences, etc) so there is very minsicule recogntion, and therefore interest, of this case outside of the immediate area.

Thanks so much to all of you who have posted. I wish I could sit here with you. Life is crazy right now, I can't wait to have time to watch a trial live again. Jersey is very close in my heart. Her death was horrific. I do believe there will be justice here.
