Thank you Queen B! Jersey will be in my heart forever.

I also love that there will be a Dove Release in Jersey's honor! If I had known sooner, I would have made arrangements to be there. But I will be there in spirit. If my Mom is still at work I am going to ask her to go in my place. The cemetery is literally right behind her workplace.

I am so happy that this family will finally be able to start healing!

Jury recommend life sentences for rape and kidnapping and 20 years for residential burglary.

Okay, I see -- 20 years for the burglary; the rape & the kidnap gets him LWOP; for murder, he gets death. Excellent. Yesssssss!

No surprise -- child murder coupled with rape is too, too, horrible to simply give LWOP. IMHO.

:tyou:Thanks to all of you for being here -:tyou:- we really had a good group of folks :discuss: to witness in the only way we can for sweet Jersey, her mother, her sister, and all those who love her and will miss her for the rest of their lives. I think we had a fair and reasonable judge, and a dedicated prosecution, and even the defense seemed to be reasonable, somehow knowing what they might try to do and knowing what would not be possible.

:blowkiss::seeya::cheer:

And our good Mods took good care of us, too!! :gomods:

:websleuther:I'm hoping to run into you Sleuthers again, sooner rather than later. I will definitely keep tabs on the Gabriel Gaeta trial -- he is charged with rape & murder in the death of Jenise Wright up in the state of Washington. Yes, another child taken in such a harsh and much-too-early way. His trial is dated -- at this time -- to be July 17, 2015. No idea about live-streaming, etc.

Keep the faith, friends. :grouphug:Let us do what we can when we can.:grouphug:

There are some absolutely beautiful pictures of the Dove Release on the Memorial Page. Brought me to tears. I think this release was a start for the family. Today, they released Jersey and her spirit soared. Now they can truly begin to heal.

Thanks for all your updates. Glad the monster got what he deserved. Let's hope any appeal to death penalty fails.

I have been following this case since the very beginning in november of 2012 but there are two questions I have that I haven't been able to find an answer to. I don't know if the information I'm looking for has been released to the public or not, but I don't think it's appropriate to ask Jersey's family so I'll ask here. My first question is considering that Holly was Jersey's babysitter's boyfriend and that she was in contact with him various times prior to the tragedy, was there any signs of previous sexual abuse? & My second question is how did Jersey feel about Holly? did she like him, was she scared of him? If anyone could answer these two questions I'd appreciate it thank you!

*Related: general Arkansas capital punishment news*

Arkansas can execute eight death row inmates using its three-drug protocol, a split Arkansas Supreme Court ruled Thursday in upholding a state law that keeps information about lethal injection drugs confidential.

The inmates had argued that Arkansas' execution secrecy law could lead to cruel and unusual punishment and that the state reneged on a pledge to share information.

Attorneys for the state said at least five other courts have ruled that the three drugs used in Arkansas' protocol are acceptable, including the sedative midazolam. The U.S. Supreme Court upheld Oklahoma's use of midazolam last year.

First appeals hearing for convicted child killer
Today, the Supreme Court Justices heard the first oral arguments in the appeals process for Zachary Holly.

Holly's defense attorney, Robby Golden, says these are the three grounds for an appeal:

1. The circuit court erred by denying appellant’s motion for directed verdict as to residential burglary, because there was insufficient evidence that appellant “entered or remained unlawfully” in the home of another person.

2. The circuit court erred in granting the State’s motion in limine and finding that appellant’s offer to plead guilty to capital murder was not admissible as a mitigating factor to show acceptance of responsibility during the penalty phase of the trial.

3. The circuit court erred by denying appellant’s motions to suppress appellant’s custodial statements.

Convicted killer granted hearing

"Holly is fighting to have his conviction and sentences vacated. He filed a Rule 37 petition, which is a claim that he received ineffective assistance from his attorneys."

"Holly claims his attorneys didn't seek to exclude some evidence, conducted an ineffective jury selection, and failed to investigate and present evidence related to his mental-health issues."

"The judge scheduled the hearing for July 29."

Izzat all they've got?
Let's hope it's as limp as it sounds to my not-a-lawyer ears.
Usually, in serious cases like this with the DP as a possible sentencing verdict, the judge is over-careful so as not to have the case overturned or the judge's evidence rulings seen as improper. "Ineffective..." counsel and jury selection. Defense attorneys (I assume this applies in Arkansas) have to be DP-qualified to defend someone where the DP is a possible sentence. Those def. attys. weren't right out of law school. Grrrrr.

We'll have to be patient, as we all know all-too-well.
