Does anyone know why the minor victim chose NOW to ask for the record to be expunged? Nine years after the 2006 report and all the other minors have reached the age of majority. In all likelihood, she will be turning 18 soon, so was it to "beat the clock" before a birthday? Sort of like the last chance to ask?

And am I correct in assuming the minor victim would need help from her parents to make such a request? I don't think it's very likely she contacted an attorney on her own. JBD and MD seem to be at least a little bit legally savvy, or have a decent attorney of their own, so did they really expect to make such a request and not have it become public? Why make the request on behalf of one victim but not the others? I feel like there's a motive here we haven't discussed yet.

I just had another thought. Might the spouses of the victims now feel like they are "damaged goods" and have it affect their marriages? Will the unmarried victims have a chance to marry if they're not "pure"? It makes me sick to even think about.

A frightful fortress is our Fraud, could be the Duggarian anthem.

Tug the threads and see what you see everyone...no one can possibly believe that there arent some common predilections between all of these folks.

LOL. Got it. Nice pun.

ETA: Now I have this song on my brain and probably will all day.

If that's how the spouses feel, they're better off without them.

Thank you for your kind words. I read them and believe that they are true. I just struggle very badly nowadays with abuse that happened years ago. I guess what I'm saying is my abuse was never dealt with properly and I doubt the duggars was. I was blamed for my abuse and these poor girls probably were too. My parents covered up and protected my abuser but not me and it seems that's what happened to the duggar girls as well.

I suppose I am worried that while the duggar girls seem fine and content (for the most part obviously we only know what we see on tv) that later in life it may hit them in a way that is so damaging they could end up in emergency crisis. Like I did. Its like one day you're cruising down the road of life and everything is fine in your world and then suddenly BAM your world is turned upside down over something that happened years ago when you were a child and you begin to suffer horribly mentally. That's what happened to me anyway.

Maybe my mind isn't destroyed as you say, but it FEELS like it is as the effects of the trauma are sinking in and wreaking havoc in my brain. Song22 also said she suffered a crisis due to dealing with her childhood abuse recently. When I was hospitalized the last time, one of the doctors told me "I can't tell you how many people we get in here (the psychiatric hospital) in their 30's and 40's who are just beginning to deal with their child abuse." So, I think it may be a semi common thing (I don't know how common, but enough for this doctor to notice it)

People seem to be doing ok in life and suddenly years later in adulthood they start suffering mentally from childhood abuse. If you would have asked me 4 or 5 years ago if I thought my child abuse was gonna have any negative effects on me in the future I would have said "No, because it would have already effected me by now and it hasn't. I'm fine." I never would have imagined I would end up hospitalized.

I believe this probably comes from the abuse not being properly dealt with at the time. If I would have gotten professional help as a child after being abused and then protected from my abuser afterwards, I probably wouldn't have these problems now. I just worry the duggar girls seem ok, but in 10 or 20 years could be spiraling out of control suffering the effects of their abuse that they weren't able to process or deal with earlier in life because they were never provided the proper treatment and protection.

There has to be some way you can go back in time through counseling and rescue your inner little girl. Call to her scoop her up and protect her, bring her with you into adulthood. My heart goes out to everyone who was robbed of their childhoods. (Just my thoughts)

ciao

I'm not about to read that but why can't a baby crawl off a blanket? Is that a SIN? Despicable and guess what , Duggars? You want to know who Jesus loves more than your fake butts? Babies !!!!!!! Countless verses about Christ loving children and you're beating them for crawling off a blanket........... shame on you !!!!!!!!!

Yes, of course. But it's another way they will be victimized. Would their parents take them back? Live with an older brother?

It's not about actually leaving the blanket, it's about submitting to total control and following rules without question.

Blanket training from the Duggars: http://www.duggarfamilyblog.com/201...g-self-control.html?showComment=1389999994726

Here's how it works:
"I'll sit him in a chair, and I'll say, 'Okay, Mommy's going to sit beside you, and you're going to practice being still and quiet...yes ma'am?'...We may do that two or three times a day for about a week, and usually they catch it."

"What they're learning is self-control. ...They're learning to obey Mommy's voice." One of Michelle's favorite mantras is "The first time I say it, you obey it."

"Then it can be transferred to when you're in the grocery store and they're sitting in the cart....They can learn to do that wherever they are because it's trained in their little hearts."

Michelle also stresses the importance of pouring out the praise. She and Jim Bob believe that one of the most vital parenting tips is to "praise your children ten times more than you correct them."

It's sickening , whatever it is. I'm about sick to death of these ' Christians' who give all the rest of us a bad name. It's hard enough to be a Christian in this society without everyone in the world labeling us as crazy because of people like this. So from a Christian who does not beat their infants with spoons, does not apologize and protect pedophiles , has very good friends who are homosexual, has very good friends who are other religions and even atheists , please hear me, we are not ALL insane. Some of us are regular people ! Please don't think the Duggars are an indication of how American Christians live ! To the Duggars, stay off the TV and get your house in order, actual order !

It's all about breaking the spirit, some spirits break easily, some you can't totally break, and some that you thought were broken, will surprise you later and rebel. I know exactly what you are talking about, and it scares me how Christians seem to be lumped into the same category. Many, many years ago being born and raised a Catholic, I was never taught to shun/hate/take offense to others who were not like me. My mom who was a wonderful person, good Catholic, who would have helped anyone. A person actually told me that when she died she wasn't going to Heaven because she was not a born again Christian. Another lovely person told me my two girls were going to go to Hell because we didn't baptize them. I don't belong to any religion, to nothing for various reasons, but I certainly know there are wonderful people out there that don't just say they are a Christian, but practice Christianity.

Is it a fact that he's living on his own?? I find that fascinating, if true. You don't hear much about that, and I've never seen his bachelor pad.

I have not seen his place either. It was just mentioned on one of the shows. If i find a link I will post.

Um, okey dokey. I guess the blanket training helps the kids prepare for their "jurisdictions:"

The older boys are in charge of the yard and fireplace. The girls make lunch and supper, and everyone helps clean up. Other jurisdictions include maintaining the kitchen, clothes' closet, upstairs hallway, living room, dining room, and playroom. One of the little tikes is in charge of rounding up the laundry, and another is responsible for emptying the various garbage bins throughout the house and disposing of the trash in the dumpster outside.
