I read in the newspaper published in whatever major city is closest to That Family that a reporter simply stumbled on the file mistakenly set out mixed in with public records at the court records office. Mistakes happen.

Think of this: Suppose some other 15 y old boy, say, a male babysitter at the Duggar home had sexually molested and raped (by legal definition, rape includes penetration) 5 Duggar children. Using the Rocket Scientist reasoning of ole' JimBob, well, if it happened one time, then no biggy-pass go and collect $200, if it happened two times- no biggy just tell the babysitter just to pray a tinch xtra---after all the babysitter is just a child, if it happens three times-no biggy but I'm thinking I am getting a 'C-' in parenting + LOL God is testing me' LOL, if it happens four times and the molestation/rape is the 15 year old on a 5 year old little girl - LOL I will have that babysitter go do construction work for 3 month & we will shed tears as we drive off LOL and oh BTW, the 15 y old cannot possibly be a pedophile because you can only be a pedophile if you were 16 or over and did that................ Euww !!!!!!!!!

IMO, the parents ought to go do 3 years in prison and then get locked up indefinitely in a max' security psych unit for the crimi_lly in@ane. IMO

I haven't watched the interview yet but my daughter is a huge fan of the show and has been watching it for the longest time. When she heard the reports about Josh her actual response was this...."Hey mom! I always knew there was something creepy about Josh other than his eyes!
I just was in shock to hear my 12 year old say that. I never really paid that much attention to the show other than watching it with my daughter some of the times. It was the parents that gave me the creeps the first time I saw the show. They just seemed really fake to me for some reason and now I understand.

The only thing I want to say is just because you are religious, or on TV, or have good parents, or seem like you were innocent, does NOT mean that you are just a good person who made a big mistake. He may very well be a exactly what his action define. At 14 with all those rules he still risked it and did it at least 3 times (could have been many more times). I have raised boys, 3 in fact and I can tell you that at 14 if my son was touching 5 year old girls I would have freaked out. However I will say that I wonder if he himself was ever molested by one of the men he was forced to "bond" with. I asked this because it would be simpler and more gratifying thing to just fool around with a girl his own age, sneek out be rebelious. The fact that he just skipped over that and went right to a sister and a baby at 5. That is very disturbing, because 14 year old boys do not think sexually about a 5 year olds unless they are a predator.

ITA. A 5 yo is pre- pubescent, has no breasts or other secondary sex characteristics. What would be the purpose of offensively touching a 5 yo girl when you are 15? It is not for their breasts. Is it because they are too young to tell? Or be believed? Or because their vaginal area has not changed?

I don't know what label the Duggars would prefer to use to describe these acts by their son. But IMO, it is commonly known as child molestation. Recurrent child molestation is a pedophile. IMHO.

Most 15 year old males have pubic hair, under arm hair, a maturing voice, and the beginnings of facial hair, way into their puberty. <---that is not a "kid" or a "child".

I agree with this whole heartedly. I have one son and 3 yrs younger, one daughter. I have thought what a horrible, heart breaking and devastating position it would be.

Yes, but I doubt you would wait 16 months, until a girl NOT your own child was molested for you to take action. And I will bet my last dollar that was only because the Duggars feared outside investigation.

Those girls not only deserved counseling, but NEEDED it. Yet they were relagated to a place of inconsequence, as per usual in their cult.

A 15-year-old is often a man, physically speaking. And even if not, he was damn sure more than 5 years older thsn his victims! Where is the parental love and support for the victims?

I support your view on this. It's not the same as my view but I can totally see both sides. I agree that until we are in this exact situation, there is no way to know how we might respond. I do feel the odds of Josh being a danger as an adult are high, however. I respect your very compassionate side, Scarlett .

I do know exactly what I'd do in this situation, since I was molested at age 13 by my uncle (mother's brother). I was too ashamed to report him and it took me years to tell my parents, and I wasn't believed when I did. But I never minimized it, and if I could today, I'd have him prosecuted. He's dead now, I did get the satisfaction of stomping on my grave, and I boycotted his funeral and never let him anywhere near my baby daughter. I never let him have access to me ever again at family functions no matter how hard my family tried to push us together (seating us at the same table, trying to get me to show him pictures, drive him, etc.), even if I risked getting in trouble for it. The money he sent me for my wedding I donated to a woman against rape group! And I got my own therapy as an adult. That's what I would and DID do!!!
