Ben Seewalds wife 22 and Derick Dillards wife ------ No-one called Michelle - JBD's wife (50 something). How demeaning.

I noticed that too. There must be some logic behind this. Someone must have asked they be referred to or at least their marital names mentioned. Are they trying to put a little space between themselves and the Duggars proper? Could the husbands be ' pulling rank' so to speak and saying ' hey these are our wives now and no longer a part of this looney house of Duggars ' ? ** Speculation**

SCHMAE, I saw the video...oh, oh my! So inappropriate on so many levels.

There is a bit of opinion on here as well and it's over a year old so this was NOT put together in the last two weeks.

That is exactly what M and JB say happened. Their very good boy came to them with a soft conscious and confessed to the first ' series' of acts related to sisters asleep in their beds. Clearly that talk went so well, the behavior escalated some months later .

Their version is laughable .. On what planet would a teenager just come crying to his parents because he groped his sisters? I think everything they said was a lie trying to make Josh and their family still sound like good Christians. Much more likely the girls told Michelle, then Michelle refused to believe it until he was actually caught or similar.

Dont they get that this makes it all worse? All of it. We already knew they abdicated their responsibility when they chose to protect the one over the rest of the family. Saying that it wasnt molestation if it was over clothes and there wasnt a big age gap, and that they arent mandatory reporters is insane.

Supporters, what more do you need to know? Children, what more do you need to know? JB just threw your brother to the wolves-arent you wondering who is next?

So if their teen daughters had had sex with a boy close to their own age, it would be OK? As long as they don't kiss?

I think the moral to the Duggar story is if white, heterosexual, Christian Republicans have any kind of sex with anyone or behave in any sexual way ( dry humping at the push & putt) , it's morally ok :) So now we know. If you want to get to heaven, join their church and prepare of hedonism !

Trying to catch up here and haven't even commented about all of this yet, BUT had to put my 2 cents worth in about your question.

Can you just imagine how much sex has gone on between those parents? The Duggar parents have been going at it like rabbits, IMO. My son and first daughter were 3 years apart, then my last daughter was 8 years later. Do you know anyone who gets pregnant every single time they have sex? I certainly do not. Out of 19 kids, can you just imagine how much sex it took? OMG.

Everything is all about sex in that house. The older ones know where babies come from and know what Mom and Dad are up to 24/7, LOL!

I am so furious at the parents and their child molester/pedophile (IMO) son Josh. If they know of 5 victims, then I would bet there are many more. If Josh had the propensity to molest 5 times, then he has and will molest many, many more. I just have to wonder how many more victims there are and know that he is probably still at it.

The parents are the ones who have put sex front and center in that family, IMO.

Ugh, ITA! Even worse, the Duggar household is sex-centered and purity-centered. Like I said earlier, there's a cognitive dissonance in that house. Big time.

And yeah, in cases like this it's reasonable to ask if the behavior continues, whether the abuser was abused himself, whether there are others in the family abusing/being abused, etc. Being reality tv personalities doesn't make a family magically immune to the findings of evidence-based research in cases of incest and sexual abuse.

And claiming that one's deity has passed judgement on and forgiven the abuser doesn't mean the abuser is excused from society's laws.

Actually Josh is primarily to blame, then the Duggar parents. They should all be prosecuted. By not reporting him, they aided and abetted in a crime.

Not to mention obstructing and hindering the investigation...

LisaB, I'm so sorry for everything you and your daughter went through, maybe your sister said that, because actually confronting such a horrible situation is too much for her to do? I have been thinking about this also, even though I don't have any boys, only two grown girls. Don't want people to think badly about me, I honestly didn't know you had to go to the police. I would have immediately taken my son to a psychiatrist, and would have done whatever I was told, even taking him to two or three doctors if need be. And then if I was told to notify the police, I would be terrified, but would do the right thing. A lot of people don't want outside people interfering with their family, but in cases like this, I can't see why a person would hesitate to take your child to a therapist.

Because a therapist is a mandatory reporter. It defeats the purpose of not telling the police.

Yes, they have always been obsessed with sex.

I wonder why the lawyers refused

I wonder if they refused because statute of limitations had already run out and the police couldn't make him come in so there was nothing to "defend" if you will?

So I watched it all last night I kept my nerves in check the entire time but lost my mind at so close to the end. Up till this point I wrote down notes to tell my mom who does not have cable. Most of my anger went towards my notes in big bold letters and angry doodles. The part that sent me off my rocker was

KELLY: What happens to the Duggars from here?

J.B. DUGGAR: I don't know if the rest of the family should be punished for acts of our children that happened 12 years ago or not, but, you know, we are fine whether they film us or not. We're going to go ahead and live life and serve god and make a difference in the world.
From transcript link posted earlier.

I replayed it 5 times to make sure I heard right, that they used the word children. Even then today when I saw the link to the transcript I thought you know what you had to have heard that wrong. So I looked and sure enough my ears heard right and they were not taken over by my dislike for these parents. They heard the word "children" spoken as if the girls held some part of the blame.

I don't think that means anything. I think it was just misspeak.

I will watch the girls tonight because really to me their opinion matters.

I'm sure the wagons are circling, but I would like to hear from Josh's wife. I realize Anna's part of this religious culture, but did she fully understand the severity of her husband's "mistakes"? I suspect Anna was given a white-washed version of Josh's inappropriate actions and didn't know the extent of the violations against young girls. Perhaps if the Duggar gravy train is cut off, and the couple struggles financially, Anna Duggar would be willing to do an interview.

  • #955
Anna will just say that God has forgiven Josh for his childhood mistakes born of curiosity as has she, and she's married the best man on the planet. They're all so full of BS it's ridiculous.

IMO, the Duggar (parents) interview was orchestrated to attempt to get sympathy from the segment of the population that doesn't know all the details or actually read the reports. They were probably coached on how to spin the lies and act like victims to garner sympathy and support and they will succeed with those that are ignorant to all the facts.

I find it very strange that after what Josh did, the parents altered the entire home and household rules (so they say) because of Josh's actions. That's how this family lives though. They restrict and isolate their children because of "others" roaming eyes or whatever. They are in essence punished, not for their actions, but because of others actions or potential actions. The offenders should be the ones punished and restricted. This family sends a horrible message and that message also enables offenders from taking full responsibility.

I really hate that the sisters are having to go through this. I don't like that they are going to do this interview and minimize what happened. The minimizing of their brothers and parents actions on national television, is NOT good. I highly doubt they have received any counseling on sexual assault and they really don't understand at this point and time, for a variety of reasons.

I also believe that the entire family is most likely in panic mode, wondering how they are going to survive without the income and whatever they say is going to be geared toward damage control.

Jim Boner and Mushell are shining examples of mixed signals and kool-aid dispensing.
Josh is a wuss, a coward and his guilt too evident to be covered up by the tears of his mother and sisters.
Where are the babysitter and the other victims in this molestation defense?????? Why only two sisters talking - two who call themselves "victims" yet swear that nothing happened?
The zeppelin is on fire.

I am just using this post to jump off into some theories of mine...
I am thinking the Megan Kelly interview with M and JB was scripted....

and that Megan mostly or completely relied on asking questions that M and JB had read/heard in the media...and that they wanted to respond to...

I can't help hoping that with all these revelations of lying by M/JB since the interview was aired.... That Megan will address THESE issues tonight... Or some time in the near future...

I am disappointed that she did not seem to "do her homework/research" prior to the interview... That she may have relied only on M/JB's complaints....

IMO... Ethically speaking... I feel these glaring inconsistencies should be addressed on her show now....
If you scroll down to the first photo on this blog, is looks like she is holding a piece of paper in her lap, which looks awfully script-like.

BBM - This is why the two oldest victims are going on primetime TV tonight, so they can try and land that Duggar Daughter TV pilot from TLC. They will complain about being exploited by the media (you know the same media that has been funding their lifestyle since 2006) while they allow Fox News to exploit them for ratings. :moo:

Anna apparently was led to believe that it was something that happened when he was very young and only once. I believe there is an article that I linked to yesterday that discussed what her options might be at this point, considering that she has two daughters that she has to be worried about but at the same time has four children and very little in the way of marketable job skills. it was also mentioned that they may have a covenant marriage. In a covenant marriage, the standards required to secure a divorce are much higher than in an ordinary marriage.
