And... Unfortunately... Megan Kelly didn't "do her journalist homework", and/or ignored much of the background true information, and/or just let the Duggars guide the interview...
:stormingmad:
Note: I am actually a fan of MK when it comes to many of her other interviews... But I am very, very disappointed in her loss of ethics in this case...

When Radar Online contacted Derick Dillard via his Walmart account on June 9, 2015 an auto-reply revealed that he has left the company.
“I have recently accepted a position outside of Walmart and am no longer working for the company,” Dillard’s email said.

As much as I am super disappointed in the way MK conducted the interview I am pretty sure the Duggars set up some prerequisites before agreeing to do it and if she had strayed, they would have walked. This is a highly controlled public relations campaign by this family and they're not going to allow anyone to 'paint' the story any other way than the way the Duggars and their lawyers want it done. Period ! It was their way or the highway and MK wanted the interview so she did it their way . My opinion only but I'm sure we can all agree it's pretty close to accurate![]()
Good points... the interview was a Duggar driven "My way... Or the highway"....
At least 5 minor girls still live there by my count.
Isn't it 7? There are 9 girls total and 2 have married. Janna, Jinger, Joy-Anna, Johanna, Josie, Jordyn and Jennifer, I think.
Here we go again.
Millions of Americans are shocked — shocked — to learn that the family showcased by a popular reality show is dysfunctional in ways outside the boundaries of the program's carefully scripted choice of dysfunction.
We are, one more time, a nation betrayed.
Jessa insisted her parents did everything right. And maybe, like Jill and Jessa insisted in their interview with Kelly, nothing bad really did happen and they never carried any real shame for it because, as Jessa pointed out, Josh was very subtle about the inappropriate touching, even when the girls were awake, so it’s not like they were living in a house of horrors. She insisted it was so far in the past it was over. I remember my mother said the same thing. “He’s not hurting you anymore,” she’d said. “It’s all over.” As if that were some kind of comfort.
Nevertheless, as I watched the Duggar girls talk to Kelly, I decided to believe them. They must be allowed to characterize the experience for themselves, and if they agree to let their abuser define it in order to put it behind them, that’s their right. I’m a bit envious. Frankly, I’m tired of my truth. My body is heavy with it. I want to heave it up over the side of this ocean liner and dump it into the deep seas of amnesia. Watching Jill and Jessa, I long for that. I have no idea if there is more to their story. I simply wish for what they have, the ability to live lightly.
In a few days, the Duggars will recede into the background of popular culture, just another casualty in our fascination with sex abuse scandals, which has been going on as long as sex has been taboo. However, Jill, Jessa and the rest of Josh’s victims won’t be the same. They’ll talk about how God has brought them closer as a family, and closer to him. They’ll believe it, for the most part. But if Jill and Jessa are anything like me, then in the recesses of their psyches, a long smoldering fuse has sparked to life and there is no moving on. Abuse of any kind, particularly this kind, boomerangs back and the more we work to suppress it, the stronger it becomes. It must be integrated. So it’s not in the past. It never will be again. Because forgiveness is not a one-time act, not in these matters. It’s an ongoing battle. Otherwise, it’s not really forgiveness. It’s denial.
It was only when the family was set to make an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2006 that someone reached out to producers and informed them of these prior incidents, leading those producers to contact authorities and notify them of what they had been told by this individual through email.
According to TMZ, the Harpo staff received the email at 7:30am and contacted authorities right away on December 7.
Police then called Michelle and Jim Bob at 1:17pm telling them they needed to bring their son in for questioning.
Winfrey meanwhile cancelled the planned interview immediately and sent the family home.
This sequence of events has many wondering how TLC and Discovery Health could have been unaware of the molestation claims. Oprah had the biggest talk show in the country at the time, and no doubt it took a lot of work to book the family on her show.
The network would have been thrilled at the publicity such an appearance would generate for their show. No doubt network executives would have demanded an explanation as to why the interview was cancelled at the last minute.

( I don't actually vote any more, but if I did)
No, no, I realize there are lots of reasons women feel more comfortable giving birth at home. I was mom to two very high risk babies so mandatory, early C-sections.Sorry if this is too OT, but there are reasons to prefer a midwife and/or home births that have nothing to do with religion, money, or going off the radar (though I imagine the Duggars' reasons are included on that list).
I chose a midwife and birthing center to bring my son into the world because I don't believe giving birth (in normal circumstances) is a medical event. If I'd had another child I would have chosen to go the one step further and give birth at home.
ETA: about Duggar midwifery. Just read Gawker article about this sect's notions of midwifery. Lunacy. "Midwives" tell stories of slow labor that is hastened by the midwive's search through the house for works of the devil, and finding then burning......Cabbage Patch dolls.
Positively medieval. I'm surprised they don't burn daughters at the stake and think the world flat.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar under investigation after 'they REFUSE to allow human services worker to check on the welfare of minor child in their home'
I've had it with these 'parents', and I use that term loosely. :gaah:
If you have nothing to hide...........
Maybe some of the younger children are sensing a way out of this ? That is, if one of them called DHS , asking for help.
It's chilling to think that the facade of a "big, happy family" could be hiding more abuse. Certainly I think those kids are being controlled. What if they're being punished too harshly ; and one of the kids called on May 27, asking to be taken out of the home ?
Might the social worker have been trying to respond to reports of bruises ? All of that modest clothing can conceal marks.
Sounds far fetched , but there are some who know how to put bruises where they won't show.
In my opinion, this just gets worse.
