I've been out of the country and came back to the People Magazine spread AND JD's revelation that he's a hypocrite and has been "unfaithful" to his wife. JD was/is a ticking time bomb. The family's denial of his problems is mindblowing. I read the article and just cannot believe how they ever thought "we" the public would ever come to terms with his behavior!!

You think that means sexually ? Because I would venture to say women are not to submit sexually to God ? And yes they forget all the verses that are telling men how to behave . I had a friend who used to totally diss on this verse , claiming women's liberation type talk and I tried to explain to her that if the husband was following ALL of God's rules for him, being an absolute angel on earth and pure in every thought and action, as the husbands are told, then wives would be happy to ' submit ' because they would feel that the husband would never make a wrong choice or a wrong rule or a demand. So, if the husband is as near to Christ like as he can be, he would never ASK for sex from an exhausted mother of 18 kids when she's not in the mood to. It would NOT happen. Becuase he respects her and honors her and wants her to be happy and content at all times. But , sadly, husbands are not like that , are they ? Sorry , dudes. We're not submitting to your nonsense !

I always think of the little gold star stickers I had in kindergarten that the teacher put on a chart for good behavior. This one may require some investigating.

And sidenote, I was just thinking of all the Duggar rules that Josh does break, why not break the masturbating rule once in awhile and give that wife a break? kwim

Oh I don't agree with it at all. In fact our wedding vows did not have "obey" in them for a reason. But I'm sure that verse is one of them that those type of folks use to make the women do anything and everything the men want.

Here is my nickel and a half. I think when you raise children in a completely sexually repressed household this is what happens. You make monsters.

It is one thing to tell your children that the bible says to save yourself for marriage it is another thing to completely repress the sexual side of your child. To make them act in the confines of something that is not natural in the least.

Had Josh gotten proper sexual training growing up, understood biology and normalcy and what happens with the opposite sex and had the opportunity to date normally and kiss girls and enjoy his budding sexuality as opposed to repressing it, I think this would be a completely different story.

I think the touching is a problem, and shows what and how he grew up. I think the cheating shows that he just wanted to see what was out there and have an experience that was not preordained for him. I can not fault him for that.

I am not mad at him. I feel like he was pressured by his parents to be a certain way and knew he was not that way but still wanted to live in their approval. Now he has 4 kids and the world knows he has cheated. That stinks for anyone.

I believe in this case, His parents and the way they have raised their kids are mostly responsible for his issues.

I am not one to blame parents but in this case I see a direct link.

That is so horribly sad and wrong. Physical intimacy has many different facets. What kind of love would it be if my husband didn't care if I wanted to participate or not, but only that I fulfill his needs? And what about if I fell ill, disabled, or mentally incompetent and couldn't perform? What kind of love would it be if my husband wouldn't love me then? It's not frequent sex that keeps a man from infidelity, it's his commitment to the vows he spoke before God.

Because of my childhood history of SA, it is very important that I be a willing participant in physical intimacy. Going through the motions when I'm not emotionally or physically involved takes me to a dark place. My husband is so very respectful and understanding of this. He cares more that my security in him remains strong than he does what pleasure my body can provide. It saddens me that anyone would think that their body kept their spouse interested more than their heart and soul.

If he had harmed his sisters when he was a younger child, I could agree with you. But, he didn't. He was well int his teen years. Let's say he was just "curious" and repressed. He still knew it was wrong. He did not seek to explore his sexuality with a similar aged sibling (which he had,) he chose to molest young children in vulnerable positions. The is the crux for me. He chose children who had less of a voice. He knew it was wrong then, by his own admission at the time. Yet, he returned to them and continued. (And, to be blunt...I think it's wildly naive to believe he only "touched" them.) He knows it's wrong now, by his own admission. When do we stop allowing the fault of the parent's in childhood, to allow people who know right from wrong...off the hook? He is a grown adult with a wife and children, who paid EXTRA, so he could get his money back if he didn't have an affair. How long can he hide behind childhood and people not just accept...he's really a sick creep. Did childhood create him? We will never know. But he's not a child. He can choose to not cheat. He can choose to not lie. But he didn't.
