AR - Josh Duggar Admits Molesting Girls As A Teenager - #3

OK does anyone else wonder why so many of the fundie teachings and isolation practices are perfect for creating and repressing victims, and on top of that wonder why we see so much sexual abuse coming from these quarters? Is it possible this kind of mentality is attracting pedophiles as well as untreated molestation victims blaming themselves, and carrying the abuse forward? I'm really starting to think the two go together and I'm also thinking this stretches back for generations. It would be interesting to see a study on that.

It is the perfect dysfunctional environment to breed and harbor abuse.

There are all kind of dysfunctional families in society. We already know that the dysfunction in families can carry on for generations. We already know how families can become divided if someone speaks up to try and stop the cycle.

Those that follow these beliefs are part of a much larger society than a individual dysfunctional family. Everything is harbored in that society. Who do they turn to in this isolation? When they cry out for help, they are surrounded by not only family members but a entire cult that ensures they are kept quiet and repressed.

It has to be incredibly difficult to break away, because you know you are going to be shunned by all of the people that you love.

I'm sure so many feel trapped and hopeless. When you are brought up and surrounded by all of this, it is hard to imagine that there is help and support for victims. They are conditioned to believe that the rest of society is evil though. That is just one more tactic they use to maintain control and silence.

Please, we have to make a pact to ride this out and ensure this family is done and will have to step out of the limelight to deal with their horrific issues.

I like The Little Couple. They are fun, positive, and like a breath of fresh air. They have a great outlook, and the grandparents are so loving and kind, as well. So, I'm not ready to boycott the whole network, yet.

I don't think he has. I do believe that in this case the statistic holds true. Why? Because if he had done anything to anyone else, we would have heard of it by now.

I just don't think anyone would be silent.

I just see so much oddness about their raising that I can see how that could contribute to this kind of behavior. Afraid to talk about it, afraid to ask questions afraid to express his feelings. Does that make it right? Nope. But I just can see so much around this that it is not clear and dry for me.

My son who is in elementary school just had a sex ed health class for 4 weeks. Just basic knowledge and what happens to boys in puberty, what to expect. We have already talked to him about some things and this was not about intercourse or anything but what it is like for a boy to go into puberty. What is normal for them.

I just don't see that happening for Josh. I think that he was a repressed boy who probably thought sex was a horrible thing and was curious about what girls looked and felt like. In a normal world he would have had a first crush or had kissed a girl .. or other normal things.. but in his world, I don't know.. All those hormones, no outlet...

I am not saying any of it is right. I just cannot take his upbringing and background out of it.

I really feel like if he was a pedophile or a criminal we would see that by now. We would see people crawling out of the woodwork accusing him.

I'm way behind, so this is added late...five girls isn't enough for you to call him a criminal? Five girls over time. None of them came forward. He is a criminal, he just hadn't been caught. He is a predator. He is dangerous.

Ok, let's mix it up a bit. If Josh was a 'normal teenage boy' of any religion in an average size family and worked at a day care at that age and did the exact same thing to 5 unrelated children who were customers at the day care, what would this be? Would anyone doubt he's a predator then? Would anyone not want him in jail then? If your opinion changes given this imaginary scenario then why are his sisters less victims than any other average girl of the same age?

If this environment encourages/attracts pedophiles, and the community kept secrets and handled things on their own and outside of the law, wouldn't that situation be very tempting to child molesters to get together and help each other secure children?

This is why it needs to be talked about. LE needs to know if Josh was molested or if Michelle was molested and there needs to be an investigation into it.

If everyone is keeping secrets than the true extent of any environment that hosts pedopholes won't be known.

I know! This is my only pause with TLC. I adore the Little Couple and Family. Jen rocks. I just adore her upbeat outlook on life.

That said, I also love ESPN but have not watched that network since they allowed that harridan Britt McHenry, to keep her job.

It sucks, because my absence is likely undetectable, but I feel like if I don't stand for SOMETHING, I stand for nothing.

I will miss The Little Couple, but I feel like they are the kind of decent people who would support any boycott of a network who glorified child molesters.

We shall see.

Yeah exactly .. I'd have help and support in regards to design themes throughout the home, we'd eat organic .. film would be a central focus of our lives, and once we'd had the obligatory child (or not, perhaps we could tell the church we were infertile?), we could raise our furbabies in peace!
