I just never could do the throw something on the stove and spread the legs thing.

I crave intelligent conversation. I guess I would be shunned and called a feminist for wanting more.

The younger, less intelligent, brainwashed already by the religion...the better for these
loosers.

Anna is due sometime in late June/early July.
I believe she is about 3 weeks ahead of me.
(She was 9 weeks in late November reportedly.)

Looks like Josh and Anna fled the DC area. Their lease wasn't up until July/August and it's available for rent now, starting this month:

I hate to sound like I'm defending them...
Our lease wasn't up until August and we moved in May.
I am also due in July and I didn't want to wait until after the birth to move.
I am not planning a home birth but it would have been even more important if I was.
I had already heard that they were going to return to Arkansas since he resigned.
So I'm betting they just wanted to move before the birth. :twocents:

Yeah exactly .. I'd have help and support in regards to design themes throughout the home, we'd eat organic .. film would be a central focus of our lives, and once we'd had the obligatory child (or not, perhaps we could tell the church we were infertile?), we could raise our furbabies in peace! Damn .. it actually sounds great :)

Darn, why didn't I think of that?

As far as I know, you and your family are not in the public eye. These people are on tv and in politics.

They are paid very well to hide what really goes on and portray a false persona to the naive public.

I would like to clarify that I wasn't questioning molestation in this case (it's quite clear). I mean that I questioned it in my own experience, so this has brought much light to my personal situation. Josh was clearly a predator.

Not to worry, it was totally clear.

Some posts have been removed.

Please stay on topic. This thread is about Josh Duggar ... not the Catholic church, the Boy Scouts, extended family, or orientation.

I won't go into detail, but please know you are not alone in your thoughts and feelings. Also, please know that what the other person did was very, very wrong.

The worst thing we can do is sweep it under the rug and pretend it didn't happen or wasn't a big deal. We need to keep speaking out so we can try to stop this from happening to others.

I am more upset with this "culture" that offers a breeding ground for abuse right now than I am with the abuser that is the topic of this thread.

This abuse will continue and flourish in this environment with the teachings and mentality that they have. "Blind" failth.

OT, but regardless of punishing the offender, I'd like to think that this has been a very helpful thread for us here. So many people here have taught me so much.

I am well aware of that, I've disliked this family for years.
I have just waited for the day when this, or something else would come out.

However, Anna is still 37 weeks pregnant with her 4th child.
Regardless of anything else she is still going to give birth (and she prefers to birth at home.)
I am guessing she would like to be at least a bit settled before she gives birth.
I am also guessing moving immediately after is not high on her list of things to do.
We knew as soon as Josh resigned there was no reason they wouldn't move back to Arkansas.
It would have been pointless to wait until August to do so.

I'm not sure what false portrayal is occurring by them moving back, it seems pretty logical.
Lose your job - move back to where you have a job. Which they are doing.
Regardless of many of them being despicable humans, they are still human.
So some basic human emotions and logic can be applied to the situation. :twocents:

I'm sure that the folks here are united in hoping that Anna and her child will be well, and none of the folks here are responsible for any stress that might harm them.

This family can continue to play the game or speak out.

Am I suppose to have sympathy for someone that is pregnant in the (19 kids and counting) clan just because she is close to her due date?

If she is a victim of their culture and naive, yes I will give her sympathy. She is still young.

I will refuse to give anyone sympathy for teaching their children and continuing this cycle of abuse though.

A line has to be drawn somewhere.

  • #233
I'm not trying to give anyone sympathy.
I am simply trying to explain that there is an actual reason they would move right now.
Since I am also pregnant and also moved... I can understand that part of it.

Once he lost his job there... staying there until she delivered would make no sense.
They go back to Arkansas and she can birth with the Duggar girls there.
If she planned on paying a midwife, she longer has to do that.

It's not about sympathy, it's about pointing out that it's totally logical for them to move.
They have nothing to stay there for now. :twocents:

I don't disagree with your post -- but with regard to the bit I've copied above -- I really hope that you're not suggesting that she has one of the Duggar girls serve as her midwife. i would hope that she gets a trained and accredited midwife, if that's the route she wants, and if she knows a professional who will do that for free, all the more power to her. But it is my understanding that nobody in the Duggar household has professional training or accreditation -- it might even be against some patriarchal rule to get such education; who knows.

I have to wonder -- what credentials do they have?

Josh had to work for a family friend after all of the unspeakable acts happened.
Later, he was a spokesman for what has been basically identified as a hate group. And he had to resign after admitting to multiple counts of sexual assaults against children.

Other than that -- what does he have? All thing considered, I don't imagine that a graduate degree in Duggarology is worth very much.

I am not suggesting they do it, I'm saying they likely WILL.
I don't know what the history is with the other births.
I don't know if they had a trained midwife at the other births or not.
(Obviously they could say they did, but do we KNOW they did?)

Jill and Jana both have midwifery training and have assisted at many deliveries.
Jill is in school to be a midwife.
They may have just as much training as whoever attended the other births.
On the show I believe at least one of Anna's births never showed or mentioned a midwife.

They had a midwifery group lined up but I highly doubt they have one lined up in Arkansas.
Unless the family has some connections... booking a home birth midwife less than a month before your birth?
Pretty much impossible in my experience. They fill up quickly. :twocents:

I have a lot of respect for proper midwives. Do you have anything to suggest that they have been accredited? It does seem to me that the family's idea of proper education is a bit fluid and against formal standards. And, for what it's worth, I don't really think that Michelle's history is evidence of anything, other than a very sad story about luck, hubris, and patriarchy.

I know Jill is IN school. I never said any of them were accredited now.
Simply that she is actually training to be a midwife, which surprised a lot of people.

I don't think there is any proof that a trained midwife has been at any of Anna's home births.
It was always a big deal that Michelle and the girls were there.... but not much mention of anyone else.

So if they didn't have a trained midwife at the first 3... a midwife IN TRAINING would actually be an improvement.
It is possible that the midwife Jill and Jana work with will deliver Anna despite the short notice.
Jill SHOULD be finishing her training by the end of the year if she has continued it on schedule.
It also appears that at least Jill was present at Anna's first 3 births. :twocents:

I had been considering attending nursing school for a while, but the timing of it all wasn't working out, and I spent a lot of time in prayer, trying to figure out where God was leading me. Eventually, through my work with the local midwives, the door opened for me to enter into a distance-learning midwifery training program in Texas. This program, after about 3 1/2 years of schooling, would give me the education I need to become a licensed, Certified Professional Midwife (CPM). My parents and I prayed and talked about this opportunity, and in May of 2012, I started midwifery school. Currently, my life consists of studying like crazy to keep up with my schooling through this distance-learning program, and at the same time, working as the senior apprentice under a local, nationally certified licensed midwife to deliver babies in an out-of-hospital setting.

---------------------------------------

There are many joys of being a student midwife; for example, seeing previous clients return for subsequent pregnancies, laboring with a young, single mom who was giving her baby up for adoption, helping my sister-in-law bring my niece and nephews into the world, or just simply holding a newborn baby! I really love what I am doing, and am thankful for all these amazing opportunities!

I'm pretty sure this has been discussed before, but do you happen to know what sort of school she's in? Is this perhaps something akin to a mail-order education, or is this a religion-based program? As I've said before, I think that trained midwives can do terrific work in uncomplicated pregnancies, but I have to wonder if any of the Duggar kids even have the requisite education to enroll in a proper midwifery program, which is so sad.

All I know is what she says in that link. Sounds like an actual school to me. :dunno:
Shouldn't be a problem for any one of them to take a GED. They may even get diplomas.
I don't know how the Duggar's do it. I haven't ever looked into it.
