Duggars broke or greedy? http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/08/04/the-duggars-are-broke-or-just-greedy-as-hell.html

First, shortly after the cancellation of 19 Kids and Counting, Duggar daughter Jill and husband Derick Dillard asked again for donations to their tax-deductible organization Dillard Family Ministries, which funds their evangelical work in Central America.

Then, shortly after TLC reportedly confirmed the cancellation of her wedding special two weeks ago, newly-engaged Duggar niece Amy gave out an address on Instagram for any fans who would like to send “cards and etc.,” promising to “personally hand write” a letter to anyone who sent a card or—wink, wink—an et cetera

Next, on or around July 30, the social media hive mind spotted a donate button on the Duggar children’s YouTube channel Duggar Studios, which currently has just 15 videos, none of them longer than 10 minutes. The last video was uploaded three months ago and it is only 12 seconds long. After widespread outcry on Twitter, the donate button was removed.

Who would put their body throughout that? Thank God, probably some ancestor of yours or you would not be here today. Just because it is not average since 1960, does not mean that is all the world has ever known. Do a family tree. Lots of people had lots of kids and took better care of them than people with 2 kids today both working and using hired help for parents

Google "uterine prolapse". Also the world has more people in it that can be sustained.

So are you okay with all people breeding like rabbits, or just white Christians? For clarity.

I haven't followed closely enough to know about any of that. Nor am I certain Radar-On-Line is the bastion of honesty and journalistic integrity that the world needs.

Why would you post a strong opinion about something you admittedly hwve not bothered to read up on?

  • #684
No, you're mistaken. Sure, people did have larger families in the past, but even 10 kids would be well beyond the norm, even centuries ago. And I wouldn't celebrate such large families either -- they put the life of a mother in serious risk. Childbirth is risky, even (albeit minimally) today, but the risks increase incredibly astronomically as a woman ages and gives birth repeatedly. So, along with a lot of larger families in the past, there were a lot more women who never saw 40. I'm not going to 'thank God' for that.

Many of these large families also consisted of one father with numerous wives, one after another, who died in childbed.

But, yeah, lets do that again.

But would you broadcast someone's juvenile life just to, honestly,I don't what. My two oldest children have had very minor dealings with juvenile justice locally. But once they matured, I would hate to think it could be thrown in their faces at any moment by anyone. Now if they re-offend again later, they get what they get. But since I cannot read long on here without getting hateful, I do not know if he re-offended or not. There is a certain glee on these anti certain religions and lifestyles threads that scare me.

BBM gleeful and there aint no hiding it.

I'm just wondering how many of our ancestors had 19 kids. Even in the 60s,
when people still had large broods, 12 kids was considered the outer limits
and even then people rolled their eyes.

Personally, however repulsive I found it, I had nothing against JD and MD churning kids out. It was her smug, phony sorrow she pretended to have when she said she didn't hate gays but they wouldn't go to heaven, that they should never be allowed to adopt...
yeah, ok to pop out 19 kids but whatever we do, do not allowed those perverted gays to adopt a child in need, or foster them, or even be their teachers. Better to homeschool your kids.
I think many of the posters on here feel slightly guilty about how gleeful we are that karma bit them on the behind...but not as guilty as we're going to be about being gleeful when the whole mess finally unravels.
Have a feeling, because they just won't take their penance and just go away, that the tip of the iceberg is going to collide with a Leviathon of
hidden misdeeds spanning their entire movement.:jail:

My father, born in 1938, has 11 siblings and my grandmother lived into her nineties. Having fewer or more children is no guarantee of any certain length of life. And my family had multiple 10+ sibling families going back to the 1700s here in the states.

Well that in part explains why we are overpopulated.

JMO, but many people would not have been murdered/raped had the juvenile records of their killers been allowed to be public into adulthood.

Here's the thing: violent sexual offenders NEVER REHAB. They just don't.

Diddle your 5 year old sister when you are 14? You will diddle someone else's 5-year-old when you are 25.

Some broke can't be fixed. Ever. JD is a predator and his obnoxious breeder parents are worse than enablers, they are pimps, IMO.

Cockroaches.

My great aunt Edna smoked a pack of Camels and drank a fifth of Chivas every day, but I don't think that an anecdote like that should be used to suggest that her habits were healthy or helped with her longevity. Anecdotes aren't evidence, and the evidence is that women who have many children put both themselves and their babies at a greatly increased risk with each subsequent pregnancy. That's pretty much indisputable and everyone who is old enough to post here should know that.

Michelle Duggar was putting herself at risk with her pregnancies (as was her disgusting husband), and if memory serves, she miscarried the last time she announced her pregnancy. (And perhaps that wasn't the first time, either.)

BBM yes, we would. Posters here have read about hundreds of children molested by offenders and then the offenders went on to molest, torture and kill other children and even babies and toddlers. They almost always do it again, but escalate. That's why a juvenile, who molested innocent small girls, and received no help, then went on to have small girl children is going to be called out here, magnified here, attention drawn again and again to him here! This is the place where it happens, point zero.

I don't feel guilty for feeling their downfall is warranted.

They are grifters, charlatans and take it upon themselves to judge other peoples proclivities whilst offering up as chattel their own baby girls for Joshie's pervy enjoyment. Then when they got caught by their short curlies, they twist things to blame the girls, because obviously Joshie can't control his wee wee when little girls wear up-to-the-neck flannel nighties like the 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 they are.

That is who the Duggars are. Leeches. Frauds. Facilitators.

Perhaps worse still -- they're missionaries. Not that being a missionary is in itself a bad thing (though it is not my cup of tea). But their mission is promoting a gospel and lifestyle that is hateful, misogynistic, chauvinistic, anti-education, anti-government, and hypocritical.

Agree! And we aren't talking about TPing someone's house or even getting caught smoking some weed. We are talking fingering little girls, his SISTERS, for Christ's sake, and fondling their breasts and genitals OVER clothing as well.

Sorry to be so graphic but IT IS HORRIFIC! Unless you have lived through some male relative taking your innocence and abusing your body, you have no right to poo-pooh it as some youthful misstep.

I mean, really?

Gotta say, I know some missionaries who are certainly Christians, but in (IMO) a truer sense in that they are committed to traveling around the world to actually help people by working to make their communities and lives better.

They are there to model the example of Christ in their deeds, without the need to preach about how awesome they are for plopping thier amazing arses amidst the great unwashed.

The missionaries I know are commited to making this world better by working to provide medical care, water, education, food, etc to people around the world because that is what Jesus would have done. And He would have done it without strings or agenda.

"Friends, let us love one another. For love is of God, and everyone who loves is born of God, and knows God. Those that cannot love, do not know God, for God is love. So, beloved, let us love one another" 1 John 4:7 & 8

Sorry. I can't stand hypocrisy and I am a Christian. And a Liberal! Go figure. People like the Duggars give Christians a bad name.

It's the difference between "talking" your faith and "walking" your faith.

so true. It's the gleefulness I feel guilty about. I was raised better. But there it is. lol

I was raised better, too. My poor momma. I would be sure to get a "talking to" about reveling on someone else's misfortune. (Then, when she wasn't looking, I'd do my Happy Dance")

What bad children are we!

and,
John 15:12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

IMO, Jesus thought love was the answer to everything. I am also a liberal christian. among other
spiritual ideals that make sense.

Ghandi said it best,
Mahatma Gandhi — 'I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.'

Ok, down to business. Let's see....the child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 guy they sent Josh to...we are allowed to sleuth him,
and I think we should. Was he in law enforcement, iirc?

Things I would like to find out are:
1. IOW, did the Duggars have prior knowledge of his penchant for 🤬🤬🤬🤬, illegal or not, before he was "saved"?
2. Did they choose him to counsel Josh based on that knowledge?
3. IOW, had this man confessed his deviancy to the elders, and was "born again"?

For evangelicals, the worse you are before you get "saved", the bigger feather in the cap of the person
who rebirthed you.

My niece just got reborn and these people are actually having her talk to their youth groups about what a 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 she was, and really, she's not! It makes me cringe when I read her facebook page and she talks about her "old self". Waiting for that shoe to drop.

But that is different from sending their minor child who comitted sexual deviancy to a man they might have known was into child 🤬🤬🤬🤬, etc. Not only would it affect their minor son, but the man would be privy to the sex acts performed by a minor on their minor daughters and friend. And that doesn't occur to them? They just dropped it right into his lap.

Maybe it's just me, but there's a crime there somewhere? Whether they could be charged isn't the point, but would definitely be a plus.

Not just, did they not punish him enough, but,
did they commit a crime, did they already know this guy was hinky, but felt Jesus had forgiven him?

If, like their son, the guy hadn't been caught yet for his crimes, but they knew about them, it deserves a look-see.

BTW JMO MOO

Matthew 22:21

"Render therefore unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's"

I take this to mean they are NOT above the law, which should be obeyed. It may be too late, legally, to have Josh brought before the authorities, but he neither was nor is above the law. While I do believe people can change, home discussions & asking for forgiveness just isn't enough. But I'm baffled as to what I believe should be the correct course. Losing the show is a step in the right direction. Yes, we are all fallible. But no, we should not condemn when we live in glass houses.
(By this I mean the Duggars' strident hatred of all things not in their peculiar brand of religion/cult.)

The downsides of Josh Duggar's youthful misdeeds coming to light:

1. Josh Duggar feels bad. His enablers Michelle and Jim Bob feel bad. The girls might feel bad.
2. Some more Duggars need to get a job.

The advantages of Josh Duggar's youthful misdeeds coming to light:
1. People know to watch their daughters when he's around.
2. People know to watch his daughters and report him if they see warning signs that they've been abused. (Yeah, I know, wishful thinking, no need to report anything because Jesus forgives.)
3. They're off the television.
4. Some people might think twice before they buy the brand of religion the Duggars are selling.
5. The younger brother and his girlfriend who were far too young to marry broke up the courtship. (I don't know why but I would be very surprised if the girl's parents were fine with the girl marrying into a family infamous for incest and starting to have a lot of babies with a boy that has no apparent source of income anymore now that the show is gone.)
6. Some of the girls might be glad they can stop pretending their brother never did anything wrong.

Michelle Duggar posting:
“It was 1:00 AM in the morning as I stood folding laundry with tears streaming down my cheeks,” she writes. “Feelings of being overwhelmed flooded my mind.”

“I cried aloud, ‘LORD I NEED YOUR HELP, I can’t do it all! I feel so inadequate! Diapers, dishes, laundry, meals, cleanup, school lessons, baths, hugs, kisses, correction…’ My list seemed to go on and on.”

I can totally sympathize about the chores, I am sometimes overwhelmed with the laundry too and I've only got three kids.... but here's how to tell you have too many children: When hugging and kissing them becomes an unpleasant duty.

Here, kids, line up according to height, mommy will kiss you now, let's get this over with quickly today, no talking in the line. There's extra candy for those who don't need a hug today.
