Search For Malik Reaches Day 5
Ken Buffa, reports 11/2714 09:31 pm
http://www.fox16.com/story/d/story/search-for-malik-reaches-day-5/16059/-fYu-ZZN3UG-W-s_ytN6iA

(from yesterday)

"Police say Drummond wandered off from his fathers house on the 700th block of West Park Avenue Sunday night. Police, City Officials, and hundreds of volunteers have spent the last five days looking for the little boy.

Today, nearly 90 volunteers were given a bright vest and a route. In groups of 8 and 10 they were told to search high and low.

[snip]

Police have used hound dogs to try to find Malik but have turned up empty. The search headquarters is open to the public until dark. After, Police will continue the search overnight. Cox says she wouldn't want to spend her holiday any other way."

Has it been said if he ever wandered away before? Is he typically a wanderer or a runner?

I don't think so. His father stated it's not like him to walk out the door.

Just catching up this morning, hoping today is the day Malik is found safe!!
rsbm

The baby found in the drain in Sydney was found alive after 5 days...It's day 6, can you imagine what an awesome miracle it would be if he was found alive today?

(I am reminded of the case of Tanya Rider (her episode is on "Disappeared", I believe the episode is called "No Exit", or something similar, iirc?) Anyway, she disappeared on her way home from work. Her husband (who had been out there searching everyday) was strongly suspected by LE and 8 days after she disappeared her husband was actually in the process of being grilled by PD when they got the call that her car was discovered off the freeway, under brush...8 DAYS LATER!!! (spolier alert) AND SHE WAS ALIVE!!! (Barely---they said had she been found any later...). Her husband, among many others, had driven past that same spot over and over, tracing her route home...)

Thank you for your time and effort transcribing the broadcast highlight, especially since on the Fox ones I can't seem to get the video feed, it just loads forever.

It's been mentioned a few times in the media that Malik's father said he never had a tendency to walk out the door before. The police have further stated the front door was open, but the screen door was just shut. http://www.thv11.com/story/news/loc...d-searcy-police-are-asking-for-help/19464139/

Was LE referring to this the door being open before or after Malik was noticed missing?

Quoting myself to add the article also states his sister pointed to the screen door after being asked about Malik. I'm thinking that may indicate the main door was left open before he disappeared. Especially since there's was no mention of noticing the door open or who opened the door. Anyway, the whole point I'm trying to get at is . . . how many people would leave their main door open while they're in the bath?

It doesn't seem that odd, the Dad was home too. He seems have told LE according to MSM to have dozed in the same room the kids were in.

Jumping off your post, many screen doors I've been around are squeaky and loud, and sometimes bang shut and make a loud metal noise...I wonder how much noise their screen door made? Do we have a pic?

Just want to remind everyone that it was RAINING at about 5:30pm in Searcy Ark.

Wondering why the door would be open if it was cool and raining at that time???

Thank you for the info. May they be blessed indeed. Great pix of the search volunteers. Gosh, what a great community of people, here, there, all round. Much thanks.

Indeed.

This type of situation can be a very difficult thing for a community to go through. I know this from experience, as you guys know. It's going to break a lot of people's hearts...(and maybe even tick a lot of people off) (unless, of course a miracle occurs).

I've not seen in the weather archives where it was raining at that time. Granted, a very brief, shower could have popped up and lasted for about less than a minute, but other than that, I don't see where it was raining between 3pm and 8pm that day. Which is actually a good thing. The ground would still be wet with no further precipitation to interfere with prints.

It may not be so odd if dad were up watching the kids, but if he were already asleep or looking like he was about to pass out right when she's about to get in the bath, I don't know, I just think it's odd she'd not at least close the front door (if in fact it was open as I'm speculating)
