Hey score! Thanks for joining us, good to see you. :seeya:
I haven't seen any videos of the dad and stepmom/gf.
I have no idea what the custody arrangement is.

good to see you too, my friend!

I guess each parent is different but I can't imagine not begging for help to find my little 2 year old...

Praying that when I wake up in the morning that Malik is safe and in a warm bed

Because of the twins age, I can't yet rule out the possibility this is yet another toilet training tragedy. I'd like to know if the parents have started toilet training? Also, when was the last time someone saw Malik alive and well outside of dad and his gf? (I refuse to call a girlfriend, step mom. That's rather presumptuous imo, unless a wedding is already in the making. )

"With the help from FBI and State Police, Searcy officers are hopeful that they will find new leads and believe that Malik will be found and in perfect health."

Day 5 in search for missing 2-year-old

"SEARCY, Ark. (KTHV)- Volunteers are still showing up even on Thanksgiving Day to search for missing 2-year-old Malik Drummond.

It's day five of the search, and it seems nothing will stop Searcy police along with dozens of volunteers from continuing to investigate. Not even Thanksgiving plans will stop people from looking for Malik.

"Even though today's a holiday, people are still coming out, people are still searching, and it says a lot about the community of Searcy," said Corporal Steve Hernandez with Searcy police."

I think he did go outside to play or walk around, and he came across the wrong person.

I'm glad they are giving lie detector tests to the parents, that should clear them as to any involvement and they can concentrate elsewhere as to what may have happened here.

If this turns out to be some motorist that was just driving down the road and seized the opportunity to snatch up a kid for themselves, there is no telling where he may be by now. If this was a crime, it seems like there was a very, very small window of opportunity for someone to pull it off undetected. How could, or would, anyone plan for a small boy to go walking out of his house after dark while his mom was in the bathtub ?? Everything would have had to line up perfectly in order for someone to snatch him within a few minutes after he went outside. That being said, if there are plenty of street lights around there, he may have been fairly visible to anybody driving (or walking) by, even after dark.

If the parents are cleared by LE via the lie detectors that were mentioned, then I don't see how this couldn't be a stranger abduction by someone who just happened to be in the right place at the exact right moment. People have been known to pull over and snatch up little dogs in the same manner. When they see something they want, they grab it, especially if no one is around.

bbm

Agreed. It happens in well-lit malls, in playgrounds and on sidewalks in broad daylight, etc., in the twinkling of an eye, as they say. A little child could be grabbed-up as quickly as a purse left on a bus-stop bench. Slow down, pull over, stop, get out of the car, pick him up, get back in the car -- in what? -- not even 30 seconds, I'd guess. It would be much easier if two people were in on it, but that would not be a must. People wanting a child that badly, or someone who plans to black-market the child through a for-a-fee "adoption," etc. If the perps were smart, an "adoption" would have to be done many, many miles away, and, better still, have to be done several months later than the abduction was done. But perps are not always as smart as they are greedy. Or worse.

Just my (horrible) thoughts... I just don't see any positives at this stage other than if an adoption, I would hope very loving adopters would be involved and he would be raised in a love-filled home and family...

(I am late coming into this situation, so forgive if this is posted after we know what has happened...)

Going on 6th day, and still no appearance by dad or stepmom...I wonder if they will appear in any PCs soon?

Here is what I don't quite understand, in terms of the family dynamic. You have a very young woman, who apparently gave birth to 6 kids in a 7 yr period. But then she ends up caring for 3 kids, 2 belonging to her bf and his ex. Where are the other 4 or 5 kids? It just seems odd. I am sure there is a reasonable explanation, but I do wonder if it made things a bit stressful. I try to imagine having 6 kids, loving them very much, then being in a situation where I am w/out them, but raising my boyfriends twin 2 yr olds instead. < Maybe I am making something out of nothing, but if it were me, I might be impatient or resentful at times,if the situation was stressful and I missed my kids.

That scenario could also be motive for someone to take a child out of that situation. Especially if said "stepmom" for some reason was forbidden custody of her own children, but caring for other small children, and some people thought she wasn't doing it well, or getting frustrated with a boy who may or may not be a handful since he's been described as autistic (I realize there's no formal diagnosis).

Purely speculative, just a theory, and only my opinion.

We have new details tonight into the investigation of what happened, hearing from the person who last saw Malik.

Josh Berry has the report live from where the search began Sunday night.

Malik's father's girlfriend who considers herself his step mom tells me she has been spending most of the last few days inside the police department answering questions about what happened.

She says she was told she didn't pass questions on the polygraph test.

Police however insist there is no suspect leaving more questions than answers for those trying to help.

"I've just been really stressing about it every night," says Christopher Branch.

Christopher Branch drove from Greers Ferry to help, he's one of several dozen volunteers Wednesday, the help cut in half.

But officials say there's no reason to give up, similar successful providing the hope.

Could just be a police tactic.......who knows......

I would think in a case like this, of a missing child, LE would almost immediately run background checks on everyone who was last known to be closest to him. Any kind of affiliation with local government offices, employment, etc. I'm sure they already know all these questions we're wondering about (who lives where) but it sure is frustrating not knowing for sure which parent Malik actually lives with. Just so frustrating he seems to be gone without a trace, just like baby Delano Wilson. :(

Police leave woods near Spring Park. Whatever items they said they found didn't warrant their stay. #FindMalik

I can't believe Malik, cute little fellow, hasn't been found yet. It really shouldn't be a shock. The little fellow from New Braunsfeld (sp) hasn't been found either and he also disappeared from a house full of people.

rsbm / BBM:

I would think the truck would be searched as standard procedure in looking for Malik, incase he crawled in there (as we've seen in other cases...what was the name of the little boy who was found in the trunk?) But, my question is, they used dogs here, so its not like they just peeked in there and saw he wasn't there...would a warrant be needed for this? Did the dogs go in as standard procedure, or is the search with dogs in the vehicle bc of something else they might suspect? Are they just covering all their bases, or could there be more to this? Just some thoughts...

Sorry if this has been answered, but you do not need a warrant or probable cause (or even a reasonable suspicion) to use K9s on a vehicle. It is very standard. Officers can bring K9s to a vehicle even during a routine traffic stop with no reason for doing so.

(FWIW, IMO I don't give a whole lot of validity to polygraph results...I think polygraphs can be fooled; conversely I think there can be false positives, JMO)

This comment is very well received. Polygraphs have been found to be so unreliable in most jurisdictions as to not even be admissible in a legal setting. It is standard to use them in investigation, but courts across the US have found them inadmissible at trial for lack of reliability. So don't give them too much weight! Trained officers will know what can and can not be taken as significant from the results.

Bless those doggies...Somehow this comment strikes me as slightly comical:

also from the video/article

The dogs needed rest for Thanksgiving, but police plan to get them back to work Friday.

Great picture (being slightly facetious) however it does show what Malik and searchers are up against---darkness, if indeed Malik is somewhere out there.
