From reading the article I have linked here,

http://www.dogster.com/lifestyle/cadaver-dogs

it sounds like a good cadaver dog (in this case) can trace scents going back even years. Their sense of smell is something we cannot even imagine.

***I AM NOT SAR - THE FOLLOWING IS ONLY HOW I UNDERSTAND CERTAIN ASPECTS OF TRACKING***-
(Sorry for the caps, but I feel it's important to make that clear ahead of time based on the content)

I believe if Malik were walking in that park, it's uncertain his scent (not a cadaver scent) can be tracked. After 8 days, it's, IMO, that middle ground. . . where maybe the scent is there, but it's not a certainty. If it rained over the past 8 days, my understanding is it would KEEP the scent there longer than if it had not rained. . . . Being in a shady, less frequently traveled area would also be a plus. If he only visited this area once versus daily or often, and did so for a very short time, I don't think after another week it would be likely his scent would be trackable. (but, cadaver . . . definitely)

I think I read somewhere that they had been to the river that day, and dad came home, showered and then fell asleep. Did anyone else read this? If not, take it with a grain of salt...I'm sure it was a comment or from a non-MSM site.

It rained quite a lot earlier that day for a number of hours. I doubt they had been there earlier that day. Not as a visit anyway. . . or at least it's not something they'd tell anyone about, so I think that's something probably made up. JMO.

Just wanted y'all to know I've reached out directly to the SAR expert I'm familiar with here on WS. I am sure the Mods/Admins are very busy, and are working on this as well.

I apologize for my lack of patience in advance. As night falls here in California, with more rain than we've had in a while, I find myself looking out the window with worry. My tears fall like like raindrops. :tears:

I feel like climbing the walls. I alternate from pacing to pulling my hair out. :pullhair: My youngest looked just like Malik's twin as a little one (she wasn't as small, but the resemblance is remarkable).

She is SO attached to her big sister, and I just imagine what I'd do if anything ever happened to either of my girls. I am beside myself here, thousands of miles away, as if this precious child were my own! I know he didn't just up and walk out of that house!

We are left considering the lesser of two really horrible evils (IMO): stranger abduction or something happening to Malik in the home.

I know time isn't statistically on Malik's side, as each day - each hour - passes. I am so thankful to each and every one of my fellow WSers who have posted here, for caring for Malik and his twin. We will not give up!

:grouphug:

May our prayers be heard. :please:

:praying:

:candle:

It's been 10 days since anyone saw Malik Drummond, the girlfriend of the boy’s father told detectives he was alone in the front room of the house, and then Malik was gone.
What?? It's getting frustrating trying to interpret what msm is saying about this case. I wish LE would hold a presser and Q & A to clear up what was actually reported to the police. I think it's just poorly worded.

And:

KARK4's David Goins reached out to Malik's family members this afternoon, none of them wanted to speak on camera at this point.

This story is breaking my heart. I feel like something happened before the 5:30 time frame and someone is using the "disappearance" to cover up something more sinister.

Well...let's hope not since the facts so far are as clear as scrambled eggs.

But it sounds like LE has its hands full right now dealing with public opinion and speculation and I appreciate the effort they're making to give people what they can without jeopardizing the investigation. We've all seen that social media is on fire with rumors and accusations. LE's time is much better spent on finding Malik than putting those fires out. :(

I just wish they'd clear up the particulars of the initial police report.

In the meantime a lot of work is going into finding Malik so I'm sending a big thanks to LE, searchers, volunteers and those keeping searchers fed and watered.

10 days of non-stop searching. I've got to give LE credit. They haven't given up, and are dedicated to bringing Malik home one way or another.

Kudos to you, LE. It can't be easy.

I don't understand why they would be searching the banks of the river but not the water itself? Is it not a matter of routine to send divers in there?

IMO, they will send divers in if they find evidence to warrant that.

Fresh footprints leading to the bank, pushed down weeds/plants, cigarette butts, etc.

Sweet Malik! What a gorgeous little boy! I hope he is alive and well, but we know it's not likely after this amount of time has passed and given the direction that the case has taken. I have never seen a river that I didn't love, but I have to say that the water they have been searching there is dreary and looks forlorn... I'm not liking the looks of it at all. Please don't let this precious bundle of life be in that dull water.

I have to wonder why an episode of Nancy Grace would be needed to bring in new tips... why would that even be necessary?! If someone knows, or suspects that they know, what has happened, then he or she should be an ADULT and make that report, share info. with LE PRONTO! Who wouldn't tell all they know if it is relevant to finding Malik!

Based on what I have read so far, I can't rule out an abduction by a stranger or by someone known to the family. If that's the case then I strongly lean towards the possibility that someone who knows the family, and Malik, took him from his home while SM was distracted with baths, dinner prep., and all the dozens of other things that moms have to focus on and accomplish each day. It IS possible that someone slipped in and then back out with Malik. Sadly, I think of Baby Lisa, Baby Ayla, and the many other little cuties that have "disappeared". I pray that LE knows what has happened and that they locate Malik soon and have the info. they need to bring the one who took Malik away to justice.

I am very impressed with the Searcy PD. They are doing an outstanding job. It's nice to see LE keeping the community engaged and informed while clearly being dedicated to finding Malik.

Maybe the reason for the bath for the sister is because she came back muddy from somewhere?
And only she came back?

If the stepmom WAS bathing Malik's sister, I wonder why she wasnt bathing Malik too - their age means no modesty and surely it would of been easier? My youngest two are just over 9 months apart in age and at 2 I would of bunged both of them in the bath together - but maybe that is just me and my obsession with multi-tasking!! :o)

No matter what I think about this case, that bath just keeps creeping back into my mind. Especially when I think of "lies having a grain of truth", as one of our WS posters has pointed out. I am keeping the faith and holding onto the faint hope our little Malik is found soon and brought home to those who love him.

bbm My thought too, Writer - I only have one (grown now) but I would have had them both in there -- more fun for them and a time & water saver for me. Dunno. And I agree that the "grain of truth" hangs over that statement, IMO, in a big way. Where was, or what happened to, Malik at or before bath time? Worrisome, IMO.

Hmm - good thought. I wonder if a fish finder would help.

ETA: This is a serious comment. Probably a more accurate term would be a sonar detector.

Of course the divers had to stop before they could finish on Tuesday (cold, fatigue & lack of light), but I worried about the river currents overnight. Couldn't a pretty good current (and I know nothing about this river) wash a body and other things to a new location overnight? It worried me that a body might wash into the area that was just searched, thereby making their efforts less effective perhaps -- I'm sure the professionals deal with this problem (if it is one) quite often...

I have tried not to "go there". But I agree with your line of thought.

Sure would like to see cell phone records........

Is that the same river they were searching yesterday?

IIRC, they said they had to stop searching for the day (Tuesday). They planned to resume the next day (Wednesday). And as I said earlier, I worried about the river current re-distributing things...but I know nothing about search-diving and river currents...just frustrating and scary and worrisome. Both wanting news and afraid of news.

I worry about the current too but I'm sure the pros know what they're doing. I'm still trying to figure out if cadaver dogs can hit on a specific individual or just human decomp.

Something else I'm wondering about. The twins were visiting dad but I don't remember seeing anything about when they arrived. Was it a weekend visit or just on Sunday?

So many questions, so few answers. :(
