Found Deceased AR - Sherry Lynn Babcock, 51, from Kansas, Buffalo Outdoor Center, Ponca, 21 Nov 2019 *car found*

After watching the video, I wonder if she took a couple of brochures from a wall rack, similar to those that holds pamphlets for things to do locally. If so, maybe she was looking to check out some local attractions at the time, or in the future. MOO

Missing Kansas woman last seen in Newton County

“It’s very unusual circumstance. She’s been missing since the 16th of November…We’ve done everything from ground searches with blood hounds, starting where the car was, using scent articles taken from the car. We’ve also used telephone pings., pinging her phone.” said Sheriff Glenn Wheeler.

I have been on several trips to the Buffalo River & have been to this place as well. It is the Buffalo Outdoor Center Store (BOC). I’m almost positive what she grabbed off the wall in the video was an attraction type pamphlet...BOC is where you go to rent canoes, find a campsite, grab a bite to eat, etc. There are tons of those pamphlets there to browse or take. I’m unable to read what’s on it, but did note it is red. Sure there’s tons of red pamphlets there but LE could check out the possibilities (color, area where she grabbed it from)...anything would help. IMO

I wonder if she talked to anyone there? Did an employee assist her in anyway like answering questions about certain attractions/areas/etc?
It’s nothing to strike up a conversation with a random stranger & learn all kinds of things down here in AR! :)

Do we know why she was in Searcy?
Was that her destination to begin with & let friends know she made it or just happened to talk with them as she was passing through?
There’s not much in Searcy (as far as going there to visit). But...It’s not very far from LR.

Human skull found in Newton County campsite

As I was scanning through state news, I came across this article right after reading the updated one on SB.
Not saying it is her, just noting similarities (missing woman, vehicle found, Newton Co....)

Thank you for the link. It seems like a strange time of the year to be doing any kind of outdoor adventuring but as you say, she could have picked them up for future use.

I also wonder if she grabbed one for the map or was considering staying at one of the cabins. MOO

If going by comments on this post, I wonder if this will end up like the Crystal Dawn Kiser case in WV.
That's exactly who I was thinking of while following this case.

Community seeks answers with Potwin woman missing in Arkansas

Her daughter-in-law, Amanda Blackfox, says Babcock "has a tendency to just disappear for awhile," but the current situation is different than previous times because Babcock hasn't checked in with family and friends back home.

In October, she went away, but kept in contact. (She) let us know when she got there. But this time, nothing," Blackfox says.

The security footage from Nov. 22 gives Blackfox hope Babcock will be found safe.

I wonder if the last time her mother-in-law disappeared, if her car was found abandoned, unlocked, with her personal things inside, with no sign of her for several days?

I have to bite my tongue and behave........

I guess the quote button doesn’t work for me, but the weather was nice that weekend, and being from the area, I can totally relate with opting for the scenic route home from a visit, taking a detour to check out a nice view, and not worrying too much about locking my car if said view is close. Seeing her in the visitor center gives me hope that if foul play is involved, it’s less likely it was an acquaintance.

I’m reminded of the lady from Hot Springs, AR who went missing in June, truck found in the same forest. AR - AR - Pamela Samuels-Louro, 57, Newton County/Garland County, 3 June 2019

Our weather is a little “crazy” down here in AR. We are just now having consecutive days of cooler temps. However the highs for tomorrow in some areas of the state are in the low 60s! (Yep, crazy weather!)

I grew up in Louisiana, but when visiting relatives in MO I used to drive through that general area of Searcy. However most of my trips went to the east of Ponca up Hwy 65. I was in the general area of Ponca only once or twice as I was on a camping trip with the Boy Scouts at Camp Orr nearby. That is rugged, but beautiful country on the Buffalo River. I haven't been there in years but I can imagine there are places to hike in that area. But her car was unlocked with her purse and 'other valuables' inside? I know it is not that unusual for folks in the more rural parts of LA, AR and MO to leave their cars and even homes unlocked, but leave her purse inside?

The family says they know she was in Searcy on 21 November and the video footage puts her in Ponca on 22 November at 10:30 in the morning. I'm not finding much on her activity in that area prior to 22 Nov. Was she headed back home and stopped for a hike in the area around Ponca? Was she still in Searcy but this was a day trip? While I think something happening on a hike is possible, this just seems to likely involve foul play to me. The fact that LE found her vehicle parked eliminates the possibility that she went off the road while driving - the most likely incident for someone not familiar with the roads in that area.

Re: the daughter-in-law's comments, someone should tell her that "disappearing" is when you're gone and have NO contact with anyone. She clearly says the times Sherry "disappeared" before, she always checked in often with family and friends:rolleyes:

The husband's posts on that link....he doesn't seem very smart.

I saw that. It shouldn't be that difficult for LE to verify if he was in KS on the 22nd of Nov. But if he was directly involved that would be difficult to drive approx. 300 miles and do something while she is on the road. I know LE has to look at him just the same as they almost always look at the husband or boyfriend, but I don't see him as a likely suspect if there was foul play. (And I believe there was in this case.) I'm more likely to look at who she visited in Searcy.

Do we know for sure she was visiting someone in Searcy? Or was she just driving through Searcy when she got in touch with family on the phone?
But I agree, I’d like to know reason for being in Searcy.

Total agreement. People are more likely to leave vehicles and houses unlocked in the more rural parts of the state. However, purses, phones, personal belongings, etc aren’t left in unlocked cars (rarely left in cars at all).
The only reason I can think of for leaving her purse would be because she didn’t want to carry it along if she were hiking or something. I’m not sure where in the car they found it, but more probable if it were locked in trunk, maybe??
Just throwing out ideas....

That's what I would do - I would never leave mine in plain sight. Doesn't look good and jeez, we've seen too many of these cars abandoned lately...followed by.......body found...
IMO

Yes the first thing I thought. Do Not Go Hiking Alone !!!!!!!!!!it affords an opportunity to someone on familiar ground to have the element of surprise and a way for super quick concealment of the deceased. There are now and have been for many years twisted sick humans that enjoy this and have been stalking for years.
In the woods , desert , mountains and forests all over !! Please Lord if she is just lost (damned easy to do ) please send her an angel . Hopefully if this is the case she stayed out once she discovered she was lost . I truly hope this is what happened. MOO

Investigation continues for missing Kansas woman with video released

This article states the following:
The discovery of the vehicle came the day after Babcock reportedly visited with friends in the Searcy area.

So if this is the case, I’d want to get in touch with those friends and see if she indicated where or what she may have planned after visiting them. IMO.
