AR AR - Thwana Darrough, 16, El Dorado, 11 Jan 1989

  • #21
I had found a facebook page for Thwana and called it into the LE.

Bad news: It wasn't a good page for her. Someone else had created it pretending to be her.

Good news: They are working on an age progression for her.

Come home soon Thwana you are missing.
This is a thing I think should be looked into. Why on earth would someone create a facebook page pretending to be her, if not to thwart detectives....

Did anyone ever submit the possible suggestion above? Has it been ruled out?

Maybe I missed it in the thread but was she ruled out as "Wanda"?

I know it's a bit unlikely given the time difference but they really do look similar and were both named Wanda.

Very distinct... I believe it is her. She was found in 1996, says she was dead 5 or more years prior, Baltimore,Maryland
I had an idea that maybe Thwana was in TX somewhere or Mexico? But IF she's still alive, she could be literally anywhere. Traffickers operate all over the world. People end up on the East Coast as well. Now in 2024, a lot of people end up in Oklahoma, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, etc. My home base is MO and Arkansas.

Circumstances of Disappearance

Thwana was last seen on January 11, 1989 in her hometown of El Dorado, Arkansas. Edwina Austin, her mother, reported her missing the same day. She disappeared sometime after 7AM while she was walking to El Dorado High School from her home on South Marsh Street. Witnesses say that they saw her waiting for the school bus, but she supposedly never made it to school that day. An anonymous tip was submitted in early February 1989 indicating that there was evidence in the Smithville community; the police had searched there previously. Her case remains unsolved.
