An Arkansas man has been arrested for allegedly trying to kidnap a 2-year-old girl from her mother’s truck parked outside a Walmart, where police said he hid under a pile of clothes.

The victim told the police she discovered a stranger, later identified as Timothy Caudle, 58, in her truck after she returned from a shopping trip and placed her tot in the backseat around 7 p.m. Monday.

The mother grabbed the youngster from the truck, but Caudle allegedly refused to let go of the girl right away, leading to a physical struggle. In the end, the woman got the upper hand and was able to pull the tot from the suspect’s clutches to safety.

Caudle is charged with breaking and entering, false imprisonment in the first degree, endangering the welfare of a minor in the first degree, assault in the third degree, public intoxication, and obstructing government operations, court documents confirm.

Court records state Caudle was arraigned Tuesday via video conference where the judge set his bond at $5,000.

The mother's instinct, coupled probably with the strength she did not know she had, fought successfully for her child.
What a nightmare, but with a good ending. Whew!
So glad the kidnapper was caught.

so weird to me. I don't think kidnapping a toddler was the goal. There are easier ways to snatch a toddler from a mom than to hid yourself under some blankets in her floorboard and then try to snatch the child after they've been placed in the car.

I am not sure what he intended when he got in the car and hid but am sure it was something not good. I wonder if he hoped to hitch a ride home with the mother and toddler and then once there harm or attack or rob mom.

He is not listed in the Arkansas prison system. I couldn't find anything about a trial, plea deal, or sentencing.

He apparently plead guilty to the breaking or entering, the prosecution declined to prosecute him on the kidnapping or obstruction of governmental operations. He was sentenced to 18 months and served 549 days

in looking at his criminal record, he has a long and colorful rap sheet

I noticed the lengthy criminal record and also saw where he was intoxicated at the time of this incident. Thank for researching this, tlcya!
