MARS HILL, Maine (WGME) -- The Aroostook County Sheriff's Office says they're looking for a woman in Mars Hill who has been missing since last Sunday.

Tomis Hoyt reportedly was last seen on Robinson Road in Mars Hill.

Authorities say she is believed to be barefoot. Her family reportedly hasn't heard from her since July 13.

The Aroostook County's Sheriff's Office is asking the public to call them if they have any information.

I doubt there are two women named Tomis Hoyt in her area so this is likely the missing woman. Arrested 2 months ago on drug charges.

Tomis Victoria Hoyt, 35, Presque Isle: aggravated unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs (three counts) and unlawful possession of scheduled drugs (two counts). (Note, she is not the woman referred to in the article headline, that's someone else, her arrest is about 2/3 down the page.)

The Re:Search Maine for court records is showing an error code when I log in, (I've used it before, it's free if you register). So I don't have particulars on the case yet..

Respectfully, when you post arrest records like this (and in many other cases I’ve noticed). It gives the impression that the victim may not be missing, but rather could be avoiding LE because of a recent arrest. There is definitely a time and place for this information, but maybe just not in the opening posts right away, MOO.

A victim is still a victim, regardless of their past choices or history.

This is her linkedin

And her TikTok

Her sister is posting on fb the photo of the day Tomis went missing, she does not look like the photo posted, she does not look well. She is indeed barefoot.
Not sure I can post here the pic as I cannot link but I wish msn does because noone will recognise her if they look for a well groomed lady.
I pray she is found safe

Point taken, and appreciated Knox, For me, it’s not about “victim blaming” it’s looking at past behaviors that can identify factors that put people at risk for victimization. It’s more than just past mistakes but the victim’s relationships and interactions with their possible victimizers, the genesis of the crime that may have occurred as a result and their role or contribution (even unintentionally) in what may have happened. Individual-level factors include age, education level, income, mental health indicators, and past associations with known offenders in or outside the judicial system. It’s not always the kindest picture to paint of someone, but if examining those things can give us an idea of what happened to them, I for one, if I were missing, would want someone looking at me with that level of frank detail.

There are MANY cases here where I do not post found arrest records, because they are not recent and don't show a pattern of behavior or are singular types of crimes (shoplifting, etc.)

In this case, I didn't imply she was avoiding anything because I stated the court records of the specifics weren't available, for all we know the case was dismissed. Being a fugitive or FTA is a factor in many cases, but I never felt that was the issue here and didn't intend to imply as such.

But recent controlled substance use paired with a report she went missing "without shoes" may indicate substance issues that could place her in immediate danger and could have a bearing on where she would go or the people she might be seeking shelter with.

Since we're sharing opinions I completely disagree. More information is better. People can take is as they wish. I always appreciate the research and sharing of information @GraceG. IMO

“We are trying to find out where she currently is at but even if someone has had contact with her after some time on the 13th, then we would like to know that because it also helps us narrow things down as far as narrowing down locations and things of that nature. So it does help even if you’re someone who has spoken to her or seen her after the 13th” says Sheriff Peter Johnson, of the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office.

Homeland Security and Maine Warden Service are using their resources of drones and K-9s in the search for Hoyt.

Yes. The sister has some interesting comments on FB about the state she was in when that photo first posted. She was deeply concerned.
