There has been confusion in the print media over several issues in this case. The day her body was found, it was reported on the news that Police would not comment re:signs of foul play or trauma, and I don't believe the police have wavered on this. It certainly opens up the causes from just the suggested strangulation. Now an arrest has been made, I wonder if more will be revealed about C.O.D?

Or, COD could still have been strangulation, and the blood was from another aspect of the crime - remember a rumour that was revealed and then sort of quieted down quite a while back? ... attempts to remove the possibility of identifying skin/DNA under fingernails? (which it turns out wouldnt have even been there after submersion in water for even a couple of days)

Never allow a loss to define your life

No, but I am sorry to say, that this is going to have a major impact on their lives. It is one thing to say don't let a loss define your life, but in a situation like this, as I was saying it is going to be a rough road and its not something that you just get over. It will shape their lives in some way or form. MOO

Morning Kimster...good to see an arrest has been made though bittersweet it is for the girls & Allisons's parents.

Apologies about the bigg mess back there with fireworks & stuff all over the place.... we were a little big bit excited :)

It's allowed when there is an arrest. :kimsterwink:

The only problem I see that happened were negative comments about other posters' opinions. :sigh: But enough of that, that's behind us now.

I'm looking for the perp walk pic. It's kind of a tradition here on Websleuths when an arrest was made.

I guess the price of premiums are relative to when you think the big payday may be coming....

agreed i would have thought there would be a an exclusion regarding payout on foul play/murder etc

Not necessarilly...Usually their is a period of 13 mths for suicide but I think this life insurance was one tied to the mortgages/debts he owed. Therefore, a bank will insist a borrower insure against life/death/critical illness and unvolunatry unemployment and most cases it is no more than a few dollars per week - If memory serves me right for about 900k in debts it would be around 100 bucks a month - if that? However, I think that GBC debt was business related as I read they were living in a rented home....? but maybe that was a tax dodge....negative gear so he can pay less tax to the aussie govt. He wouldnt have cared the type of squaller he had his wife and kids living at.....by the looks of things.

He was regularly quoted in media reports about the real estate market.

``In business, it's simple: never lie,'' he said in 2008. ``For starters, it's the wrong thing to do but secondly you will always get caught out and usually when you least expect it.

``There are just too many people, too many personalities, too many trails . . . and too much to lose.''

Where did the claim that Allison had a $900,000 Insurance Policy come from? To pay the premiums on such a policy would be an enormous amount for people who seemed to have no visible means of support and very high living + business costs. And, life insurance policies have clauses which preclude payment if the insured meets foul play.

I would like to see some substantiation of this claim before it took it with more than a very tiny grain of salt.

RIP Allison

Doing it through your superannuation will save you a lot and it comes out of your account balance. Super insurance is a lot cheaper than getting it through eg. AMP.

Maybe it is because GBCs parent are traumatised by his arrest and are not in any fit state to care for the children. IMO

Good call...to be honest I haven't given much thought as to how his family are coping.

I did post something many threads back now. I think strangulation may not have been easily detected given the amount of decomposition. ( I posted an article related to this at some point)

I have asked my contact re bail and they think he will be released on bail.

I hope not.

Well he will be the most hated man in Brisbane if that happens, IMO.

I read he would have to first go to Supreme Court to get bail as he's charged on murder. Is that correct?

I am of the opinion that it is more likely stabbing. However bear in mind that the neighbours are not close and not on all sides. Also, how much exactly of a sonic boom are you talking? what is the basis of your thoughts on that? just asking for clarification. (I would not expect any 'sonic boom' to be that loud to alert neighbours and they may not have known what it was.. perhaps scraps or whatever the dogs name is, heard it, lol)

I agree that stabbing or strangulation is much likelier than murder by firearm.

I apologise if my post wasn't very clear - "sonic boom" sounds like the kind of thing you would expect to hear upon a comet imploding into the surface of the earth :) All I meant was that many firearms are so powerful that when they are discharged and the bullet exits the barrel, it creates a sonic boom as it travels. Wikipedia's definition of a sonic boom: "A sonic boom is the sound associated with the shock waves created by an object traveling through the air faster than the speed of sound. Sonic booms generate enormous amounts of sound energy, sounding much like an explosion. The crack of a supersonic bullet passing overhead is an example of a sonic boom in miniature."

It is the pressure behind the bullet (caused by hot gas from ignited gunpowder) that creates the "gunshot" sound. When a silencer is attached to a firearm, it allows the hot gas to expand into a much larger space, so the residual noise is lessened. That said, it would still more than likely create enough noise to be detected. This is all speculation on my behalf and I am happy to be proven wrong (well, not "happy", but you know what I mean) - I simply think it is unlikely.

The basis of my opinion on this comes from nothing but a personal devotion to and interest in science and forensics. I am certainly not an expert.
