The one flaw in this is that most posters on this forum get the bulk of their information from journalists. (That, of course, is excluding QPS information, which is actually corporate communications - a branch of PR).

Sorry to disappoint WI but I think that is a terrible generalisation. I do read the paper but do not watch tv, but get a lot of my information from my own research. For instance, today after he name of the judge was announced I read a number of his judgements to get a feel.

In relation to some of the issues you raised in terms of subjudice and online fora I researched various law reform commission articles and have to say they provided a good basis for my view that I really need not fear voicing my own opinions without feeling bamboozled.

Apologies - I have not made myself clear. I am talking specifically about NEWS, not archived government information, academic research, public documents or historical information.

I'm not sure that this exercise will fall under this category. I get the impression that this is a private email to friends and associates that has been made public by the media, therefore they are not making an appeal to the general public.

Ato would be interested in $30,000 going in and out of your private account.

:bump:
Whilst the accused's family's congregation pray together for help with legal fees I ask you to join me in a metaphorical paganish cyber prayer. I pray for the spirit of Allison that she wasnt forcefully drowned. She was so frightened of water. MOO care of a childhood friend of Allison.

Good on you Rational, well done.

What are your thoughts on the Judge?

I think this email is just another horrible situation that GBC has put the people who care about in. I don't think Channel 10 should have aired the story, and who ever has betrayed the BC by releasing it to the media is pretty low.

I dont think they should have released it because it might actually raise some money for him.

Sometimes I think about Allison and her children over Easter visiting her parents to celebrate together.

It is almost inconceivable that these few months later her life as she lived it has been so tragically destroyed.

May she rest in peace.

I think it will definitely raise SOME money and we may me surprised at how much/or not. IMO

Why is the Public being asked to pay for his bail funds and for the girls educational funds? How is it that this family can use the media to ask for public funds for themselves?

I agree it is kind of 'odd' thing to do. But just clarifying, I don't actually think the public was being asked to donate. Not the general public. The email was sent to family and friends. It was anonomously forwarded to channel 10 by the sounds of what the reporter said.So perhaps at least one of the family or friends on the receiving end of the email weren't impressed either. Hence it being forwarded to the TV station.

Re the selling of his cars instead to get money..I think at least one of them would not be available for sale. Think the police may be hanging on to it (captiva).

Yes I agree...although it may also have the opposite effect with many more turning against them.

I will be extremely aggrieved if the Scout Assoc and Girl Guides donate to this Murderers Defence Fund.

At least worth $2,000 than there is always the rights to the 'pash', and the statement by GBC with OW to the media, this could be a real winner for silks to use fir future PR prepping other suspects on 'how not too!!'

Some photos of the cars for insurance companies to use 'I was okay little but hurt, it wasn't my car, I was suspected of murder, I was wanting to see my mistress, my phone was bugged.....but I was still covered for negligent driving!!! Switch to.....$

Only from what I have read today and not knowing him in any other way and just IMO I would say 'balanced and methodical in his analysis and reasoning for judgement'.

IMOO

For this to be true, he would have to have a lot of support locally and abroad.
The fact that they are asking for money (if true), coupled with the deafening silence in support for him, the deafening silence in recognition of him as an outstanding citizen, speaks volumes in what support he may have.

This whole sordid episode has been a shambles, and if he did indeed have any of the support you've mentioned, it would have been done much cleaner and done with out chance of charges being brought up against him.

I believe in this instance that you are giving this man, and his family way too much credit. Remember, we're talking about the pashing Grannies.

No offence intended whatsoever

I was going to bed... :please:
I was being completely hypothetical . you have not understood what I was saying. :what:
I was saying , that the emails contents, ( not my opinion :maddening:) would help the prosecutor to argue that because of his many supporters , he is a definite flight risk.

I'm not saying he has actually been given money or any support at all. what I think about his situation has nothing to do with my post. It was focused on email and prosecutions argument to keep him locked up. :banghead:

I'm tired and should go to bed x

What if, and I repeat, what if OW believes he is really innocent? What if he has fed her/them all some story and keeps insisting he did nothing to hurt Allison?

With regards to the ATO, perhaps they have set up some sort of legal entity to receive this funds, one that we are not aware of? Perhaps even with the help of GBC's legal team?

With regard to emails being published without consent ... it happens every day to all of us. Our emails get forwarded to some other people, and it continues so on, whether in business or personal, and we don't consent to it, do we?

All my opinion only.

No worries apologies accepted. We all may sound like a bunch of sewing circle nannies sometimes but do not underestimate the combined knowledge of this group, News is usually only taken as a starting point, never a truth, and certainly never ever as a complete picture.
