CANADA ARREST! Canada - Elnaz Hajtamiri, 37, Abducted following home invasion, Wasaga Beach, Ontario, 12 Jan 2022

Exactly! Perhaps someone who didn’t physically participate in the attack wanted proof that it happened. Or perhaps the orchestrator got some sick thrill from watching it happen over and over and over again on his little phone.
My guess is that the orchestrator not only got a thrill from watching it, but proof it was done, if in fact he paid for the attack.
complete speculation, imo.

I agree with you there. She was in a horrendous situation. No wonder she tried to escape to Wasaga Beach.

I speculate perhaps Toronto or Montreal gangsters were hired who didn't want to risk going to jail for life like many in that community. Possibly they even had legal advice that if caught with a frying pan, it wouldn't be charged as an 'assault with a deadly weapon'.

I'm afraid now, that she's not being held somewhere, and not hiding out, after all. Hard to hope for that.

ya I am very concerned because there's been no proof of life at all.

Part of me hopes she is still alive somewhere but then part if me thinks is that worse? Is she being tortured somewhere? For all this time? Either way it feels there will be no good outcome of this. :(

Police charge Montreal man in connection with investigation of woman abducted from Wasaga Beach home (parrysound.com)
''Pecarinha said Lilo was released following a bail hearing. He is scheduled to make a court appearance in Collingwood later this month''

''As the OPP does not identify victims, Pecarinha could not confirm that Lilo's charges are connected to Hajtamiri, who also goes by the last name Tamiri, or her abduction.''

''Police launched a dedicated tip line at 1-833-728-3415, or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.''

Knowing that her ex boyfriend was likely involved makes me feel that she won’t be coming home alive. We see this story every single day over and over again. Domestic partner violence is an epidemic. I hope she comes home soon!

Released on bail. Nice. With a kidnapping and possibly murder investigation hanging over his head, I doubt this guy will stick around for the criminal harrassment hearing. MOO

Hopefully, and I suspect, he and any of his devices and contacts will be closely monitored while LE tries to get more leads on where Elnaz is.

Interested into why this is just being released publicly now? I'm thinking they had CCTV footage all along and were trying to identify the pan-attack suspects without public involvement, but it didn't pan out (no pun intended).

This a very unusual case. Below is the a description of the criminal harassment violation that the ex-boyfriend has been charged with (BBM)

Criminal Code

  • 264 (1) No person shall, without lawful authority and knowing that another person is harassed or recklessly as to whether the other person is harassed, engage in conduct referred to in subsection (2) that causes that other person reasonably, in all the circumstances, to fear for their safety or the safety of anyone known to them.

  • Marginal note:Prohibited conduct

    (2) The conduct mentioned in subsection (1) consists of

    • (a) repeatedly following from place to place the other person or anyone known to them;
    • (b) repeatedly communicating with, either directly or indirectly, the other person or anyone known to them;
    • (c) besetting or watching the dwelling-house, or place where the other person, or anyone known to them, resides, works, carries on business or happens to be; or
    • (d) engaging in threatening conduct directed at the other person or any member of their family.
So it appears they have arrested him based on the tracking devices or other evidence such as threatening phone calls that we don't know about. He has not been charged with assault as I would expect he would be if they could connect him to the two men in the parking garage (calling all WS attorneys and LE).

To me this does not seem like your typical vindictive/jealous/possessive ex-boyfriend. If the frying pan assault and the abduction are related (and LE seems to be saying they are), then the ex-boyfriend either has 5 loyal friends or he has hired 5 assailants. This seems expensive and would eposes him to a greater risk that one of them will talk.

Am I missing something or could there be more to this. Is the ex-boyfriend working for the Iranians? MOO

Snipped for focus.

I don't know why he has these resources, or why so incredibly vindictive. But also, I can't see why Elnaz would be of such intense interest to Iran.

In any event, I hope she shared the whole story with her family and, after the assault, with police as well.

JMO, but I think the CCTV footage would have been kept back while police monitored Lilo and hoped to find Elnaz. I think it would jeopardize her safety to put out 'wanted by police' bulletins while she might be held somewhere.

I'm looking forward to seeing some detailed follow-up by the YT creator whose video I've seen on ths case. I believe there are similarities in the way this case and Justin Evan's case, (young teen brutally murdered 2 years ago), have been handled by police. Valuable time was wasted and connections that should have been made were overlooked. MOO

There are millions of refugees in Canada, and many of them from the Middle East. Who wouldn't want to leave Iran? Especially a woman

I'm sure many people are happy in Iran, including many women. We have to be careful not to apply our Western view to those living there. Iran supports education, including for women. It's not a Saudi Arabia. It's a sophisticated society.

Of course I'm not blind to the control by the Iranian Republican Guard...and the risk of speaking out against the regime is huge! I do understand that some people would want to move elsewhere.

I only came across this case yesterday and just had a chance to catch up on it now. This is a very concerning case. Is it domestic violence? Is it related to Iranian political vengeance? So difficult to know. It does seem as though her ex-boyfriend wasn't short of funding. Is he a criminal? Is he an Iranian 'agent'?
