OH - Spencer and Monique Tepe found shot to death at home 2 children unharmed, Columbus, 30 December 2025 *ex-husband arrested*

Hopefully we see more charges added because killing both parents knowing 2 children are in the house is child endangerment or something surely. He didn't know if anyone would come looking for them that same day, what if it took a day before people came looking? Now a 1 and 4 year old are home alone for how long? They could have gotten hurt during that time. IMO

I say he definitely will be facing more criminal charges when he is returned to Ohio.

For starters the murder charge will likely be upgraded to aggravated murder.

He will also be charged with using a gun in commission of a felony, and either breaking and entering or burglary.

He could also be charged with stalking, and possibility of charging him with endangering children as you suggested cannot be ruled out.

I'm wondering if he recently suffered some sort of setback, financially or professionally? And, for some unhinged reason, circled his thoughts/blame on a past failures like his marriage? IDK.

IMO, when it comes to 'injustice collectors,' there's really no rational reason for their actions since most of the hostility is built around perceived wrongs-- versus what most would deem real and/or actual wrongs. McKee may have been triggered by seeing a Hallmark holiday special, and angry that his ex-wife appeared to be living a Hallmark life during that fatal week.

For example, I just watched a YT series this week for the ten year anniversary of the 2015 DC Mansion Murders, by Mike King (Profiling Evil). In this case, Daron Wint, the convicted killer, had been terminated from the family's construction firm 10 years earlier.

While some suggested that Wint had been flagged for deportation in 2015, and retaliated against Savvas Savopoulos, Wint, a certified, union welder, certainly could have found employment elsewhere between 2005-2015, or the 10 years since he was terminated from American Iron Works! Totally irrational motive. JMO

Maybe a court case in Nevada might be some of the reason as it is going to trial ... it is a malpractice lawsuit.

''McKee is being held in the Winnebago County Jail in Illinois, according to authorities. His next court date is scheduled for Monday afternoon, according to online records. It was not immediately clear whether he has retained a lawyer.

McKee is a medical doctor, licensed in California and Illinois, specializing in vascular surgery, according to online license records.

He graduated from the Ohio State University College of Medicine in 2014, the records show. He was also previously licensed in Nevada, but that license expired in June.

He was listed as a vascular surgeon at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, Illinois, a city about 90 miles northwest of Chicago. OSF Healthcare said it is “cooperating with authorities.”

His medical license records show no disciplinary history or malpractice. His criminal record shows only traffic-related tickets''

What bugs the hell out of me is how he deactivated it, or how he knew it wasn't activated in the first place. Even if he got creative with his entry, he shouldn't have known that certain areas weren't alarmed.
The details of what happened that night may end up being revealed as messier and more drawn out than a quick, undetected break-in leading to murder. (Unverified speculation at this stage.)

IMO. therefore, there is no sign of any professional breakdown…yet. I don’t see him as ‘down and out.’ So, I’m curious about another trigger.
Thank you for the details demonstrating that there do not appear to be strong signs of professional breakdown due to lack of business leadership skills or problematic personality leading to an 'unemployable' status etc.

Looking for another trigger.... Its hard because he does not seem to be on a "hair trigger". Plenty of romance options, strong earnings potential, critical thinker, no strong signs of a collapsing professional world / loss of status and self esteem, no kids from marriage, short marriage years ago etc.

Pure and simple obsession seems to be a distinct possibility.

Yet, a perpetrator centered on obsession with his characteristics (wealthy businessman, critical thinker, lists of options, business doing well etc.) who then put a fulfilled "contract" on his ex wife had distinct differences:

Longer marriage, children, initiated "death" by endless litigation with the divorce, refusals to pay child support. His case also featured a build up period where he harassed and threatened the victim for years before he gave a "hit" order to a hired crew.

Will authorities manage to get the accused to give his reasons for allegedly committing the murders, somehow i don't think he will give honest ones at this point.
Wondering if he did not want children, or was unable to have any?
Did he think the couple gossiped about him in the medical community? speculation, imo.

He didn't try to camouflage himself the night of the murder nor really hide. Makes me wonder if he wanted to get caught. At first I wondered if he had others on his list, can't imagine what his other exes are thinking now.

Thank you. Never really understood what “board certified “ meant. Just knew you always wanted a provider that was “board certified.”
Can any medical professional jump in here? My. understanding is that you cannot practice as a vascular surgeon without passing the boards.

The ex deactivated his fb account since the time they were together. Maybe he used another one to stalk them on SM.

Let's wait and see if the couple were aware of the danger and if he tried to contact her recently.
Their divorce was final in June of 2017, and Monique remarried Spencer Jan 2021, which is 4 years from her divorcing MM. MOO, that 4 years went by fast, and he was still stuck, hadn't moved forward yet. He had been in med school, time stood still. Then the BIL uploaded their wedding video to youtube, you can see he uploaded it 4 years ago. IMOO, I bet MM watched that video MANY times over the last 4 years, making him angrier, and angrier. Especially if his life was going the opposite way Monique's appeared to be. The wedding video had the house, and the address there. And they had mutual friends who probably NEVER thought, and are shocked now, that MM would EVER do anything like this. MOO is that MM got stuck in year 2016-17.

Is it known what states he had lived in after he graduated from medical school?

He would have been required to provide a set of fingerprints when he applied for his medical license in California, Illinois, and Nevada.

And if he lived in California and obtained a California drivers license, he also would have to give a fingerprint for the California drivers license.

board certified and licensed are not the same; a medical license is the basic, mandatory government approval to practice medicine (like a driver's permit), while board certification is a voluntary, extra credential showing advanced expertise and commitment to lifelong learning in a specific specialty, requiring more rigorous exams and ongoing education. You need a license to legally practice, but board certification signifies higher, specialty-specific knowledge beyond the minimum requirements.

If you click the X in the top right of the blue box, the paywall looking thing disappears (at least did for me)…

wow..thanks... the workaround worked for me..
have missed many of these Dispatch articles!!

If it’s true that he hasn’t passed his Boards yet as the first 3 yr period approaches, that could be a real stresser.
He is listed at clinics as recently as 2025 so not sure about all this "hasn't passed boards".

Found his name on a clinic in Rockford (during googling) and based on what info is out there this guy did not care about getting caught...was just waiting for LE. I think a lot will come out about interactions in the last months between McKee and Monique. No one "let" this guy in middle of night. I hope after extradition that some facts about what happened will come out. For now we really don't know.
