Nurse, someone else posted it may be a way to allow the family some time to process this horrible news. Mickey has been in the hearts of so many as evident in the many new members that have joined here as well. Honestly,I have been moved by all the new members. Just so lost for words, what a beautiful aura and spirit.

No, it is because of an 8am court date, see above a few posts...

Ok, so I was just told by a friend that, in LA, you cannot be charged with first degree murder without forensic Evidence or confession of the crime.

Can anyone check and find out if this statement is accurate? Because if it is, I think we're looking at a whole lot more than circumstantial evidence!

Just found out. Bawling my heart out. Even though a stranger, Mickey just touched me and everyone, so deeply. I'm so sorry Mickey.

I am not sure legally, but usually LE is very hesitant to charge murder without a body, first of all. But if she has not been found yet, then they certainly have to have proof of death and/or a confession.

how are all you locals coping? I know alot of you looked out for the DWT did anyone cross paths with the perp? know him?

so how did this arrest happen?

this is just MY :twocents:

1)truck video released and someone turned him in

a) he most likely has been questioned several times and we did not even know it
b)more likely more video that we have not seen showing more

2)FORENSICS
a)most likely on truck and bike.. he is a tier three so his dna is in CODIS
b)time frame of arrest fits with forensics being back
c)forensics on truck? bike? etc

3)Interviews/possible polys?
a)surly they did not arrest this guy on a whiff and whim.. they most likely have interviewed him before the arrest.. so poly? Interview video? I am not seeing a confession but I do see possible phone records that tie him to the area along with video.
b)past history CANNOT BE OVERLOOKED

as for what they release tomorrow.. I bet it will be bare bones.. I personally do not expect much at all. LE has done an EXEMPLARY job here and they are playing this close to the vest. It is all about justice for Mickey.

Sherry Arnold, too, was kidnapped and killed by strangers.

Meredith Hope Emerson, Kristi Cornwell, Cheryl Dunlap, John & Irene Bryant, Megan Maxwell, Morgan Harrington, etc., etc.. "The list is very long liltexans"..

The FBI NCIC Statistics are skewed imo, giving the American public a false sense of security.. Stranger sexual predator abductions are at epidemic level, imo..

most likely forensics... we are not privy to search warrants served in this case but I am sure that there have been many that have been :twocents: my opinion of course.

I'm hearing that too and I can't find anything by googling.

I know I keep saying it, but I really hope she was found on his property, both for reasons of assisting in a trial or prompting a confession, and to not have a trial without her body having been found. While I am glad that LE took the decision to charge in Sierra's case whether or not she is found, I hope it is not the case here. I don't think people can really accept a death if the victim is not found, and it also makes it much harder on the prosecution.

Hoping they have already found Mickey...

I noticed this also. This, more than the arrest, makes me very sad.

It looks like she changed her availability from public to private. Only her friends are able to see her posts.

Isn't it always first-degree murder if a person dies during the commission of another first-degree felony, such as aggravated kidnapping?

If today is the first time LE went out to the house to search, they must not have been able to get a warrant before now, IMO, or you would think they would have gone as soon as possible in case she was alive. I wonder if we would have heard if LE had been out there prior to today.

I took the utter silence from LE to mean that they have known for a long time that she was not alive, therefore, it was not urgent to rush to take someone into custody and potentially bungle the case and allow him to walk free in the end. I think they have worked slowly and methodically to build their case. I know it's important for Mickey's family to bring her home, but if her killer walks free because of a compromised investigation, there would be no justice for Mickey.

I believe everything happens for a reason and more often than not they happen for reasons we're not aware of. I only see good things coming out of this for the city of Lafayette. I of course feel bad for her family & friends and everything they're going through right now but the memory of Mickey will forever live on in their hearts & minds, as well as in everyone in the whole wide world that has felt bonded to Mickey in someway!

I don't feel it's necessary to wish death on Brandon. None of us know his troubles or why he did what he did...but I do believe there is a greater plan for us all and as much as we'd like to think we're in control of our path & destiny in life, we aren't, life is full of surprises, and that's just something we all have to accept.

Anyway... I just wanted to send out my condolences to her family, friends, and everyone whose participated in this case. Thank you.

What would happen if he did try to say it was an accident, but he really intentionally harmed her. Would evidence be able to tell LE otherwise? What kind of evidence would reveal that and based on the evidence we know LE has retrieved, do you think it's enough to reveal the truth?

The judge signed "two warrants for BSL’s arrest, one for each first-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping. The two warrants for BSL’s arrest allege he committed both first-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping on May 19, the same day Shunick disappeared."

So sad about this. This guy is a Tier 3 sex offender and was running loose. Unbelievable.

When I heard the news earlier, I was sickened. I'm so sorry for Mickey, her family, and their friends. I'm sick about it.

I am not sure how they could know that for sure; apparently they never roped off a crime scene in the road, so there must not have been evidence of a fatal incident there. Even if they have a video of her being put into the truck, how would they know she was not alive?

I think LE must have some evidence of murder...maybe something was found at his home...accident will not fly, JMO.
