As we've been sleuthing for weeks, learning about his most-complex one-man-band cult of personality and had in-depth discussions about the 'Look At Me' moment [or culture] which Magnotta and those using this case to attempt to have their own moment in the spotlight thrive on.

When I read the following article, I immediately thought of our discussions of this topic:

From the Billings Gazette
Authorities say hitchhiker shot himself
http://billingsgazette.com/news/state-and-regional/montana/montana-authorities-say-hitchhiker-shot-himself/article_726e35cc-63b1-5dc5-ad4c-3843a50bbbbd.html

Oh the irony....the guy was writing a book called Acts of Kindness yet allows someone else to be arrested for shooting him.

IMO Lm seems to be a "cut & paste" killer. He fixated himself on fictional and real killers taking bits and pieces of their storylines & crime to quilt himself a truly groteque patch worked persona. This is evident from his use of Versace, the ice pick and his liking the movie Basic Instinct, his fascination with Homolka and his likely use of drugging the victim, use of American psycho music, under one of his sock puppets he has a favorited clip that involves a girl tricking a guy once he's been tied up in bed, changing his last name to Magnotta, I think even his choice of Rocco could be a nod to his idol, Madonna ...it goes on and on.

Sounds like something a 'lil fella currently sitting in Germany, yearning for someone other than his reflection to call him heiss, might do...

I noted your reference to Versace in the wee hours of the night (Chicago time) and was too tuckered out to ask about it then... Aside from some trinkets and, likely, a couple knock-off items (my guess his fake Versace items likely included: a wallet, a very loud shirt or two, pair of underwear and a really badly fake european men's carryall);
I'd be thrilled to gain a better understanding of your thoughts related to Magnotta's connection or "use of" Versace?

Barbie said she often had concerns about Magnotta’s creepy personality but whenever she began to doubt their relationship he would do something to win her over.

She recalled when he whisked her off to harbour boat seafood restaurant Captain John’s.

She said: “He was nice sometimes. He called me one night and said he wanted to take me out to dinner. I said no because I wasn’t sure about him but then he turned up in a limo. I had never really travelled in a limo before. I thought that was pretty romantic.”

Despite Magnotta being a rent boy and 🤬🤬🤬🤬 actor, Barbie said they rarely had sex during their four-month relationship.

She went on: “He had problems with his sex drive".

@HastingsChi..I didn't reference Versace until the post prior to this one. It must have been another user. I believe LM also had Versace bedding at some point or knock offs of it. My thinking on the Versace stuff isn't that complicated. Versace was killed by a young male prostitute (Andrew Cunanan) and used the killing of Versace to in part bring himself notoriety. Interestingly Cunanan was aging out in terms of using his body to provide for himself. Versace shirts can be quite gaudy and attention grabbing, so this would appeal to LM, and by buying Versace goods its almost a way of paying homage to Cunanan whom he likely could very much identify with.

Thanks for sharing that Dotr.

When I read that article this morning I was left questioning the credibility of Barbie (heck she dated Ken for so many years and left him for that Australian surfer Blaine and then at some point after Blaine had a fling with Magnotta...)...

The two dated for four months in six years ago and we don't know both sides of the relationship to break-up story... I doubt that someone in her position of being interviewed about someone accused of such horrors would speak glowingly of that individual.

I think that's the person from the photos attached to the rip-off report and also possibly the blond by the limo with her face blacked out, obviously in better days. And just so I can keep the stories straight, is this not "julie's" story, too. I mean barbie = julie?

eta: I have no idea why there's an exclamation point in my post "title" and I can't remove it. So just wanted to clarify that I'm not terribly excited by Barbie's interview. lol

Right in line with his love of Versace, she looks like Donatella Versace!

Recent, fwiw..
"In 1997 the world gasped as Gianni Versace was shot to death on the doorstep of his Miami Beach mansion by a serial killer whose face had been gracing America’s Most Wanted for several weeks"

"Less than a week ago, Loftin listed the storied estate for sale. The price: an astounding $125 million. It is now one of the two most expensive homes for sale in the U.S"

Thanks for sharing your expanded thoughts Mozzmo; it is well thought out and makes sense. Not to lead us down Tangent Highway heading towards Cunanan-ville, but the most striking difference between Magnotta and Cunanan is: Cunanan was a talented master manipulator and actually maintained real-world friendships/relationships throughout his life until the end. However, I would share that the two shared a passion for many similar sexual acts that some might consider to be twisted or more extreme.

I think it would be truly sick if LM wears Versace at his trial. He loves to dance with innuendo.

I wonder what LM thought of homoerotic artwork?Sorry, I cannot help but think of David Buller, the U of T art teacher and his brutal unsolved murder....

http://www.thestar.com/news/article/922969--art-teacher-s-unsolved-murder-still-haunts-family
"In the year following Buller’s death, police interviewed 230 people associated with his personal and professional life and RCMP computer experts examined his computers for clues. The individuals suggested as Buller’s possible killer included a disgruntled student, a jilted lover and a homeless man who had wandered up Spadina Ave. from the Scott Mission. But no evidence was found to back up any of those theories — or the one that suggested Buller, who was gay, led a risky lifestyle that may have instigated the attack.

Ken Taylor, a homicide detective involved in the case, told the Star in 2002 that Buller’s murder was one of the most difficult he had ever worked, one that caused him sleepless nights and to obsessively review clues.

“I hope the killer wakes up every morning thinking this is the day he’s going to be arrested,” Taylor said at the time"

1. About Captain John's and the limo - where did he get the money for that?

2. About the 'problems with sex drive' -

3. And also "Captain JOHN'S" - a psychological reason/something Freudian?

He won't wear Versace to his trial. Armani is more.....well, court-looking.

:jail:

Soon, he'll be wearing bright orange......
