It appears Robyn's family is finally speaking out.

Family of Robyn Gardner breaks silence

Thank you for staying on top of this, Sapphire! Thank God Robyn's family is now coming forward and speaking to the media. And I know it has to be so hard for them, as with any family, but now they are finally showing their true courage. jmo

This is one quote from the article that somehow does not surprise me:
"Phone calls and an email seeking information about the case to police and prosecutors in Aruba on Friday and Saturday were not immediately returned. People who answered the phones at various government offices said they were not authorized to speak about the case."

Well, after Sapphire's post, I googled, and came across basically the same article that was in Aruba Daily, except it's longer with a little more info. :

http://www.wtop.com/?nid=41&sid=2968231&pid=0&page=2

"...In May 2011, the family converged on Disney World to celebrate Colson's graduation from Florida Institute of Technology.
On Friday night, the siblings leafed through a bound picture book with snapshots of that last trip.
"You can tell how perky and how happy she is," Colson-Unglesbee said, pointing out one photo.
"She always had a smile on her face," her brother added.
Despite the sadness they feel now, the trip is a bright spot for the family, they said.
"Me and my sister were able to really bond there," Colson-Unglesbee said. "I think we spent two hours at the pool just sitting and chatting about life, and it was just wonderful."
"It's almost like it was meant to be," Colson added.
On Monday, the family will join with Gardner's friends and other relatives at a vigil in Frederick. On Tuesday, they will spend a quiet day together, praying for Gardner's return.
"We believe in the power of prayer," Colson-Unglesbee said.
"I believe she's alive," Colson said. "I still feel her presence, whether it's talking to her friends or random strangers or in my dreams. I can just feel her presence in almost everything I do."..."

Siblings of Robyn Gardner seek closure to their sister's disappearance in Aruba

Updated: 12:21 am, Tue Jul 31, 2012.

Almost a year has passed since Robyn Colson-Gardner disappeared in Aruba Aug. 2, 2011, but her siblings remain hopeful that their sister will eventually return home.

<snip>

The siblings refused to comment on Giordano’s connection to her disappearance and what they believe may have happened to their sister, but they do challenge reports of Gardner snorkeling at the time of her disappearance. Their sister wasn’t a strong swimmer and wouldn’t even be seen in the pool at family parties during summer months.

“Our family has a hard time believing she would go snorkeling at [Baby] Beach at that time of day,” Gardner’s older sister Danielle Colson-Unglesbee said.

Colson, of Elkridge, and Unglesbee, of Hampstead, have avoided talking publicly about the incident at the request of their mother, but are now speaking up about the struggles their family has endured as they search for answers.
*

Colson remembers trying to stay calm by believing that they would find her unharmed at another location on the island. While the Aruban authorities searched for close to a month, according to Colson, they still did not find out what happened to Gardner.

It’s important to the family that it not remain a cold case.

Its good to hear how the family has come together to support each other.
I wonder if their feelings about Robyn still being alive are based on information they have been given or a longing that their loved one is still here

BTW, Dushi, I noticed you were on this case from the very beginning, and are one of the few who are still here. to a truly dedicated Sleuther!

Unfortunately for me, I came in later, but better late than never I guess. It is kind of sad that many of the early posters who followed this case early on, have fallen by the wayside. :(

Yes, Neesaki, I have.
Its one of those mysteries that is very hard to let go of.
I so wish this case could be solved

I think there was a lot of interest in the beginning, but as time goes by and no answers are uncovered, people move on. Its understandable

As I read through the Missing Persons thread, I am always sadly amazed at how many people disappear and there are no arrests and no bodies found.
I always start out thinking this one won't take long to be solved and months later I am still reading in the same thread.

I know. I think all the cases I've been following are going unsolved, and ending up as cold cases. :(

So she's not a strong swimmer. Glad that's finally cleared up.

And this is something I had never heard about, that Robyn had any kidney problems that would warrant a possible kidney transplant. Never would have thought, she looked so healthy.

When their mother told Colson she had something to tell him about Gardner, but it wasn’t good news, many thoughts raced through his mind.

“The first thing I thought was maybe her health was bad,” he said, explaining she was expected to one day need a kidney transplant. “Then my mom told me that she was missing at sea.”

That is the first I have heard about any health problems
I wonder what underlying condition would lead to that?

Chronic kidney infections, glomerulonephritis, polycistic kidney disease, kidney damage from certain and overuse of some drugs, and diabetes, are just a few causes that come to mind. I don't think Robyn was diabetes, so that could probably be eliminated as a cause.

Forgive me as I need to make a correction: Should have been written as: "don't think Robyn had diabetes", or " was diabetic" . Sorry as that made no sense at all. :blushing:

So Gary, where. is. Robyn !?!?

I'm fuming and :furious: all over again. So I'm walking away, gonna go outside, :scream: at the top of my lungs, then throw darts at "Gary" for a while. Then if that doesn't do it, I'll just have myself a little cold pinot grigio....:needdrink:. Anyone care to join me?

This week marks the one year anniversary of the disappearance of Robyn Gardner and tonight, friends and family gather to remember the Frederick native.
http://www.foxbaltimore.com/newsroom/top_stories/videos/wbff_vid_14459.shtml

Gosh, wonder if GG showed up for it ? Ha!!! Yeah, sure he did! :what:
But surely he cares, how could he not? I mean, he was the last one to see Robyn alive. He was the one who allowed her to accidentally drift out to sea and "drowned"....
Surely, most certainly, this is an absolutely poor berieved man, who is in the depths of grief, feeling total and deep regret, intense remorse, and complete and absolute guilt for not watching over and saving his 'friend' ....
Oh well .... on another note, think we could convince him to walk through a bed of hot coals ?

Robyn Gardner's family holds vigil

Andrea Colson, Gardner's mother, said, "We'll continue to pray for Robin, for the answers we need and for closure of this devastating nightmare."
"It would help with the closure to get some answers, and it would definitely help the grieving process a little bit," added Gardner's brother, Andrew Colson.

Giordano's name was not mentioned at the vigil....

The family instead focused on Gardner, a woman, they say, could light up a room and a great practical joker.
The family said it meant a lot that dozens of people were willing to cram into a room with no AC to think of their loved one.
Danielle added, "It was incredibly touching. People that didn't even know her came out.

To Robyn's family: I am so glad to hear you are speaking out for Robyn. God Bless you, our hearts go out to you, our hopes and prayers are with you. I just wish we could do more. We want more than anything for Robyn to be found alive and safe. And of course, as far as any guilty party, I think I can safely say that we feel very strongly that justice be served.

Well, I hope you all don't mind me saying that I am somewhat disappointed in the lack of interest by what I had always thought of as loyal and concerned followers of Robyn's case, not showing any interest at all on the anniversary of her disappearance. IDK, it just makes me sad at the lack of committment and how the interest has seemed to so easily fall by the wayside. So typical I guess, but I suppose I'm too OCD, so maybe my expectations are just too high. Thank you though to those of you who have stuck with it and haven't abandoned the cause.

I think it is just because we all get so downhearted and dejected after watching case after case grow cold. It is hard to watch someone, that you KNOW is lying and covering up his evil deeds, just get away with it, again and again.

I have been too depressed about this case to check back. I did not even realize it was the one year anniversary. :rose::star::rose::angel:
