You're right. If the reporters had just gone into the Rum Reef and sat down, ordered a beer the bartender would have explained it so there would be no misunderstanding.

Baby Beach, the cove, lagoon, whatever you want to call it is circular. At the very bottom (south) are two openings. One is to the open sea where the water flows in and out. The other is a smaller opening that is protected from the open sea by rocks and there is a channel there where people can go snorkeling. The channel runs along the shoreline easterly. GG were on the outer portion of the circle before the opening in the south westerly direction and not physically on Baby Beach.

They will tell you to use the smaller entrance to get into the channel, not the opening to the ocean. There are warnings on websites that direct you where to enter the water and there were signs posted years ago. Plus it is pretty obvious not to go towards the opening even if you don't snorkel. It appears this poor woman was at the opening but obviously was not a victum of a rip tide because she was still there in the water and they were able to get her. If GG pointed out where he last saw RG and she was not there nor was she anywhere in the area in a calm sea what do you suppose LE would think? I think it clear when she did not surface after a day or two that maybe she did not go into the water at the exact spot GG claims she did. jmo

Thanks, LC. I have to say, and this is OT, but I don't even understand how this JW woman drowned in these calm waters, or even if they were just a little rough, in the first place. Are people that can't swim at all, getting in the ocean here? It is just beyond my understanding. So if you or anyone can explain, please, and TIA.

If a person drowns and there is no body, clearly the person the drowned person was with must have killed that person or else there would be a body.

lol-- i never said or implied this.

The exact text:

Those who saw the couple at the restaurant tell ABC News they were clearly in a romantic relationship, with Gardner reportedly telling the server, at one point, she was waiting for her "husband" to order.

The server at the restaurant said Giordano "inexplicably" jumped up after the couple sat down and introduced himself, saying, "My name is Gary and this is Robyn and we're from Maryland." The server found Giordano's behavior odd and reported it to authorities.

so-- as we already know-- GG lies... like a toupee, er, rug.

he was in "financial distress" and was clearly living way beyond his means (million dollar home, expensive vehicle) or he lied about his income to avoid childcare payments/taxes -- as neesaki theorized...

add a history of theft, fraud, and law suits...

doesn't take too much to add 1+1 imo.

adding to my post b/c i forgot to mention GGs past history of violence against women... several women. so yeah-- 1 + 1 !! imo

-respectfully snipped and bolded by me-

Last night I came across the video where this info originates.

"According to the police report, obtained by ABC News, Giordano told investigators that he and Robyn were drinking Vodka at the Marriott, and Robyn had a bottle of pills in her bag, I do not know what those pills are for".

Well, why should I be surprised. Again, another discrepancy. He says here that he "didn't know what the pills were for". While in most other reports, he stated "she took a sleeping pill".

I don't know if she was swimming or snorkeling. I don't believe they said. But there are no lifeguards there to my knowledge so it's swim at your own risk. We haven't heard what the results were for cause of death other than drowning so anything could have happened. But inside the cove portion of Baby Beach it is very calm and shallow for the most part.

I swim at Eagle Beach and if I am sitting on the lounge chair and my friend is in the water by herself I always watch to make sure she is okay. The currents are not strong there but it would be easy for someone to go under and not come back up for whatever reason. You just have to be careful. I never go in alone. jmo

just guessing-- maybe she got a cramp? held her breath too long underwater? panicked in water she couldn't stand in? or maybe she wasn't an experienced swimmer... could be anything. even experienced swimmers get into trouble... i doubt we'll ever know unless the husband say something down the road that is publicized.

Well, this is clearly bizarre behavior. Why would GG just jump up and introduce himself and Robyn to the waitstaff? Odd? Absolutely. jmo

But were they sleepingpills? Did ALE provide that information?

I assume ALE knows what kind of pills they were, since they probably found those pills in her bag or in the room, but did they inform the media of this, or are those pills speculated to be sleeping pills by the media?

I have not seen any article that mentiones Giordano informing the RumReef staff of Robyn's medication, nor of ALE stating to the media that Robyn was carrying/had taken sleeping pills. IMO

I posted that article to show that the RumReef worker did not state Giordano informed him of Robyn's medication.

Thanks, LC. Sounds like maybe there are some people who go into the ocean that don't really know how to swim, but maybe if they are told the water here is "calm", plus the name "Baby Beach", they think they can handle it. Anyway, thanks again. :)

I found the article.
ALE said they found Ambien in the hotelroom and that these were prescribed to Robyn. Giordano told them Robyn was carrying pills and that he did not know what they were for but that she had taken one of the pills that afternoon. No discrepancy here.

Investigators found Ambien in the hotel room Gardner shared with Giordano. She is prescribed the sleeping pills. Giordano told investigators Gardner took one of the pills in the afternoon. Later that day, he maintains Gardner disappeared while snorkeling. A combination of alcohol and a sleeping pill would make a person more vulnerable to a strong current.http://www.wjla.com/articles/2011/0...nts-expected-in-robyn-gardner-case-65872.html

Exactly and I don't think you are just being picky. It matters very much whether GG and RG went into the water from the sand at Baby Beach or over sharp rocks nearby.

It matters because RG doesn't appear to have had appropriate footwear to tackle the rocks.

It matters because if the pair has simply wanted a refreshing swim, then Baby Beach would have been the easier option.

It matters because the only reason to choose the rocky area is because it might provide better viewing for snorkeling, yet the time of day would seem to provide limited visibility.

All of this matter very much in terms of whether GG's stories are credible.] You aren't nit-picking at all, IMHO.

You are right. So have we "confirmed as fact " which beach they went snorkeling? I think GG said it was close to the "dive shop"--which one would
that be? Maybe we can at least agree on that much. Is there a map somewhere with the exact location confirmed by LE. I still don't know which beach you all are working with . Help me out here, I am going in circles.LOL.:iamashamed:

I posted that article to show that the RumReef worker did not state Giordano informed him of Robyn's medication.

My understanding, and this is a while back, was that the server reported this to LE because they were checking on whether or not the bar had served them drinks. I certainly don't have a link because it was some time ago but the interviewer did not say he asked the server about the drinking and the sleeping pills so that really isn't proof of anything. Just that it wasn't covered in the ABC interview. Maybe someone will remember, but I always thought he had mentioned to the server to explain why she was woosie. Pills were mentioned as being Ambien but that may have been a reference to sleeping pills in general, I don't know for sure.

I thought at the time why would he do that? Why tell a server she had just taken sleeping pills....sounded odd to me??? jmo

Go back about 5 or 6 pages. It's all there.

I posted a still from the re enactment video a few pages back where the actors go into the water wearing snorkels, seems ALE believes that is where they went snorkeling.

 you're right, forgive me, my focus gets a little off at times.

But while we're at it, what do you think of GG's behavior towards the server, as evidenced in the following quote.

"The server at the restaurant said Giordano "inexplicably" jumped up after the couple sat down and introduced himself, saying, "My name is Gary and this is Robyn and we're from Maryland." The server found Giordano's behavior odd and reported it to authorities."
Just curious. TIA. :seeya:

Lambchop I have read all the articles on this from the beginning of the case and have never read Giordano telling the RumReef worker about sleeping pills.
He did mention pills to the police, and when they later checked Robyn's belongings they found Ambien. Giordano had stated to the police to have seen her carrying a bottle of pills but not knowing what those were for.

Yes that would have been odd, but there were many misunderstandings early on. For example the RumReef worker said that he found it strange that Robyn and Giordano had went snorkeling (because Robyn was wearing make up etc). That was interpretated as Giordano having told the RumReef worker they would go snorkeling, but that was not the case, the RumReef worker was responding to what he had read in the news.

Correct, where Matt Gutman is standing and said this is where they went into the water and points to the rock where she cut her toe. The beachy area is right behind the restaurant area. jmo
