Can you explain the difference to me? Or does it mean exactly the same?
I thought it just meant not in contact with the ground.

(BBM) That would be an objection to the theory that the perpetrators are the same and the motives are the same. I'm not saying that at all. The Snowtown perpetrators are locked up or dead, I think. If they planned the K & K crime from gaol it would be from very different motives to the crimes against the earlier victims. As I said, it could be for revenge against a co-offender who later testified against them. And the similarities are not involuntary, but so that that person knows that the crimes against his relatives or connections are done by his former mates and for what reason. Alternatively, the K & K perpetrator could be a living victim of Snowtown, say a child of one of the people murdered, and K & K related to a Snowtown perpetrator. Again the reason for the similarity would be to send a message to K & K's family--this has happened to your people because of what you did to mine.
This is highly fanciful and tenuous and I've no reason to suppose that Karlie and Khandalyce were related to murderers.

Is this the whole photo or has it been cropped?
What strikes me as odd about it is that it doesn't really seem to be a photo of anything in particular. It doesn't seem like it was meant to be a photo of Khandalyce, the car or the person just in the frame. Almost like it was taken by accident when fiddling with the settings.
I don't particularly see it as relevant but odd to post a mishmash photo like that on facebook unless it was part of a photo dump. I don't have a clear memory of the types of other photos that were posted at the place where this picture originated from.....

Yeah, it's cropped.
Original showed whole car and 2 kids.
From my memory....there were just lots of photos of cars and a few with kids standing beside/in front of the cars...this one didn't seem out of place within the Album I saw it in.
You just never never know......On the subject of cases with similar connections the Craig Meffert one has some eerie similarities......

Inkpink - just googled this case. Another one for poor Des Bray it seems. What is it with SA - murders and welfare fraud? Is this a geographic socio-cultural thing? Or is it happening all over Australia?

BBM - It would be good to know the stats!
this is a good place to get stats...
http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/[email protected]/Lookup/4528.0Chapter52010-2011
unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be any stats on this later than 2012..there is a state by state breakdown,
IDENTITY FRAUD VICTIMISATION RATES BY STATE/TERRITORY, 2007 and 2010-11
(a) Refers to mainly urban areas only.
the incidence , back in 2012 of this kind of fraud, was higher in Western Au, than anywhere else, and lower in SA and TAS than anywhere else.. . .
looking at the stats, it appears that the economic footprint of people doesn't extrapolate to bankcard theft, ( identity theft ) .. that is, the average income in SA and TAS is lower than the rest of the country, yet it also has the lowest incidence of this particular theft. So either the thieves of SA and TAS haven't caught up, or they are just all round nicer people. .. It's a toss-up.

I had looked that info up, I can't see anything yet that relates specifically to deceased/murdered victims. Still looking.....

Yeah. It's the murder-identity theft correlation I'd find interesting. A lot seems to be emanating from
SA but that might just be reporting bias because of Snowton...

that kind of stat would be found in the AU crime reports.. The Australian Federal Police have good stats on this, published yearly, it isn't a matter for banks if the card owner is dead, or alive when the card /identity is stolen. That is not something the financial institutions would keep tally of.
Besides, a card stolen from a dead and/or murdered person often isn't discovered as stolen until the murder itself is discovered, as you can appreciate. Sometimes this is a matter of hours, sometimes a matter of years, as in the case of Craig, and Karlie etc..
The AFP site in this regard is limited to public use and does require a password, but the general tone is, that most murderers take all cards of identity usually. Not every time, but usually. Drivers licence, pension card ,transport card, MYKI, OPAL, bankcard, credit card, Myer card, Grace Bros card, loyalty cards, on and on , the full panoply of cards that one usually holds. According to the AFP site, most of these cards are tried out, some , not all, are successfully used immediately, and naturally enough, the cards taken from a live body are used very quickly as opposed to a dead card holder, whose card use is strung out... for as long as it can be.

Could you provide the link to the info on that site?

Do you think the main purpose is for financial gain or a "cover/proof of life" scenario or behind the third door option 3 .... Determining murdering psychos motives for ID theft is like trying to herd cats. Hopeless and futile.
I still find it hard to calm my anger when I think of the call to the mother... Cold cold cold blood.

BBM - Not sure, that's why I would love to see some comprehensive statistics, not that i'ts necessarily going to give any answers in this case but my interest is peaked!
The calls are another level of evil. <modsnip>
