Binge drinking is more of a problem in Aus than drugs, especially when it is binge drinking and recreational drugs.

Right now, it's almost 8 a.m. tomorrow (Sept. 2) there.

It's almost 11 p.m. Sept. 1 Eastern Time in the U.S. right now.

EDIT:
Correction: It's almost 1 p.m. Sept. 2 there right now.

I wonder what sparked the melee. This is awful.

Pedestrian struck by car as bloody brawl rages in Collingwood

Collingwood residents have described scenes of anarchy and chaos after a car sped towards brawling partygoers in their quiet street on Sunday morning, hitting parked cars then leaving a man with serious leg injuries.
...

“It was just anarchy,” said resident Michael Devine. “I sort of saw a flash on a car and heard a screech and then bang ...''
...

“It just seemed like no one was there, police weren’t there yet, so I thought maybe I could try and help out,'' Mr Devine said.

When emergency services arrived, he and his friends went back to the house for blankets.

“There were people fighting in the street, there was a guy lying flat on the concrete across the road,” said Andrew Kelly, who was also at the scene.

“As Michael went home he brushed a man who yelled ‘don’t you touch me’ and just punched him.”

Mr Devine said the man “kicked the hell out of me". "It was like they were all coming at me,” he said.

A binge-drunk mob? Good lord, that would be terrifying. I wonder how long it went on before police could get it under control. Since it just happened a few hours ago, hopefully we'll learn more as the investigation continues.

Not an uncommon incident in Aus. The club will feel some consequences I am sure.

How late can clubs stay open in Australia if they have a late serving license?

The bloody fools got a skin full and started a blue. It’s not the first & it won’t be the last.

The problem is they don’t have a fair fight these days. It’s not one on one it’s 5+ on one with glassings, knives and vehicles.

Then the cowards run into the night and leave someone to die alone on a footpath.

Yes, they let them all out at the same time. They are milling around, waiting for taxis and all pissed up and at a loose end.
I can't imagine why one of them had a car there, where I live the police sit outside pubs or up the street and breath test anyone near a pub or club.

It could be gang related.

Commander Hansen said police were aware of the event and were patrolling the area.

"History shows us that the demographic of the crowd we're talking about, so it's primarily Pacific Islanders and African-Australians … because of that, because it's an event in the CBD or immediate surrounds, it's not uncommon for us to task police units to keep a close eye on certain locations," he said.

I thought that the Pacific Islander violence had run its course. It was a problem in Sydney, years ago but I thought that that had finished.
