Austin was last seen riding in a car in Auburn, Washington on November 7, 2008. He and his 2-year-old cousin were riding with Austin's 16-year-old step-sister. It was raining that day, and she lost control of the car, swerved into oncoming traffic and down an embankment into the Green River. Loni was able to swim to safety, but she was unable to rescue the boys. A few days later, the car was pulled from the river and the 2-year-old's body was recovered. Austin's body was not in the vehicle and has never been found. He is presumed drowned.
