Australia AUSTRALIA - 4YO AUGUST (GUS) Missing from rural family home in Outback, Yunta, South Australia, 27th Sept 2025

With respect, you haven't seen the whole video. They only published a segment of it.

Anyway, cops have come on the telly dismissing the incident as Josie trying to disarm a snake on her porch. So that is that, then.

Just a coincidence she was yelling at the Daily Mail lady. What Josie was really after was the snake. According to SAPOL.
Maybe the police are trying to stay in her good graces and for continued cooperation MOO

He won't be found, by anyone, is my prediction.

Imo
It’s not looking good.
Even if the culprit is found they’re not likely to say where Gus is .
Finding a needle in a hay stack would be way easier .

Deputy Police Commissioner Linda Williams said on Friday that Ms Murray was using the gun to “dispatch a snake” and had no threatening intentions, and labelled the Daily Mail’s actions as “disgraceful”.
My understanding is two members from the Daily Mail organisation, despite numerous warnings over numerous days and weeks … have gone on to private property,” she said.

“As they’ve entered near the property, one of the persons at the homestead was outside on the porch using a shotgun to dispatch a snake that was obviously on their porch and they’ve then approached by this person.

“There was no intent for the person having that firearm at that time to be threatening.”
Ms Williams warned the public to stay off private property.

“If this persists, then action will be taken, you will either be reported or arrested, this is completely disgraceful conduct,” she said.

Ms Williams said the actions of the homeowner had been assessed and no further action would be taken.

“The person had the gun for a legitimate purpose, they were dispatching a snake that was on their porch,” she said.

Well, my 5'0" little blonde mother used a piece of wire
to kill snakes on the back verandah. Pity she couldn't have taught Josie.
PS Thank you to whoever made me a Websleuths Guardian, it's an honour I don't deserve! 😘 😘

The Mail reported the firearm as a pump action shotgun, although another poster said it was not a shotgun. What strikes me, looking at the end of the barrel in the Mail's photograph, is that the barrel looks very wide indeed for taking out a snake. Maybe someone who knows more about guns than I do could comment.
The barrels are wider as they need to accommodate the cartridges that are used in shotguns.
Cartridges contain many single pellets, which spread out after being fired, which are more effective for faster moving game and pests as the shot covers more area rather than single bullet guns, like a rifle, for instance.

My little idea is that police put her up to it. That she first asked them to keep the journalists off, and they said they wouldn't. That she then asked what she could do about it. That police told her that she could tell them to leave. "They'll get a bullet up their backside, can I do that? Can I at least chase them off with my gun?" "Um, no. But, look, you've got a licence to use the gun on your property. If you happen to be carrying the gun when you tell them to leave . . . don't point it at them of course . . . but they'll get the message. Who's to say you're not handling the gun for a legitimate purpose, like pursuing a snake?" "Snakes is right."

I've helpfully found a video of a 12 gauge deleting a snake.

It's an American video and the actual graphic parts of the video have been taken out so it's not too scary to watch.

Check out this video from this search, pump action shotgun kills snake https://share.google/729LS8vn6pZCjjeq3

I just also wanted to add that I do like animals, even snakes, and I don't think a gun is a humane way to deal with a snake. Jmo

I really don't think the Police would do something like encourage someone to even hold a gun to scare someone off.

His family have been extensively interviewed
Where is your link to this?
My little idea is that police put her up to it.
No, I can't imagine police would suggest anyone to do anything illegal. And as the police said, Josie was just disarming a snake.

It would just have been an unfortunate coincidence that a media person went to the property to ask if the family wanted to share their story.

It's just bad timing with the snake being there.

I don't know how to read this. And I can't pursue the subject because I'd be getting political.

Like @TootsieFootsie I don't think the police would have "put her (Josie) up to this."

I can't believe they now refuse to let Gus's father back on the property even just to continue searching for his son on his own.
Do you have a link for this? I have not heard this before.

Which snake? The one on her porch or the one in her driveway? ;)

Given that it's illegal to kill snakes in all states of Australia unless they are an imminent risk to human life, I'd guess police didn't put her up to it. Being on a porch would unlikely be considered an imminent threat.

I have no link . Isn’t it police protocol to thoroughly question people that last saw a missing person and ask who did what, when and where to make sure their stories align ? I’m assuming this was done before such a huge search was done .

I’ve read this article a couple of times over the last few days as I find a few comments from Mr Boland ( the tracker ) to be interesting, perhaps more so the things he’s careful not to say (due imo to his understanding & support of investigations)

DM I know - but if comments are attributed, I think they’d be asking for trouble if not accurate. .. jmo.

She sounds really scared.

Her voice is very small and childlike in comparison with Josie's booming voice.

You can call her a snake but she's a woman, she looks kind of small in her Tik Tok videos and she's a human being sent on assignment interstate to Yunta.

Presumably she's away from her own support network, and I can imagine she's feeling quite alone.

We all deserve to go to work and come home safely. I feel also for her family who may have watched the gun interaction on the tele News.

She says that she is a mum, and she feels sympathy. Her own kids must be worried about her.

Every action has a reaction. What's going to be the repercussions for this journalist in her daily life from what she's experienced at work on that day? What if she develops PTSD or an anxiety disorder from this??

And who is going to independently tell the public what's going on with this case if we don't have independent media reporting??

Shall we get all our media updates from SAPOL?

So do they now get to control the message or this story? And why?

You might have that assumption and you might be right, or you might be wrong.

But there's no link. We don't know if police have thoroughly questioned people.

Here's my first question, "has the dad been interviewed or thoroughly questioned?"

And my follow up questions are:

"Have all alibis been checked?"

"Has the Oak Park homestead been searched inside?"

I can't answer any of these questions because there's no news article to confirm any of this.

Can we all please be done with the DM story about the unlawful scare tactics that Joshe deliberately used to scare trespassers away? And get back to trying to find lil Gus? We finally all see how much anger his grandparent has & what will happen if confronted by anyone wanting to help. These people are very private people who don’t want help as I see it. I say let them be to deal with this all on their own. You can’t help people who don’t want help. Where are you lil guy? I’m praying for you & will continue to until ur found. God Speed 🙏
