Australia AUSTRALIA - 4YO AUGUST (GUS) Missing from rural family home in Outback, Yunta, South Australia, 27th Sept 2025

The host of the ABC Overnights didn't stop Bob from talking.
He'd already answered his two questions for the draw and only then did Bob talk about needing people for a search for a lost boy.

The host didn't cut him off but suggested he give the details to the producer who the entrants talk to when they ring up.
Then he went on to the next person.
The announcer did not linger with him though, like they do with some people. To me, he sounded like he quickly moved on. Might have been getting close to the news or something. I was half asleep.

I, too, listened to this whole section. I persisted well beyond the Cold Play song, but didn't hear the part with Bob either. This has me quite interested. I am wondering if they are looking for Gus on the Tiver property or on Oak Park Station.

yes I am very interested as to where the are looking

This case reminds me of little Emile S. in the French Alps.
Nobody really knows what happened.
He allegedly wandered off from grandparents' house.
Searches were not successful.

Then,
one day,
a hiker found a little skull on the track.
His clothes were discovered later in the area previously searched.

Such a heartbreaking case :(
He was only 2 and a half years old.
He looked like a little Angel, just like Gus :(

The case remains under investigation,
and the cause of Emile's death has not been formally established.

There is a thread on WS about this tragedy.

If someone thinks they know something, it should be more than just an idea or opinion for it to be taken seriously.

Most of us have various ideas on what we think happened.

They can't all be correct.

I haven’t listened to the ABC radio comments in question but to me it just sounds like someone in the public who is upset and desperately hoping to find Gus, making a comment about how they think no one is looking or working hard enough to find him (which in my opinion is not true) and that they must be the only ones making some kind of effort, what ever level of effort that may be. I see the comments as no more than that, which is likely how the radio host treated the comments and moved on (IMO).

I think the person was legit. If you search for Bob with Fleur then you'll work out a connection between them. I think he means no one other than police are looking for them. No idea where they would be looking but I guess Fleur being next door then likely in public areas, roadsides perhaps and/or Fleur's property. As for the thinking he's still alive comment, it doesn't really make sense if they are searching for him.

Bob and Fleur could well indeed be doing some kind of searching (who knows) but it sounds to me like it is their opinion they are the only ones searching. They could be actually looking on a property, they could be door knocking, they could be putting up posters, or they could simply just be searching online for answers. The comment that they are the only ones searching doesn’t mean anything more than that IMO. People on the internet (us) don’t know all the ins and outs of what’s happening on the ground. IMO Bob is speculating and commenting about the situation not too differently to people on this thread. We don’t know, probably won’t find out.

Edit - that’s not meant to sound like an attack by the way (apologies if it came across that way), I just don’t think the comments really have any weight or worth spending too much time on. People talk about this Gus situation all the time - at home, in the street, at the pub - but it’s just people talking and giving opinions and speculation. I don’t believe we have to scrutinise every person in the public’s comments or opinions, this doesn’t feel much different to me. MOO.

Even so, thank you to Fleur and Bob for continuing to care and search.

Yes, agreed. Didn’t mean to sound like I was squashing what Bob might be feeling or doing.

It’s a tough one. Almost daily I think about Gus and his family and it’s hard to come to terms with and understand. Thinking of them and Gus and desperately hoping he is found soon.

I am guessing that if this was a legitimate call, ABC MSM might be a better place to call for searchers - rather than their late night quiz show. And the producer might steer the caller in that direction. I think that MSM is chomping at the bit to publish any legitimate news re: Gus.

reminded me of that too... remote; tiny village...did not recall if there was no sign of foul play

I heard the radio program and simply made a comment. He said that he and Fleur were the only 2 looking for Gus. That is new information to us. Just an interesting little bit of new info from someone who seems to be in the ground.

We all stay on here for the comments, theories, speculations, looking at all the details, timelines, hashing over everything.

On the ABC radio show in question, Bob said he was trying to muster a group of people to help search for Gus. He was keen to share this with the presenter and listeners. Not sure what to make of it, really.

I'm sure people closely connected to the case are frustrated. unhappy and upset that Gus has not been found.

I can understand that. :(

ABC put out an article about Gus, about 10 hours ago. (Doesn't mention the late night quiz phone call)

Sounds as though the family told the investigators about the mines and/or asked them to search the mines that they recently searched.

But they indicated the decision to search them had followed conversations with Gus's loved ones.

That came out in discussions with family, and [as] part of the inquiry we have to eliminate all potential areas," Assistant Commissioner Newitt said.

Is it odd to anyone else that it took this long to search mines? The article makes it sound like mines were a recent conversation with the family. I never want to be in this situation, but if I were I think I'd drive police mad with all my suggestions in a bid to make sure everything possible is covered. I might ring police at 3am and tell them about the guy I accidently cut off in traffic last July who may now want to seek revenge.

I wonder when those mines were mentioned. Probably takes the police a little while to decide to search and pull the resources together, depending what those resources are currently working on. Maybe a week or two or three? Because it is a recovery mission.

And this phase is outside what they considered the most likely areas - which I think was up to an expanded 5km from the homestead.

Firstly, I know it's already been questioned, but I wonder if the Fleur he mentions is connected the the neighbouring Tiver Station, aka Fleur Tiver...

Secondly, his comments along the lines of nobody is looking except for two people, him and Fleur - I feel like that's so sad, but also lovely of him to continue to search, and to try to bring attention to it on national radio.

He wants to form a group of volunteers to help search for Gus - I wonder, if a group of volunteers were formed, would the family allow them on the property? Has this already been addressed and I've forgotten?

"That came out in discussions with family..."

I would like to know when this came out in the discussions with family? I'm sure I won't get an answer, but I do find it quite strange and interesting. I would have thought it would be brought up in the initial phase, not one to two months later.

And, also it's so strange because it was mentioned by locals to reporters about the mineshafts in the beginning. Wasn't this discussion had between police and family at some point in the beginning? Can't imagine it taking two months to set up this latest search.

So many questions.
