that's a good point, would sheep dogs follow Gus and try to 'herd' him home?
No. They are kept in cages for the high majority. These animals are not “pets”
They are working dogs.
They don’t wander, they follow commands by their owners.

New to this case.. haven’t done research yet, but wondering if anyone knows why this little guy lived with his grandparents ? Was he fostered to them after taken from his parents by the system?

As I said, haven’t done any research just have a suspicion that maybe he’s with his parents and this is a cover up. Given the fact there is absolutely no trace at all, just my gut feeling.

I doubt if anyone knows who was on the property at the time Gus disappeared, or what relationships are like in the household, three friends have been in touch with the media and basically said everyone should just go away and mind their own business so the family can grieve in peace, we don't know if Gus's mother and father helped a great deal or at all in the search and we don't know if their driveway is 25kms long with six gates as stated by police or 250m long and no gates as stated by Google.
And in a nutshell that's brought you up to speed...so you haven't missed out on anything really.
If you do find out what's going on then you could please let us all know.

Sadly, I think this may be very much like the William Tyrell case. Nothing is made public because of the laws around kids in foster care.. meaning not much information and lots of un answered questions.
I do hope I’m wrong, but it is giving me those vibes for sure

Sheep dogs can hear a car from a mile away, maybe 2 miles is stretching the imagination, but that's where I was coming from with all this business about the distance to the closest public road.
I don't think it has ever been reported about their own sheep dogs, that's if they had any. I would have thought they would have been around the house. My dogs would be, but maybe the dogs have their own housing. However those sheep dogs would not have stayed quiet had a car arrived.

Re people/friends talking on behalf of the family...

I'm always very sceptical.

I cannot count how many times I read reports of neighbours' reactions:
"Oh,
we are all shocked.
He/She was such a nice person,
always said Hello."

Really,
nobody knows what is happening behind closed doors of other people's homes.

Just My General Opinion.

His mother was at the home at the time he went missing. That's all that's been said regarding his parents I think?

There are some dogs that look like kelpies (working dogs) near the farmhouse in the last bit of this video at approximately 1:35

They might not have been near the house at the time Gus allegedly disappeared though, often they are used by farmers to help with sheep work. They could have been kilometres away helping other family members on the property.
Or in their kennels for the evening. Working dogs are usually not left to roam.

Have you seen anything in msm about Gus being in foster care, or is this entirely your own opinion? Would explain why Grandma took responsibility, and not the Mum.

Also,
in my earlier DM link
it was stated Father helped during night search.

PS
I found it:

"Jen and I were the only ones searching nights,
apart from Monday night the father joined us,
and we would head home when main search crews arrived through the day."

Kept in cages, really. I didn't know that. The only working dogs I know of had also been kept as pets. Working dogs are part of the family. I would have thought at least one dog would have been a house dog.
