Australia AUSTRALIA - 4YO AUGUST (GUS) Missing from rural family home in Outback, Yunta, South Australia, 27th Sept 2025

Like other posters, I think LE must have found something of interest on the InfraRed images on the surface of the ground.
I don’t think it has GPR (ground penetrating radar) capabilities, haven’t researched it enough.
But that doesn’t mean to say it isn’t a partial burial or has been unearthed somehow imo.
IF and a big IF a third party was involved.

Please find this little guy.

The Australian Federal Police do have Ground Penetrating Radar.

But am unsure if they will be in attendance.

Yes, thanks, I meant the infrared doesn’t have GPR capabilities AFAIK, it’s separate tech, right?

Such a remote location. I can't fathom that reporters are camped out. So why is LE giving advanced notice?

Is it for public interest? Doubt it. Is it to stave media? Maybe. To spook someone, if foul play is suspected? Two-fold move? Follow up on targeted intel AND put someone on notice, see what they'll do?

Why the scheduled search. Who not just descend upon it and inform the media in real time?

Wondering what had led them to the new search area...

Drone anomaly... colors... disturbed earth... cellphone or vehicle telematics?

Let's bring that little guy home.

Hopefully someone does have him, so that he has a chance of being found alive. Imo

From what I have read you have to go through 5 or 6 gates to get from the road to the homestead.

Would have to be the world's luckiest and most stupid kidnapper when there could be a trail camera on any of those gates to record the whole thing.

I don't think kidnapping is likely due to the barriers one would face getting a car into the property.

Unless they came on foot and had a car waiting at the road??

It would be a busy place to run.

There would be workers. Lots of maintenance people entering and leaving, who would be assisting in the station operations

Vans as also delivering food, house items

Trucks for produce and animal feeds

Its a fair assumption given the size of the place and time of year. Very curious why the media havent been clear on this.

Even small farms often have help even if its on a casual or as needed basis.
It may not be a working station, or they may not currently have it stocked.

It all reminds me somehow of Samantha M. case.
Searches.
Then
targeted searches - but no trace of poor Samantha :(

And occasional visits by vets and the odd government official, presumably.

I'm wondering at this stage, when they say the family is continuing to assist with the investigation, what does that mean? What else at this point could the family assist with?

Other than known locations on the property where they think Gus may have gone, what else could it be? Or does 'assist' mean the family is simply allowing LE access to the property?

Even the word investigation is curious to me, rather than say, assist with the search. I guess it's simply a matter of wording.

“There continues to be regular and close engagement with the Lamont family, who are continuing to assist with the investigation."

If it was to spook someone and they had their eye on someone how would they possibly be monitoring their movements considering the area is so isolated. It's not like an undercover operation could take place out there.

What exactly was the radius in kilometers of the previous search?

Because now they will search further.

I'm curious if it is possible for a 4-year-old to walk such distance all by himself?
I've only seen reported in the earlier day's being a 2.5km radius

I think it means that the family are still talking with the police, as well as allowing access and answering questions. The police are trying to tell the public that the family hasn't lawyered up or anything like that.

imo

Thank you!

So, not very far.

It must of gotten expanded though if 47,000 hectares has been searched. A 2.5km radius is only approximately 1,963.5 hectares.

Just seems to be no 100% fact of exactly how much of Oak Park Station has been searched nor the actual size of said property.

I have a stupid question. What do you do on a sheep station when there aren't any sheep? How do you earn an income and generate enough expendable income to live?

(I'm not a sheep farm girlie so humour me...)

Job Seeker, Farm Household Allowance …

Imo.

The wording is very guarded. Advance notice to the media? Police may be tying up loose ends leading to an arrest. MOO

“The ADF will again be on hand to assist as authorities head back to the outback region near Yunta on Tuesday, armed with a reinvigorated idea that they may locate the child.”

“Reinvigorated idea”? 🤷

I tried to do all the math with square miles, square km, acres and hectares, and I got in such a muddle I had to give up. I have decided not to think about it again.

I looked into this further and it appears that for a child of 4 and up, 1/2 mile per year of age is a good rule of thumb. So Gus should have been able to walk 2 miles without undue difficulty.

Obviously this depends on how active and fit an individual child is and how used they are to being active. No doubt there are some very sedentary kids who would struggle to walk 100m but equally there will be 4 year olds in traditional nomadic groups who could easily cover 5 to 10 miles in a day.

It's also such a definitive announcement. Like they are aware of the outcome.

Perhaps, in tandem with technology, they have an assisting POI who aided in identifying a location...
