Australia AUSTRALIA - 4YO AUGUST (GUS) Missing from rural family home in Outback, Yunta, South Australia, 27th Sept 2025

I've read, Shannon cooked dinner, but I also have read, that she went for a walk. What is true?
Wasn't she also caring for the 1-year-old brother?

Where have you read that Shannon went for a walk??

Shannon was inside the homestead looking after Ronnie.

Shannon was inside the homestead looking after Gus' one-year-old brother Ronnie at the time.

Why saving/protecting little Gus and leaving little Ronnie behind? Wouldn't he have the same fate (whatever it is) in the near future, and wouldn't he have to be protected also?
I think it's possible that Ronnie has now been protected, in whatever way, to make sure he is safe.

<modsnip: If you can't say it, don't hint at it>

Imo

<modsnip: No indication of foul play>

Especially when you consider that the reporter says that when she made her statement about the incident to the police, Deputy Police Commissioner Linda Williams said "It's going to be very hard to prove that she wasn't out there removing a snake for example..." which sounded to me like the policewoman conveniently supplying Josie with a reason for having her gun out.

It sounds like LE are sick of the DM also.

LE typically doesn't like nosy reporters breathing down their necks ;)
Or asking tough questions hehehe

But free Press is essential in democracy.

Investigative journalists are doing a good job informing the public.

Yep. Jonica also released the stills taken from a video of Desmond Filby / Freeman that was filmed by a family member. The police condemned this as well.

Jonica / The Daily Mail doesn't seem to have much respect for victims IMO

The circulation of footage taken when fugitive Dezi Freeman allegedly shot dead two police officers and wounded a third is “distressing and disappointing”, the Victoria police force has said.

“From a Victoria police point of view, it is both distressing and disappointing,” Kelly said.

“I can only imagine the impact that’s had on the family of Neal and Vadim and the colleagues who were present, and the broader Victoria police and law enforcement across Australia.”

Reporters of the DM will know, what we want to learn of. But their hands are tied. You know: trespassing etcetera.
How would that be when the victims (parents and grand parents) aren't speaking to the Daily Mail? I think they've burned their bridges there through poor journalistic practice (that's putting it mildly).

But the DM is what it is. I think it's fair to hypothesise that this family want nothing to do with the Daily Mail. Jmo

And, Imo, the Daily Mail tied their own hands. They entered onto private property after family had explicitly requested that the media stay away. They were never going to get a 'story', technically trespassing or not.

Ms Bray went and intruded anyway, the day before the dam was to be searched. Can you imagine how rude and disrespectful that must have felt for JM and SM after the efforts they had made to communicate their need for space? Not knowing if their grandson's body was going to be pulled from a dam the next day? Moo, the DM has no shame.

If the police thought Josie acted outrageously with her gun they would have cited or charged her according to Australian law.

This “reporter” with no journalistic ethics that trespasses after being told to stay away and harasses a family that hasn’t been proven to harm their child continues to take a story about a missing boy and make it all about her. “ME! ME! ME! POOR ME!” I’m done with her. This Johnny Somali* of tabloid reporters can go for a long walk.

*American social media pest that travels to foreign countries and harasses the locals for clicks. Currently facing criminal charges in South Korea.

Agree. The response from the police and searchers has been extensive. It’s a difficult expanse of land and the multiple buildings have numerous small spaces where a child could hide and get stuck, though I’d think enough of the people working this case have a good understanding of sheep stations and what is required to do a thorough search of it. I think it’s highly unlikely the dirt pile hasn’t been checked.
100% agree. The sand /dirt pile where Gus was last seen by SM has been thoroughly examined by the experts. He's not there. Moo

And yes, yes, yes, it's an extremely complex and difficult search area. Both the homestead and building perimeter, and the land beyond.

This is not a barren, flat wasteland as it appears to be from the air. Too many links and descriptions to repeatedly post on this thread, but the ground is uneven, undulating, rocky with trees and bushes. It is harsh and full of crevices.

Moo a small child could very easily become disorientated and then lost, especially on dark.. Cross one
undulation and suddenly the home building and the lights are out of sight. Gus could have wandered some distance, stumbling in the growing dark. Imo it's possible he may have wandered lost a good distance ( possibly outside the initial search radius ). Or your other other suggestion, crawled into a small space within a closer radius where he may have got stuck and succumbed to restrictive asphyxia for e.g.😞

The search response has been phenomenal but I don't agree with those claiming that it's not possible that Gus is out there.Imo, Task Force Horizon will continue to analyse and tailor searches using their considerable resources and expertise.

Moo...I wonder if the dogs have burrows? My dog has a burrow under a shed to escape the heat. I wouldn't know it was there except for wondering where she was and seeing her scramble out of a tiny opening I wouldn't of thought she could get through. The unseen excavation she has made is really quite large and deep...moo

7. Gus could have hidden in the vehicle before Gus’s mother and a grandparent went to tend the sheep. He got out when the vehicle stopped, continued to hide and has been left behind.
Interesting.

Gus Lamont: SA Police return to remote Yunta property for fourth time in search for missing boy

““There is no evidence of foul play at this time but, as I’ve said publicly before, we are still open to any possibilities that might have resulted in Gus having gone missing,” Stevens said.”

Anyone with any information is urged to contact police.”

Just like they vowed to find Dezi Freeman?

I don't envy them their job, that's for sure.

From reading Aussie cases here on WS, I'm left feeling like people just get swallowed up whole there sometimes, never seen again! But I suppose it's like that everywhere at times. Like sometimes, the Earth just gets hungry, and you're its unlucky meal. Then again, sometimes it spits them back out too. So hard to wait to see what happens this time though.

To be fair, that's not an uncommon use of a gun on a country property. That, and perhaps scaring off/killing anything attacking livestock, putting down a sickly animal, killing pests, and depending on the terrain, shooting animals for food.

It's very likely it was just a coincidence that police suggested that one day, and Josie made a statement stating the same reason the day after.

The #6 suggestion is interesting, that Gus was removed by someone for his own protection. At this stage, how I would love that to be true!

Someone gifted me a guardian,? I don't know what to say, except thank you so much. That is so incredibly kind and lovely. Whoever you are, sending a hug and gratitude through the ether.

ETA, going to have so much fun with the added reactions. Whoever you are, you're a treasure. And I can react by chuckling again ( where appropriate)!

A small footprint in the dust was the only thing left behind when little Gus Lamont vanished.

It was found 500 yards from a pile of red dirt which the four-year-old liked to use as a sandpit.

His grandmother says she saw him playing there at 5pm two Saturday evenings ago.”

Dunno if LE referred to it as that but I think I remember msm referring to it that way

Though the OP was referring to one of the grandparents saying that. Which isn't so. It is reporter description.

The police say that the grandmother said he was playing "playing in the sand like he normally does". (link provided)
The reporter has described it as a pile of red dirt themselves.

imo
