Wandering off Gus might be true
BUT much earlier.
And if JM was riding his bike to and fro,
who knows,
maybe there was an accident involving Gus and JM on the bike?
Maybe he didn't notice the boy and accident happened?

And SM helped with covering up?

The bike was taken by Police.
Why?
Phones are examined.
Did JM phone SM to come to the place of accident?
Were they communicating by phone?
At what times?

It all depends when Jess saw Gus alive.

I think it was an accident
because if JM was abusive towards Gus
would Jess stay there?

She could always return to her husband,
regardless of the state of the house he was decorating.
She was to move there soon with kids.

The only reason people cover up accidental deaths is if they would be charged for doing something wrong, imo.

Such as, drunk driving, assault/abuse, negligence, or other criminal activity like drug importation etc

The entire scenario as told in the beginning is suspect. At this juncture, for me, there is no timeline, as we have no clue what really happened, who, when, where, how, or why. We have narrowed the who piece though. IMO.

Josie was indeed the gun toting grandparent of the couple.

But I think Jess agreed with these reports?
Who she worked with.
Who stayed with children.

And she is not a suspect.

everything that was reported was corroborated by her, no?

Now that there's a crack in the story, what are the odds that, of all the hours in a day, Gus "went missing" just before the others got back? As if it just happened.

IMO it wasn't just keeping the truth from LE, they had to keep it from Jess. Who IMO as a matter of course might not have seen Gus since the night before, assuming she left really early to tend to tasks.

When she gets back, she learns he's just gone missing. Jess would be thinking he couldn't have gotten far and would have been searching for a live little boy who could only be steps ahead ...

But in reality, since we don't know what happened to Gus, we also don't know when it happened. Or when he was relocated. Or even whether more than once.

Up until this presser, we don't know that Jess even knew what direction LE was going with this. She may have believed the version of events she'd been told.

I hate that she was lied to. Lost her little boy and was lied to and probably gaslight for months.

I hurt for her.

re lunch, i've been following this and grew up around farmers in a similar place, in my experience it would be weirder to stop work and go home for lunch, all the farmers and winemakers i knew would eat in the morning (or honestly just have a big coffee and a cig) work all day and then just have a massive dinner. If anything, they'd take something with them, but I think culturally even that would be a bit strange unless it was something very quick and easy.

I have been thinking about a possible scenario / making speculations and this is based on information in a Daily Mail article (https://archive.is/OgOP7#selection-1479.20-1479.225)

According to the article, Mum (Jess) and Dad (Joshua) live separately - " Gus' father Joshua Lamont lives a two-hour drive from Oak Park, at a ramshackle farmhouse in Belalie North, near Jamestown. A friend told Daily Mail that Joshua and Jess remain a couple but have a 'commuter relationship' because he clashes with Josie."

One possible thought is that I wonder if Jess had stayed with her husband the night prior (Friday) to him being reported missing (Saturday). She could have then met Josie at the spot they were working on the farm which was reported to be 10km from the homestead. This would potentially give a much bigger window of opportunity for a crime to be covered up.

We don't know any of the actual timings of:
- when the last confirmed and collaborated sighting of Gus (not just what Shannon has said/ has been in media)
- when did Josie and Jess meet to work on the property (unknown)

I've never felt that grandparent JM was necessarily involved, and the gun incident didn't really elevate my suspicions too much either. Probably I was naive, just thinking it was the way station owners in the outback were, rough talking and kind of frontier minded. But after the latest big development in the case, IMO, I do think both the grandparents are in on this, rather than just one of them. Regarding the parents of Gus, glad to hear they are in the clear.

But, what behaviour have we seen from the two of them? We have seen very little, but what we have seen is that one appears meek and anxious, while the other appears to be arrogant and combative.

Which one would be most likely to withdraw cooperation with the police?

My opinion, the entire scheme reeks of evil, a level of sickness that allows what? Think about it, the resources thrown at this thing, the righteous anger at anyone who questions, the blatant lies to any and all, the draining of a pond, searching abandoned mines, brutal and dangerous environmental conditions, oppressive heat, countless hours and huge cost.... it's disgusting, evil, and sick beyond pale. I don't know who killed Gus, or how, or if he met an unfortunate accident that they covered up...but I know what I've seen over the course of this case. Total corrupt, evil, amoral behavior, hands down. And all along, one, or both of them knew the truth, and to this day, know where Gus's body is, or worse, what was done with it. Depraved. My opinion.

IMOO if there was a discrepancy in the time line of events from the onset I would have thought Police would have been onto this earlier.
If the discrepancy came from Jess then she has lied initially, either knowingly or unknowingly or requested. If requested, maybe she has had time to think and realized something was not right or possibly has realized herself that something in her time line was incorrect and so has changed her version of events.
OR one of the Grandparents has cracked either accidentally or on purpose.
IMOO there is a scenario where Jess and Josie came home earlier than originally stated and something happened then (without Jess's knowledge) and that is why it took so long to report his disappearance. They would have all headed off in different directions to look for Gus and so would have been none the wiser as what each was actually doing.

tv news this morning mentioned among the numerous items taken from the home by police in january were electrical items, so wondering if that included a computer/laptop and what evidence they may have found on devices?

At the 32:32 minute mark in the press conference, a journalist asks if police think Gus was on the property when police arrived.
Detective Superintendent Fielke replies, “possibly…police were on the scene quite quickly.” Then he qualifies this with, “quickly when they were advised that Gus was missing.”

I think that the three hour delay in reporting Gus missing was probably an early red flag for police.

It is a very interesting presser. Amazing what the AI could pick up.

yeah I agree the land and heat is so brutal there in summer, it really is cruel to put people through a wild goose chase, not to mention the other cruelty. I was hoping most of the searches and investigation were over before the heatwaves for that reason. I never believed he was just missing and its horrible to put others at risk to cover it up.

I think JM is involved because they’re the most aggressive of the two and the person who made a (perhaps false) statement about holding out hope for finding Gus. IMO

The police only told us that one of them is a suspect 4 months later - it’s possible that they’ve suspected them the entire time and the extensive search was to recover his body and cover their bases for reasonable doubt in the event they couldn’t. IMO

i think this is very possible, a friday night stayover and then leaving early to meet up josie in the paddock early morning, while little gus may have died and been disposed of that night, giving the grandparent/s time to concoct a story etc there must have been a great dislike between gus's father and josie for him to live elsewhere, i wonder if josie treated gus harshly?
