The person who harmed Gus likely had many hours to move his body in one of the seized vehicles. Gus could be a very long way from the homestead (maybe 50km+). My guess is the person who harmed him may have waited 4-6 hours before they reported him missing to allow time to cover up and clean up any evidence.

The perpetrator may also know some very good hiding spots in the middle of nowhere and similar to Peter Falconio, little Gus may never be found.

Angie Fuller has been missing for 3+ years, Jayden Penno-Tompsett was missing 8 years before recently being found, William Tyrrell still missing after 11+ years and the list goes on.

Finding Gus's remains will substantially strengthen the case against the "suspect" and I think Police will really want to find him before charging the culprit.

Tanja Ebert is still missing in the SA outback (for 8½ years).
Trisha Graf is recently missing in the SA outback (for about 9 weeks).

It is hard to find people in the vastness out there. Hoping they find Gus - and all the others.

Artificial Intelligence takes many forms in modern first world society. The fake imagery that we see too much of, IMO, is a form of AI that can create or distort images to attain the desired effect. I think of that as an 'artist's' technology tool.

But the form of AI used for real life searches of MPs (great examples in alpine environments recently) is what I believe the SAPOL applied to get the being count data they displayed at the presser.

In this example the Artificial Intelligence analytics has learned (been taught) how to distinguish aerial images of sheep vs. roo vs. cow vs. human, etc. and is thus able to be 'fed' imagery data from planes or drones or satellites to quickly determine what beings are on the ground within a defined area, as in this case. The value of course is speed and accuracy.

Now, the close up images of the sheep and motorcycle rider at the presser are just that. Once the AI analytical output says "there is a human here" then LE can zoom in to see what that human is. The pictures are real, but AI helped find them.

In alpine searches AI analytics have been developed to look for color anomalies in drone or flight images taken. The AI software analyzes images at a pixel level to look for a e.g. yellow hat or red pack. That has proven successful recently.

Anywho, likely more than you asked for. I am NOT an AI expert, but from my data analytics and technology design background I understand it superficially.

It is very important to note the background of Vincent and Clair. Vincent was born and raised in Tanunda. However Clair is from Nackara S.A. which is situated adjacent to the property we are discussing. There are deep seated issues here. Was Gus up to the challenge?

the kind that makes - generates - 'fake' photos is generative AI. But that's only one kind of AI. In this case they've used machine learning capabilities where the software/app has learned what is a kangaroo, what is a person, what is a tree, what is a sheep, what is a living creature, what is a deceased creature etc etc so it can count and analyse all that stuff without a human having to do it.

Hah...I'm good with generalities not technicalities most of the time and claim no special knowledge of AI. But seems to me artificial intelligence is used as a tool rather than a result in this situ.

As a tech layperson I'm just going on how it was explained in the presser. The way it was explained there Imo is that aerial photographs taken using special camera equipment were analysed and enhanced using AI. Jmo

Police photographically mapped from the air a wide area (up to 15km (?) radius from oak park homestead) over a period of two days (a weekend in mid-Oct, timeline escapes me). The photography from this special camera was sent to a specialist company that uses AI to enhance and analyse the photography (layperson language). The results of that (detailed images, one showing a human on motor bike) were presented to the public at presser. The police referred to this as the results of the widest aerial search conducted. That's all I know! Moo

Maybe I'll just add that the take away for me is that when detective points to an image and says that is a grey or red kangaroo, that is a person on a motor bike etc I believe him ( I am not questioning the results) and what I am being told is that on the dates the area was mapped using the special camera, those animals and the rider were there. It is a snapshot in time. Moo

Vincent and Clair are or were Shannon’s parents.

The property originally belonged to Clair’s family and on her death became the property of Vincent. From that point on, the property was managed by Shannon, Vincent and “Robert” aka Josie. Vincent died in 2015, at which point the family business was managed under Shannon and Josie’s names.

It was obvious to me due to many reasons, but mainly the hostile and aggressive behaviour of one of the grandparents.

In Australian culture this is not normal.

Have you lived in the outback regions? Hostile and aggressive are not that uncommon in outback folk, especially when being hassled at what is already an extremely stressful, worrying time. media, strangers and some particularly awful, judgemental social media comments would exacerbate and increase that hostility, especially if the gender identity of a particular person is focussed on with bigotry and assumptions being experienced because of it.

It has not been confirmed that the aerial drone photo of the person riding a motorbike is the tracker.

In an earlier post I observed that the motorbike is green, as is the motorbike the tracker was photographed using in news photos.

This may be a coincidence (green motorbikes are not unusual) or the tracker may have been using a bike belonging to the Murray’s or the drone photo may indeed have captured the tracker.

I think the photo was released as an example to demonstrate that the AI technology can accurately identify a human and differentiate humans from animals, living animals from carcasses etc.

Hope that clarifies things a bit.

To find Tanjas remains would be such a relief for her family but it is a decent distance from Oak Park. The police were convinced at the time that she was buried at Oulninna

If the adjoining Park is considered as a place in which Gus was hidden
then I'm a little pessimistic that the boy will be found.
It is déjà vu of Samantha M's situation
and never-ending, fruitless searches in all kinds of Parks.

Even on the property, Oak Park itself, it will be extremely difficult to find him. It's such a vast area to find a little boy

I've really flogged this topic to death previously, but here I go again.

It really worries me that so many people on this thread view the firearm incident as rational, innocent or justified. I truly hope the people that hold these views don't also hold gun licenses. IMO

Holding onto the gun while angrily confronting a journalist (instead of putting it away safely inside, calling police about trespass/nuisance, or simply closing the door) is disproportionate and irrational behaviour. IMO

The brief muzzle sweep across the direction of the journalist was extremely dangerous, unnecessary, and threatening. IMO

This incident tells me the grandparent responsible for this action lacks impulse control in high-emotion moments. IMO

Australian police and courts treat firearm displays in disputes very seriously due to the potential for escalation. Why they didn't act on this (that we know of, publicly) is strange to me, and perhaps tied to strategy. IMO

I certainly wouldn't want JM as my neighbour.
