Australia Australia - Ahmed Sayf Hamada (M39) Fortescue Bay/Hobart - 29 October 2024

  • #21
Hello, I’m a family friend of Ahmed and I know that he has two names (this is common in Arab and North African culture), but he mostly goes by Ahmed.
Whilst he likes nature and doing outdoor stuff, he is not a big fan of bushwalking or hiking, so it’s so baffling that he is missing in thick bush area.
Also, the Porsche he was driving is brand new and he is really careful about getting his things dirty or scratched. The place his Porsche was found is rural and barely suitable for a car like a Porsche.
Anyway, I want to help find Ahmed. I know the police are on the case currently but I have a feeling they will close it any time soon and write it off as a missing persons case. I don’t want to just accept that as an answer, we need to know what happened.

If anyone wants to ask me any questions about him, I’ll be happy to help. If anyone has theories about what is going on, feel free to comment them. I think we need to keep our options open, and with such uncanny cases such as these, anything is possible.

When you say, he had some problems, could this have been with gambling?

I had given up on the idea after losing faith in ever hearing from the police again, but will call them and reiterate my information, specifically to the actual officer handling the case and let you know asap what they tell me.

I do believe there's more to this than just a missing person who's chosen to disappear.
For a start, the night I believe I saw him, he was sitting in his car staring straight ahead and not moving, just blankly staring and deliberately taking no notice of me. Even doing this when I slowed right down in passing because I wondered what was going on. I thought it looked like he might be cataleptic or having a breakdown for medical episode. I definitely sensed some type of crisis.

Hi Brett, excuse delay in response as I have been waiting to be verified so I can respond to you. I have no doubt family and friends of Sayf will really appreciate you taking the time to post and consider this situation, let alone think and consider the unknowns and what if's in this case and the potential possibilities. Thank you for taking the time to again contact the crime stoppers in relation to this case, while not wishing to question how the case might be handled, from my personal experience to date I have felt a little concerned. Again, I am sure all his family and friends appreciate all and any information, thank you for your time and response. Do let us know how you go with contacting the police... Kindest Regards to you

Hi Brett, personally I did not know him to be a gambler when I knew him. But know he felt that something was going on with him, and he knew he needed to seek medical help. Also knew the wait list and clinics open to new patients was very limited where he was and very poor, extended wait lists.

Hello sleuthers; I know Fortescue Bay, in fact I may be visting there in the coming weeks. If people are interested, I can record the road in and surrounding areas to help people/family/friends understand the environment a bit more?

I note some friends/family coming into the thread. I have not seen much regarding Ahmed online, specifically about issues he may have had at the time of his disappearance.

That said, my questions which may help us better understand and potentially help include:
  • Was he experiencing any personal issues... health, financial, or relationship problems?
  • Did he keep diaries, notes, or communicate anything private to you before disappearing?
  • Does he have any outdoor skills or familiarity with specific remote areas (like Fortescue Bay)?

Hi Undiluted,
Thank you for posting. I believe this would require a response by multiple people who know Sayf, which has already been collated by the police (I would hope and assume). All I can say is that the area where Sayf's car was found was inland. Given I wish to protect the case, Sayf's family, their privacy I'm afraid I'm unable to give any further information on this thread personally. Hoping new information may come to light.
Thank you for your time in responding.

Kind of you to offer, however correct me if i'm wrong, but I believe the family may have already been informed, visited, researched, seen the area.

I think here on Websleuths, many of us would be interested in seeing @ShadowsTrail's video of the area.

Hello Everyone,

My name is Mahmoud Hussein, I know it has been a while since anyone has posted on this thread. I am with the father and brother of Ahmed Sayf now, we are staying at his old property in Carlton. Hello Mahmoud, and Welcome to Websleuths. We do wish you were here under different circumstances.

I am sorry that we had to remove your personal contact information, but it is our policy not to allow it due to the potential for scammers and other unsavory types to contact family members and cause upset. Our Websleuths members can always contact you via our direct messaging system.

As you are a friend of the family who has the potential to share inside information, please review Websleuths' policy on becoming verified.

An explanation on why we have the verification policy and instructions on how to apply can be found HERE. It is a quick and easy process, and we do hope you will apply so you can post whatever information you may have without having to provide links to what you state as fact.

Please convey our very heartfelt thoughts to Ahmed's father and brother, and our shared hope that someone can shed light on what caused Ahmed to disappear and where he may be.

Sincerely,

Sillybilly

Hi all, i have a short video of the drive from the highway to the bay. i think its about 10km in total. Theres a few turn offs but they are mostly for logging or council work, not residential or a way to another lookout etc. if theres specific detail about where thr car was located, if can easily go back and do a better check.

Thanks @ShadowsTrail

It has given me a better idea of the area.

In my minds eye I didn't see that it was all forest.

A video makes it all clearer.

Here are 2 more. One from the jetty at the end of the road. To get there you need to go past the camp ground and day-use area. Rangers cabin is off the road and bit.
2nd one is the beginning of the walk to Cape Huay. Its a popular walk, but can also be quiet.

Thank you so much for recording this and posting this Shadowtrails. Yes, thank you for noting that there are some roads which branch off along the main route into Fortescue Bay and aren't the national park but belong to Forestry Tasmania. I think many may assume that the bay has rugged cliff edges, but this isn't all the area, again Sayf's last known location was inland, the area itself was very dense.

You are very welcome, its the least I could do. Is there any information about how far inland or coordinates? Msg me private if wish. For your information, I have a degree in Criminology, and an interest to help, as I myself had a friend go missing and know what its like.

It was also wierd because his car had stopped a fair way back from the line (entering a roundabout) and I wondered why and if maybe the driver was high or drunk and might suddenly drive out erratically and hit me? This is also one of the reasons why I slowed right down and thereby got a really good view of his face, recognising I'd seen him before entering the supermarket in my neighborhood and earlier once I thought I saw him at the casino playing roulette.

Later I thought about it and realised, had there been an unseen another inside of that car with a knife or gun and lying down on the back seat making threats and demands, that they would previously have been able to see my headlights approaching from around the bend a hundred metres or so away and, as I believe there are cameras located at that roundabout, this passenger may have spotted me approaching and told the driver to stop the car, laid down and concealed themselves until I'd passed.

All this occurred at around 12.30 am on the night of the 29th October which was the also the same day his car was discovered abandoned in the Fortescue Bay area over 100km away.
Hi Brett, I have previously sent you an email to contact Mahmoud here on Websleuths, this was last month. I also have tried to follow up with you and see how you have gone with contacting police. I am yet to hear anything from you in response, could you please respond on this thread? How did you go contacting the police? Given the case itself, your comments on what you 'think' you might have seen, it's rather important you respond. Thanks again for your time and help. Sincere thanks and regards
