And now he was trying to be a hero.

So Alexis allowed him to stay with her at a local park, until the harassing man left. But Alexis would not let him walk her home .. where she could truly be safe. She wanted to be left alone in a park late at night after a scary incident with no charge left on her phone.

He said she was “happy” when he last saw Ms Jeffery, 24, but she declined his offer to walk her home.

A BULL-RIDING pig hunter has denied killing Goondiwindi mother Alexis Jeffery and says ill-founded rumours about his involvement in her death have ruined his life.

He said the owner of a farm, where he was working as a labourer, asked him to leave.

He said the investigation had led to him being kicked off the property on which he was living, prompting a move to the Townsville area.

The release of the CCTV footage pre-empted the breakdown of his relationship.

"It has ruined me.

"I have lost my girlfriend over all of this. We were engaged."

He said potential employers were holding off giving him a job until his name was cleared.

"Everyone down there is pointing the finger at me, but I believe someone knows more than they are letting on.

Police have also released an image of boots made out of wetsuit material, known as irrigation boots, and say any information about them could help solve the case.

They believe the boots may have been thrown away after the murder.

Mr Trebeck said he did not know if anyone was wearing boots of similar appearance on the night and said he did not own a pair.

POLICE are trying to track down a pair of reef-style boots they suspect might have been thrown away in Goondiwindi around the time Alexis Jeffery was murdered two months ago.

Detective Superintendent David Isherwood said a “person of interest” had worn the grey and black boots in the southern Queensland border town on the night, and police were now appealing for help to find them.

“The person no longer has those shoes and has given a version of events. As a result, we’re trying to locate those shoes,” he told The Courier-Mail.

I lightened the photo on the right to get a better look at the soles of the boots. They have a very distinctive tread.

So, if police want witnesses who may have seen Robert Trebeck and/or Alexis between 2-3:30am ….... I wonder what the initial reports about Alexis walking alone or with a group of people between 3:30-5am is/was about.

So, Trebeck's angry at being named and identified in MSM - but I doubt LE take that step lightly.

And as we've seen with the Sophie Collombet case - it really does help when LE open it up to the public. I think that's why QLD police have had such a good strike rate with alot of these murders lately - they take it to the public, rather than keeping everything quiet. JMO.

Instead, she is there when he goes to sleep, looking down on him from a heart-shaped collage of photos hung above his bed.

Alexis Jeffery, 24, was found murdered on the banks of the Macintyre River at Goondiwindi on March 16, about 500m from her home.

Her former partner Jade Crotty said their three boys – aged one to four – were too young to fully comprehend, although were managing “fine at the moment”.
