He said she was “happy” when he last saw Ms Jeffery, 24, but she declined his offer to walk her home.
A BULL-RIDING pig hunter has denied killing Goondiwindi mother Alexis Jeffery and says ill-founded rumours about his involvement in her death have ruined his life.
http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/...es-he-killed-her/story-fnihsrf2-1226932259251He said the owner of a farm, where he was working as a labourer, asked him to leave.
He said the investigation had led to him being kicked off the property on which he was living, prompting a move to the Townsville area.
The release of the CCTV footage pre-empted the breakdown of his relationship.
"It has ruined me.
"I have lost my girlfriend over all of this. We were engaged."
He said potential employers were holding off giving him a job until his name was cleared.
"Everyone down there is pointing the finger at me, but I believe someone knows more than they are letting on.

A family member of farm labourer Robert Trebeck said her relative was angry that he had been identified as the person filmed on CCTV walking hand-in-hand with Ms Jeffery in the early hours of March 16.
We were going to catch up. We were going to go pigging, Mr Trebeck told The Courier-Mail. We were talking about our kids. Ive got kids, shes got kids.
No one was there at that time when we were talking about our kids. Thats our private stuff.
So they know who he is - I wonder where the irrigation boots fit into the story.

Police have also released an image of boots made out of wetsuit material, known as irrigation boots, and say any information about them could help solve the case.
They believe the boots may have been thrown away after the murder.
Mr Trebeck said he did not know if anyone was wearing boots of similar appearance on the night and said he did not own a pair.

POLICE are trying to track down a pair of reef-style boots they suspect might have been thrown away in Goondiwindi around the time Alexis Jeffery was murdered two months ago.
Detective Superintendent David Isherwood said a person of interest had worn the grey and black boots in the southern Queensland border town on the night, and police were now appealing for help to find them.
The person no longer has those shoes and has given a version of events. As a result, were trying to locate those shoes, he told The Courier-Mail.
So, if police want witnesses who may have seen Robert Trebeck and/or Alexis between 2-3:30am ….... I wonder what the initial reports about Alexis walking alone or with a group of people between 3:30-5am is/was about.
"Police have called for anyone who saw the pair between 2am and 3.30am on March 16 to come forward."

"It is believed that Ms Jeffery may have been walking either alone or with a group of people from the Goondiwindi CBD towards the Cultural Centre on Russell and Albert streets between 3.30am – 5am on Sunday March 16."

IT HAS been more than 70 days since Dawson was tucked into bed by his mum, who would pull the covers tight and kiss him goodnight.
Now that job has been left to his father, who has had to tell the four-year-old that his mummy is gone.
Instead, she is there when he goes to sleep, looking down on him from a heart-shaped collage of photos hung above his bed.
Alexis Jeffery, 24, was found murdered on the banks of the Macintyre River at Goondiwindi on March 16, about 500m from her home.
Her former partner Jade Crotty said their three boys aged one to four were too young to fully comprehend, although were managing fine at the moment.
