GUILTY Australia - Alexis Jeffery, 24, murdered, Goondiwindi, Qld, 16 March 2014

That's so heartbreaking :(
I really hope that there is an arrest soon!

I wonder where her boys were that night? In the article it said 'her partner' but then that she was planning to leave with her boys for a better life - that didn't sound like she was in a relationship with him at the time of her death.
I not, what were the custody arrangements? Was he OK with her leaving town with his sons?

It actually says 'former' partner, but yes I can't imagine he would be happy with her taking them away.

Her former partner Jade Crotty said their three boys – aged one to four – were too young to fully comprehend, although were managing “fine at the moment”.

The Courier-Mail can reveal Daniel Rowsell, a former Australian and Pan-Asian cruiserweight champion, approached the mother-of-three outside the Queensland Hotel on March 16.

“I thought I’d chat her up,” Mr Rowsell, 41, told The Courier-Mail.

Good find, Scrambled Eggs :seeya:

I find this bit highly suspicious (bbm). I think it's unlikely that a guy who's after the same girl would just give his rival a lift to keep pursuing her. (Especially someone who's into competitive boxing - I assume they'd want to 'win'......)

Mr Rowsell said he took a group of men to a nearby party before returning 10 to 15 minutes later and again asking if the mother-of-three wanted a lift.

He said she was sitting on stairs at the ANZ bank with Robert Trebeck, 33, a farm labourer in the area.

“I was being a bit arrogant and pulled $20 from my pocket and dropped it in her lap and said ‘here get a cab’,” Mr Rowsell said.

“He (Robert) walked back over to the car and says ‘mate she’s really hard to get, I’ve been tuning her on Facebook for the last couple of weeks’.”

As Mr Trebeck spoke to him through his car window he said Ms Jeffery began to walk up the street, which prompted Mr Rowsell to drive Mr Trebeck up the road to catch up with her.

We need to see Mr Trebeck's version of those events.

Regardless, what a pain in the ar$e these two are .. the sexism in the above comments is completely revolting .. as if she owed him one after he spent two weeks tuning her up, did it occur to him that she wasn't interested? She probably doesn't have that right in his mind.

Main red flags, telling her it wasn't safe for her to walk home alone, and the comment about tuning her up on Facebook, and her being 'really hard to get' .. vomit.

Yeah... this all seems really "off".

The boxer guy approaches the victim - not once, but THREE times, and is turned down three times.

"Mr Rowsell said he warned her the streets were not safe but she was adamant she wanted to be on her own."

But then.. she wasn't. Bet that annoyed him .

In fact, it must have --- he then throws money at the victim, telling her to get a cab. He admits to being a "bit arrogant" at her. Yeah, well. I see that as act of aggression, a way of feeling he controls the situation anyway.

I'm sure there's a lot of boxers who aren't like that? But the ones I've known (and there's several!) are pretty much... like that. Testosterone out the ears, and they don't like to hear "no".

So Alexis presumably gets sick of both of them, and walks off, clearly annoyed (oh I know those arm gestures too, that's a pee'd off woman right there) probably about how they're speaking about her like a piece of damned MEAT.

And then the boxer kindly drives his rival up the road so he can make it up to her. Riiiight.

I hope police are looking very, very hard at BOTH these men.

Wow. What effing revolting men. Grrrr. I dread to think what conversation took place in the car between those two. Seriously gives me knots in the stomach. Where have I heard that line about it not being safe to be out? Jill Meagher I think.

6.15am

A pig-hunting bull-rider has denied kissing a Goondiwindi woman hours before her death despite reports from boxing champion Daniel Rowsell.

Robert Trebeck, 33, has been declared a person of interest in Alexis Jeffery’s murder investigation.

He was allegedly seen by Mr Rowsell kissing the mother-of-three in a park but has denied this. “He’s full of sh--”, the farm labourer said of Mr Rowsell.

I'll see if I can get the full story ..

A PIG-HUNTING bull-rider declared a “person of interest” in Alexis Jeffery’s murder investigation has denied kissing the Goondiwindi mother-of-three in the hours before her death and says police would lock him up if had done anything wrong.

Robert Trebeck, 33, has disputed boxing champion Daniel Rowsell’s account in which he claimed he saw Ms Jeffery and Mr Trebeck kissing in a park in the early hours of March 16.

“No I didn’t (kiss her),” Mr Trebeck, a farm labourer, told The Courier-Mail. “ “Why would I be interested in her when I’ve got me own girlfriend. He’s full of sh--. Yeah, I was there. If I had any involvement, the police would lock me up, would they not?”

“No I didn’t (kiss her),” Mr Trebeck, a farm labourer, told The Courier-Mail. “ “Why would I be interested in her when I’ve got me own girlfriend.

Very at-odds with what Rowsell told police, about Trebeck trying to "tune" her on Facebook...

Which would be verifiable, no? If he wasn't trying to do that, then it'll be clear Rowsell is lying, throwing Trebeck under a bus and that's a *great* reason to hone in on Rowsell as a possible perp.

And if Trebeck is lying, and was indeed chatting her up on FB for weeks, it may point to motive.

As for Trebeck, we are asked to assume he was grabbing her hand and touching her arse as a gesture of protective concern.

One of them's lying. Actually, I think both are. At this point, I can't really say which I think is the more likely to have to killed Alexis...

But I'd lay a bet on it that one of them did.

Darling Downs District Crime Group officer Detective Acting Inspector Paul Hart said police were satisfied their investigation was moving in the right direction.

He confirmed police had previously spoken with Mr Rowsell as a part of the investigation.

"Local detectives are still actively engaged with the Homicide Investigation Unit and a number of avenues of inquiry continue to be explored," Det. Act. Insp. Hart said.

"In recent weeks there has been significant progress in terms of the forensic results we are receiving back.

"We are confident that we are heading towards a positive result."

I'm pretty certain Trebeck admitted previously that he'd been chatting to her on FB.

I'd imagine that once they have COD confirmed it would clarify things a little more. When you compare the 2 men... One would think a boxer would end the life of someone in a different way to a farm hand who hunts pigs for a hobby. MOO

Oh and I believe the police know the answers, they've just got to cross t's and dot i's

BBM. Yes, that's correct Humdinger.
Mr Trebeck said his encounter with Ms Jeffery was the first time he met the 24-year-old but had spoken to her on social networking site Facebook and over the phone.

It sounds like both men were involved and the DNA might have finally come back from testing? It will be interesting to see who gets arrested...sounds like a pair of pigs who were upset that they were rejected and "punished" her by attacking her in the park.
