I have a bad habit of posting off topic and I promise this will be my last offence, but people whine abouit the cost of living and then spend that kind of money on something as vulgar as personalised number plates for their car?

I bought my hubby p plates for his birthday and I picked a special word that meant a lot to him so he was thrilled. God help me if he bought me a set, I could only imagine some of the names he would come up lolol.

WI - I think that we are using different dictionaries.

My online dictionary says:

blas·phe·my/ˈblasfəmē/

Noun:

The act or offense of speaking sacrilegiously about God or sacred things; profane talk.

It's too off-topic for this thread, but just quickly, you have to look at the derivation of the word when you're looking at any old texts (including things like the scriptures of different faiths) to get what the meaning is from the original root word, rather than the modern word use. We don't use words in the same way throughout the centuries, and the meanings of words evolve and expand. http://ezinearticles.com/?-Etymology--How-Words-Change-Over-Time&id=12709

Cheers

I think that the journalists are each doing their best with the limited information that they have or that they are able to publish. In my opinion the possibility of some errors in detail over time is probably inevitable with the dynamic nature of journalism. Information is always changing. The journalist has to present the best info that they have at the time, and in this case they are reporting an unfolding story. It is not their job to solve the crime........but their job to report the unfolding story in such a way that protects and supports the police investigation and respects all party's involved.

In our desire to get "justice for Allison", are we expecting too much of the journalists in their reporting? Personally, I see that reporting an ongoing, unsolved murder investigation that is still so recent is a very different task to in depth investigative journalism of a current affair topic or an issue like the governments response to asylum seekers, Afghanistan, the stolen generation, or the outcome of a completed court case for a serious crime.

Maybe we all need patience.

I have not criticised the journalism on this story, not even once. Thinking that there are some people in this forum, that may know more information on the story, is reasonably so, since some are locals (and seem to know alot).....and some are equally as savvy in their abilities......Moreso a compliment of the good people in this forum. Not a criticism on my part of any "official" journalists on the case.

Would really like meet there when someone is finally held accountable. Until then I think Allison deserves sunflowers every Saturday...just to remind everyone we all still think of her.
Wonder if we could set up an some kind of banking system and deposit a small amount each weekly to help you with this plan? B-pay?

I agree completely :)

Im sure some clever people in this forum could give some journo's a run for their money, in the finding out information department.

An Angaise, per favore?

Oops sorry Clara. I did not explain myself very well at all there.... :blushing: I feel that "some of the local can give us more in the information department"...Meaning some people may have more been able to provide us more information, than those on the case.

Doesnt mean I am putting those on the case down....Just means that some people here seem a bit more informative....I wasnt clear though. My apologies

Thats nice of you.

Hubby said when they make an arrest he will drive me over to the locations and take flowers. I wont drive that far, I only stick to driving areas I know lol.

Hey Nads , I think that was a good idea . I don't know about everyone else but most of my friends don't want to hear about my theories or what I've read . So having this forum has been a wonderful way to discuss this case that is close to my heart. I think when the case is solved , we'll find that some of our theories were spot on. Actually I'm thinking of going to check out all the relevant places . So Nads it wasn't a bad idea to meet up . Let's hope for an arrest soon & maybe we'll have a few drinks !!!!!

Was there definitely an AA meeting at the church next door on that Thursday night ??

I don't know Elspeth but it was scheduled from 7.30 - 10pm. Been thinking about the dry wedding and why? Perhaps one of the parents has a major addiction to alcohol and Allison and Gerard decided best not to serve as they did not want their special day ruined. Could NBC (or EBC) be a regular at AA meetings? IF so, maybe he (or she) saw that the lights were on next door and popped in for a late evening visit?

I just read the post that apparently there was an AA meeting at the church??? on Thursday?? is this fact? I doubt anyone from the area would attend as it would be impossible to be anonymous

Hi, just to clarify: if the meeting actually did happen (and I don't know it did), it was for Al-Anon (family and friends of alcoholics) not AA. The church calendar lists it as a regular Thursday night event to be held in the Brookfield church's hall, which is right beside Allison's house, not her in-laws' place. There are links to the calendar and a Google Satellite view in [ame="http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showpost.php?p=7993831&postcount=302"]this post from yesterday[/ame] if you're interested.

I agree. Im in Melbourne and the people that I know are disinterested and my hubby who normally discusses such things with me, has more on his platter, so my Allison discussion just doesnt cut it for him, when he is hearing alot about crime all shift. I spoke to one of his friends who is a detective and he seemed disinterested too. It was a good idea by Nads....and it was a great idea for flowers from possumheart...and was great for spratsmum and Indromum to go on the looksee for us (even though I do worry for their safety when they do so) and for INdromum to give the sunflowers.

Thank you for thinking of this.. I buy my flowers at the markets quite cheaply. Really no problem to continue this on a weekly basis...

Are Allison's chiden currently spending any time with Allison's parents?

I haven't heard anything about this lately. In the article about Allison's brother I recall that he said he hadn't seen much of the girls. Do any locals know how the girls are going and if they have been spending time with the Dickies?

If you were to employ someone to kill your wife for you then surely you would make damn sure you had a cast iron alibi at the time the killing took place.

Also in Australia the idea of a "hitman" as some shrewd cold blooded killer is more myth than reality. Most people who do this kind of thing are drug addicted low rent thugs who will do anything for money, and are usually paid to kill other lowlife drug addicted thugs.I doubt GBC moved in these kind of circles.

Oh for goodness sakes, can someone take a drive over there and back me up? Lol

Drove passed tonight about 5-30pm and saw the white 4wd in the driveway. First time I have seen since they were removed.

i'm curious to know which direction it was parked in. was it on the driveway facing the road, or parked in the carport - reversed in?

Dont forget Andrew Kalazich of Manly- he was well-connected and involved in Chamber of Commerce etc. He hired a hitman to kill his wife.
