Okay, so she was found NEAR the tunnel but IN the creek (bbm):

A woman appeared agitated and concerned as she left the foyer of a Sydney unit block just 12 hours before her body was found in a Sydney creek on Wednesday morning.

Homicide detectives and local police are trying to establish whether Amesha Rajapakse's death is suspicious after the 31-year-old's body was found in water behind a set of Westmead unit blocks.

Sounds like Amesha was either hiding .. or hidden. I wonder how she died, seems there were no obvious indicators.

I'm wondering if she drowned / was drowned........

I'm wondering if she drowned / was drowned........

Yes, that is the first thing that comes to mind, isn't it? They are having a lot of rain in NSW - is this area affected?

But what the heck was she doing back there near a dirty creek and the railway tracks anyway?!

I don't think the tree line is a creek. The closest creek to those apartments is near Brian's rd I think.
But that isn't near the train line.

There is Domain Creek - which is 'behind' the apartment complex and near the railway line, passes under it. I wonder if that is the creek. Google says it is a 15min walk or 3min drive from the apartments - a little over a km away.

Okay, so domain creek goes into parramatta park, which locks down at about 6 or 7 pm. If it is domain creek if she walked past westmead station there might be footage from there.

On second look maybe finlaysons creek looks more likely.

Yes and it looks like a canal. It has been rainy here lately so it would be quite full. Parramatta river is very full at the moment.

He said police were knocking on almost every door of the 500-unit block, and half a dozen detectives and more than 20 uniformed officers remained at the scene at 6pm.

Interesting article Oddsocks ... thanks for finding that. :seeya: Some good family photos too. No pics of Amesha yet though.

These points are really interesting to me.

According to the building *manager, Ms Rajapakse left the complex at 7.30pm on Tuesday.

She was seen on CCTV nervously pacing up and down a corridor and was also seen jamming the lock of the apartment complex with a scarf before heading outside. “All I can take from that is she didn’t have her access card,” the staff member said. It is not known if it was the same scarf found around her neck.

Ms Rajapakse, her husband and other family members are believed to have lived at the unit block for only a few months and are not listed as the unit’s occupants.

“She was the nicest, most laid-back person ever,” the staff member said. “She didn’t seem to have a worry in the world.”

After heavy rain the creek was running high and police working on the scene were up to their waists in water.

So Amesha wasn't married at all. She lived with her brother and father:

THE brother who found his younger sister Amesha Rajapakse drowned in a Western Sydney creek just metres from their home said she was the “cleverest” person he knew.

Still unable to comprehend how the 31-year-old died sometime on Tuesday night, Sahan Rajapakse said his sister had gone out to buy food around 7.30pm but never returned.

The pair lived at the Absolute Waterfront Apartments Monarco Westmead with their father.

......Ms Rajapakse arrived from Sri Lanka in 2009 and was an IT graduate.

The Sinhalese Buddhist was not married.

I'm struck by her being seen pacing and nervous before she disappeared.

Maybe she was secretly meeting someone and just saying to her family that she was going to buy food as a cover. If that's the case, I hope there are friends of hers out there who know who the person is.

I really hope she wasn't a victim of some random nutter who somehow abducted her and took her to the creek area.

Not that it's any better if someone she knew took her life, but it means that other women are more likely to be safe if it wasn't random.
