I grew up in this area .. very sleepy town, but lots of dark undertones in the area too, plenty of ex crims in them thar hills.... personally I am getting a 'bikie connection' vibe off this one, and noticed that one of the pictures from the media of the father appears to be a mug shot.

Also what kind of bike is this? (Pic from the backyard of their home the day after the murders.)

Wonder if this one is connected to some old wounds. Killer or killers knew them IMO.

Hmmmmmmmmm certainly does look like a mug shot ........ where did you find this pic?

There is more information on this shocking crime here:

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/...ramp-up-security/story-e6frea83-1225953465631

It includes this:POLICE are closing in on the Rowe family's killer, revealing they have DNA evidence of an unknown male at the scene of the crime.
They have also revealed a Toyota LandCruiser with two men inside was seen outside the family's Harriet St, Kapunda, home an hour before Andrew, Rose and Chantelle Rowe were killed early last Monday morning.
Major Crime Detective Superintendent Grant Moyle said yesterday police wanted to speak to two occupants of a white traytop ute, believed to be a 1999 HZJ 75RP model.
The Rowes were repeatedly stabbed.
The male's DNA profile could not be matched on the national database.

Sorry, I was a tad slow with my info.......it was already here.

It is only a matter of time before the perpetrator is arrested.

"The Advertiser has also learned that Chantelle, 16, had changed schools in each of her three years at high school. She dropped out of Year 10 at Gawler High School this year." "She said she had difficulties with teachers," the business owner said. http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/...ramp-up-security/story-e6frea83-1225953465631

She wasn't even going to school? This piece of information helps back up what I've been saying how it likely wasn't a youth who did this, as she hasn't had much contact with other teenagers.

Then again, she did hold a party on the Saturday night. It could have been one of the people who attended, maybe a guy who fancied her, but learned she had a boyfriend. But I still think it was an older person who committed the attack.

Good points indizio.
There appears to be a massive amount of hate in this crime.
What on earth was the trigger for such violence?

The crime scene must have been dreadful judging by the reactions of the first police on the scene.

  • Police seeking occupants of Toyota Landcruiser
  • DNA testing men associated with murdered trio
  • Not ruling out DNA testing entire town

POLICE won't rule out testing town's 3000 residents after DNA of unknown man found at scene.

Yes, apparently Chantelle was stabbed in the range of 30-50 times, whereas the parents were not victimised as much.
This is why it is believed the target was Chantelle.

I got that one from the front page of the http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/ page over the weekend, I just went through the gallery and is it not there anymore, but you can still see the 'AdelaideNow' branding around the pic.

Looks more to me like it's a photo taken somewhere inside their house, not a mug shot.

Why are the cops looking at the landfill? Why are they searching water? I think it is possible that the 16 year old got stabbed more because she was the one who fought the hardest which pissed off that suspect.

I also noticed how close the houses are. For a neighbor not to call the police is just unthinkable to me.

I wish the police didn't announce about the bloody footprints now the perp will surely destroy those shoes!

The message to her job that she won't be at work the next day is probably from the perp. Maybe she had that number listed as "work" so the perp wanted more time before the bodies were found. Unless of course that text was made early in the day before the crime happened. *shrug*

I'm sure they will find whomever did it.

They are searching for the knife and or other evidence such as bloody clothing. Killer may have tossed stuff in the water or into a garbage bin.

I think the message about being sick came many hours before the murders.

I agree she may have been stabbed more times because she fought the hardest, but think the text to work is unrelated. She may just have been less than keen to go. I think they will solve this one too. Someone they knew well IMO.

Has the order of the killings been disclosed? Or the exact areas of the home they were found? I'm guessing not if I'm asking this. I wish they would disclose this info... although I guess it shouldn't matter to the public.. but we are WEBSLEUTHS! We wanna know this stuff.

The cops are searching landfill in case the perp threw out the bloodied clothes, and searching nearby water in case the perp threw the weapon in there.

I also noticed how close the houses are. For a neighbor not to call the police is just unthinkable to me.

The neighbour apparently thought it was a domestic disturbance, which for some reason made him NOT call police? WTF! If I heard screams I would definitely call police. Whether it was a domestic disturbance or a murder.

The SMS to her boss was dated at 12:00am the night of their murder.

I read on her facebook status that she was sick with croop, and that she was going to bed.

Her boyfriend and her exchanged goodnight messages through comments to that status. This was around 11:00ish - 12:00ish if I remember correctly (her Facebook account has been deleted, so I can't go check). So she was actually sick, and SMSed her boss herself. It wasn't the perp.

Mrs G Norris said:

This is also a possibility, but until we know the order of the killings, we can only speculate why she was stabbed the most.

  • The parents may have been killed first, and the mother's screams may have alerted Chantelle to an intruder. This may have given her an opportunity to put up a fight, angering the intruder, and causing the intruder to be more brutal with her.
  • Another possibility is that the murderer knew Chantelle, and greatly disliked her. This could mean it was targeted.

DETECTIVES investigating the murders of Kapunda's Rowe family have revealed they are following several "positive lines of inquiry" in the hunt for the killer.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday, police appealed for public help in identifying a white tray top Toyota Landcruiser 4WD utility, believed to be a 1999 HZJ 75RP model, seen in the vicinity of the Harriet St house at the time of the murders.

Det Supt Moyle said they still needed help tracking down the vehicle.

"We have received six calls to Crime Stoppers in regards to the 4WD and a number of other calls to police stations that are being followed up," he said.

See Page 1 for a picture of the suspected type of Utility vehicle, I posted two images there.

I believe it was a targeted murder but am on the fence as to whether the target was Chantelle or her father....I think either one likely. I don't believe this was a home invasion or robbery, but distinctly personal in nature. The fact that there were possibly two men who arrived at the house (and three victims does suggest more than one killer) points to some kind of affiliation between the two in my mind.

If Chantelle was the focus, then the two would be younger and bonded by family or close relationship.

If the father was the focus then the two would be slightly older and bonded by club or some other kind of nefarious activity.

JMO, of course...we need more details. I worry about S.A. police working this one, I hope they're pulling in outside resources, I hope they're using top notch profilers too.

Pretty much this ^
We don't know if the Harley Davison links the father to any clubs, or if he's had any run ins with members of clubs. And the daughter seems to have an active social life (throwing a party while the parents weren't home Saturday!) so it could be a number of age groups who may have committed this homicide, but I still believe that it was probably Chantelle who was the target. The father has not been mentioned to have any criminal history, surely the media would have jumped right on that if it were the case. I believe his Harley Davison would have been simply a thrill of a friendly man going through a mid-life crisis.

I live in S.A., and murders are not something that you hear on the news very often here. Our police force better be calling in external resources, as you wrote.
I fear that South Australian police are very inexperienced in dealing with homicides.

No we don't know if he was linked to any clubs, but I am holding onto the idea as a possibility. And yes many people ride Harley's, of course, but they are also the bike of choice for club participants, and he may have had connections also, without being an actual member wearing a patch.

And yes the daughter seems to have had an active social life, but she was extremely young..I just can't imagine a young girl like that attracting such anger from such obviously dangerous people, but then I am not a psychopath either, so it's out of my experience, and she wouldn't be the first of course, but for them to take out the parents too, well that's different.

And yes murders are rare in S.A. aren't they, but when they do happen there they really take the cake!!

I agree indizio, top flight homicide investigators are needed for crimes such as this.
The clock is ticking and the days are slipping by.

However, the big plus is the DNA evidence they have.
The detectives more than likely have a suspect too.

Like everyone else I keep asking why? Why is a family killed in such a brutal manner?
The crime is so evil it is beyond comprehension.
