Orly!

Why would you say that. No need.

Because I read it on her profile on the night that she posted it, and there was no other status updates from her (or the killer pretending to be her).

There were comments on that status though. Chantelle and her boyfriend, Dylan Pratt, exchanged goodnight messages.

I was replying to "I am sorry, but someone wrote on a page that that was the last status update on her facebook account....I think it's curious...IF TRUE!! Can't really take 2nd hand info on FB as verbatim I guess....."

I was telling you guys what her last status update actually was in case people had heard otherwise.

The killer didn't update Chantelle's status before leaving the house.

OK thanks....as stated I got that from a FB page so I don't know where THAT poster saw it or why he / she posted it....

There is a saying:

'if you believe everything you read you may as well eat everything you see.'

So keeping this in mind, how much information conveyed through the various media forms is fact?

I have a hunch there is more water to run under the bridge in this case.

I'm also wondering just what we can post considering this case is 'before the courts.'
I realise this excellent site is hosted in the USA.

Just don't go pointing fingers at who you think is involved, and all should be fine. I think we've all heard rumours by now what the "18 year old male's" name is, and many other details such as who he is in photographs with, but just steer clear of posting that until the courts actually release that information to the general public.

Here are the only official images we have of the man in custody.
It is the back of his head, but if you have seen the rumours of who it might be, you might notice similar features.
He is wearing a beanie. Sorry for the poor quality, taken from video here:

Looks better on the television.

{mod edit} I am not sure if he will publish the name or not....we'll see. My guess not, he was in trouble for naming Carl Williams killer a few months ago.

Would there be a video of that news segment online anywhere?

  • #132
ive been searching for it...havent found it yet....it was aired by ten in brisbane

  • #133
I would have thought if his name was suppressed in SA only there would be no point in suppressing it all.

The name must surely come out next week. Quite frankly I don't understand the need for secrecy.

mystery think of when underbelly aired in melbourne the rest of australia could watch it but melbourne...i would think supressing his name in S.A is practically the same thing.

i dont think anyone at kapunda will say his name because they believe it will severley ruin the chances of the trial

Ahh, just saw the news that they caught the alleged perp! Excellent!

I see they have different rules in Australia with regard to case info they can reveal. I know, we as Websleuthers want to know it all, but I respect the reason they don't want the public to know too much.

This is going to be difficult to wait for the details until the court case. I hope the victim's family stays strong through, what is going to be the most difficult period of their life, waiting until and going through the trial of this horrible crime.

The one person I feel most compassion for is the young son left behind. Just imagine how you'd feel knowing while you were away, everyone in your immediate family is massacred in your own home?

Condolence to the friends and entire family. May justice be served!

The Advertiser newspaper today published basically this:

"There were appeals against the suppression of the accused's name in court, claiming that his name is already posted on so many pages on Facebook that suppressing it is kind of pointless"

The barrister replied with "Better to be cautious." and ordered the suppression of his name.

Looks like everyone who's been spreading rumours of the name has been correct with those rumours.

Friends with her though....what was the exact nature of his friendship with Chantelle do you know? I thought ex-bf is that correct?
