Shane Arthur Simpson, 51, was originally charged with murder but today pleaded guilty to the lesser offence of manslaughter after a new indictment was presented to the Supreme Court in Brisbane.

The child's mother, Dina Colleen Bond, 45, pleaded guilty to accessory to manslaughter . . . .

. . . .

The prosecution said the toddler's parents referred to him as the "devil's child" and "evil" and moved to New South Wales a few months after they deliberately left the child at the boat ramp.

"[Simpson] told police what he did was not murder. He left him somewhere," Mr Boyle said.

"No-one wanted Baden and he was tired of responsibility."

. . . .

Mr Boyle said Simpson also told police: "I've had to live with this for 10 years.

"It's like he knew I was going to leave him there.

"The look in his eyes, I still see the look in his eyes."

'Sorry': Father says he patted toddler on the head then abandoned him without looking back

‘No one wanted Baden [...]’

Heartbreaking.

People struggle to have children yet we have jerks like these.
Couldn't they take this poor little toddler, anywhere that he would be 'looked after'.
This thread will be too heartbreaking to follow.
I just hope Justice will be served, and cannot 'check here' later.

Yeah. Notice that the father tries to make himself out a victim. How sad that he's had to live for ten years knowing his child was . . . manslaughtered . . . by him.

I'm not sure I believe the abandonment story as it stands. Meth-affected parent/s who believed their child was evil . . . who knows what else they did?
