No I haven’t got a subscription. There certainly are a lot of twists and turns to Bronwyn’s story. Episode 13 is fascinating.
Listening to 13 right now. About 40 minutes in and yes, some interesting stuff in there.

At least we now know they don't ever plan on releasing 11 and 12 to the unwashed.

Yes I’m a little miffed about being shut out of their positing but we can live without it eh Cliff. There is so much to absorb from all that has been exhaustively researched, and probably more to come. I really appreciate the work which has gone into the podcast and hope some concrete justice eventuates for Bronwyn.

If only every cold case/missing person had a team of journalists and forensic specialists…

In the meantime there are websleuthers.

‘Serial killer’ theory splits mum’s family

The family of missing mother Bronwyn Winfield is bitterly divided over her case being included in a list of 67 unsolved murders and disappearances of women on the NSW north coast that a politician has attempted to link to a serial killer.'

I wonder if part of what is in the two missing episodes are going to be a big part of a book.
That is one reason I can think of for not releasing it to everyone.

Maybe? But there seems to be a concerted push by some podcasters, The Australian included, to 'educate' the public into accepting podcasts should be pay-to-listen.

It looks a bit like The Australian has had a rethink after cutting us off at Episode 10 of 'Bronwyn'. Perhaps they are dangling some more bait by making Episode 13 available? See if they can hook a few more subscribers?

Episode 17…omg

So many people must have harboured suspicions about JW. I can only echo others who wonder how the NSW police have mishandled yet another missing person in the Northern Rivers. Not a good look.

Have lost count of the number of John Winfield red flags. No, they don't make him guilty of murder but they do raise enormous suspicion and justify him being the main and it seems only suspect.

Can only be thankful we weren't missing persons 20,30, 40 years ago because the police investigations left a lot to be desired.

'Bronwyn' episodes 18 and 19 have been uploaded.
Episodes 18 and 19 further highlight that the police didn't exactly set the world on fire with their handling of this case. The detective originally in charge of it appears to have perhaps even been a friend of John Winfield and he somehow managed to miss of sequence of red flags.

In episode 20, Hedley presents a perfectly plausible scenario whereby Bronwyn might be buried under the concrete slab of a house John Winfield was working on at the precise time of her disappearance. By no means does he succeed in actually proving this theory - yet - but if you join the dots between John's numerous red flags, it is very believable.

Hedley indicated at the end of the episode that it concludes series 2 of Bronwyn but he anticipates about a 6 to 8 episode long series 3 next year.

“Bronwyn’s body has never been discovered. She has been declared dead by the coroner who heard her case.

“But there will be some people out there, and possibly her former husband, who say she is still alive.”

Ms Winfield would be 61 years old if she were still alive today. She was described as having light brown hair, a medium-thin build and green eyes.''
If anyone has any information about her disappearance, please contact Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.''

Just stumbled upon Bronwyns case on spotify.
Wow! just wow.
Yet another incredible deep dive investigative podcast from the exceptional Hedley Thomas.
That man deserves a police inspector badge.
Seriously.
He does more to solve cases than some cops on the pay roll.

Disappointing this one isn't getting the public notoriety as previous cases but it's making phenomenal inroads all the same.

Bet JW is not sleeping too well these days.

moo
I laugh at your “JW” comment but the case is very sad
I wish Sally Leydon had been fortunate enough to have Hedley on her side but I think he was tied up in the Lyn Dawson case

Just an FYI for those unaware, The Australian is (AFAIK) available through your local library.

They never actually said in the podcast if they found anything in the lake did they? Im presuming nothing if the latest episode was talking about the concrete slab. So sad.

''Loving mothers don’t just walk out on their families – “not in this world” – but police and prosecutors haven’t yet caught up to that reality. That’s the stark assessment of Andy Read, the brother of missing woman Bronwyn Winfield, speaking in a special new video episode of The Australian’s blockbuster cold case investigation Bronwyn.Bronwyn Winfield vanished on Sunday, May 16, 1993 – the night her husband Jon says she walked out the front door, got in a car and was driven away, never to be heard from again. In 2002 NSW deputy coroner Carl Milovanovich recommended “a known person” – Jon Winfield – be charged with murder. But the NSW Director of Public Prosecutions has never laid charges against any person over Bronwyn Winfield’s disappearance.Jon Winfield has always denied wrongdoing.Watch the three-episode video series in full now at BronwynPodcast.com.au''
